Aria sharply turned her head towards Edmond and she decided to use water bending to hurt this one.
She collected water from all the nearby sources and aimed sharp blades of it towards the voice. But she was very surprised when her blades were met with a strong earth barrier.
Aria took control of the earth that contained the barrier, but was shocked to face a water barrier. Actually, the same water she had collected. She had not been focusing on the water while she took control of the earth.
Aria's surprise and being able to hurt so many of the night warriors had dissipated most of her anger and she controlled the rest of it when she heard the man she was attacking speak. "As much as I am enjoying this, I would like to talk." the man spoke in a rough voice, authority seeping from every word.
Aria huffed and spoke, "I don't have anything to talk with the likes of you."
But the man's reply shocked Aria to her core. "That's weird. I was under the impression you had a proposition for me."
Aria cursed herself for giving in to anger and not realizing that it was Edmond Christo standing in front of her. She would have deduced that by his fighting skills and the authority in his voice, had her judgement not been clouded by anger.
Her voice was emotionless when she next spoke, "But I also added some conditions to it. And I won't talk until they are fulfilled."
The next instant, Aria was very surprised when the cloth vanished from over her eyes. As soon as her eyes adjusted to the dim light in the room and the moonlight coming from outside, she saw a very tall man walking away from her.
The man turned around to face Aria as a chair, or rather a throne formed behind him with the earth she had just ruptured in the room.
"This man really is too obsessed with being a king." Aria thought to herself as she inspected Edmond's features. He was really not what Aria had been expecting from his stories and his voice.
Sure, Edmond had a tanned skin with a scar across his left eyebrow to match his rugged voice, and a permanent scowl on his face that matched what Aria had imagined. But that was about it. The man in front of Aria was devilishly handsome, with his sharp jaw, thin lips and straight nose. But it were his eyes that really set him apart.
Edmond's eyes were deep blue as might be expected, but they had a certain light to them. They were like he knew some strange thing, like he wasn't truly of this world. An involuntary shudder passed through Aria's spine as she tore away her face from his eyes and appraised Edmond up and down.
He had clearly seen many battles. Evident from his physique and the scars visible at every inch not covered with clothes. But despite his intimidating features, he seemed to give Aria a strange impression of a boy. Like there was the soul of a child trapped in this body of a warrior.
Once Aria was done with her inspection, she looked at Edmond's expression and was taken aback to see him observing her with. . . . . . . What was that? Almost looked like paternal affection.
