Earning DP

Adrian yawned as he stretched his body waking up from his nap. He opened his eyes and looked out at the horizon one last time before he began his descent from his resting place.

It was much easier going down though, as there were plenty of vines hanging from the branches that he could slide down, so he reached the base of the tree in less than an hour.

"I need to make an easier way to reach the top one of these days. That view is just breathtaking" Adrian said as he looked up at the top of the tree before he headed back down into his dungeon.

He stepped into the cave and opened his DP shop looking through the tools, he looked until he was able to find a Stone Axe for 5 DP and quickly purchased it, spending his last bit of DP that he had left.

He bought the ax because he was going to chop down some trees, he wanted to get some wood and feed it to his dungeon because the dungeon was able to "eat" materials and turn them into DP that he could later use to purchase other items. It was a very easy conversion system.

Adrian looked at the three verdant wolves before he said "You two come with me" pointing at two of the wolves, leaving the last one to guard the dungeon core by himself. He was not going to go far from World so he was not too worried about anything sneaking in.

He walked back out of the dungeon as the two Verdant Wolves followed him outside.

"You two go hunt, bring back whatever you find, and try and bring it back alive, if not that is fine" he ordered the two wolves before they nodded quickly sprinting into the woods disappearing from view.

The wolves were able to leave the dungeon area, however because they were mobs from the dungeon they could only stay outside of the dungeon for limited time as their mana would be continuously depleted. Monsters of their level would only be able to stay outside for a maximum of 10 minutes or so.

The wolves themselves knew this so during their hunt they would periodically come back to replenish their mana before leaving again.

As he watched the wolves disappear from his vision Adrian picked up his Stone Axe before he got to work, he sweated profusely as he continuously chopped at one of the trees near his dungeon.

After roughly an hour of work loud snapping sounds were heard as the tree he was chopping at began to groan before it tilted to its side and fell over with a loud BANG. Adrian stepped out of the way of the tree that was falling before he sat down and panted in exhaustion, his arms aching from the strenuous work.

After resting for a few minutes he stood up and grabbed his ax before he began to get back to work. He took his ax as he started stripping all of the branches and leaves off of the tree and piling them up. Halfway through stripping the tree he heard some barking before he saw his two Verdant Wolves running back towards him, one of them seemed to be holding something in its mouth.

He set down its ax before he went to meet them as they swiftly approached his position.

Stopping in front of him the two wolves wagged their tails as one of them had a black rabbit in its mouth, the rabbit was still alive as it was breathing weakly. Adrian felt slightly bad at this though, but he just put it to the law of the jungle.

He grabbed his ax before he took the rabbit from the mouth of the Verdant Wolf and swiftly chopped its head off ending its suffering.

"Great job!" Adrian said as he patted the wolf on the head. The wolves happily yelped before leaving back into the forest to continue hunting. Adrian checked his DP and noticed that killing the rabbit in his dungeon (The perimeter of World was still considered his dungeon) had gained him 5 DP, it was not much but mosquito meat was still meat.

He opened his DP Menu before searching for something that he could use to light a fire with, all this work had left him famished! He quickly found a flint and steel for 5 DP and began to weep to himself. 'Back to being penniless!' he purchased the flint and steel and went down to 0 DP.

Adrian set up a pile of tinder and skinned the rabbit best he could before he put the rabbit on a long wooden stick. He then lit the fire and placed the rabbit above the fire and went back to stripping the tree of its branches. He was not finished after all. He would periodically rotate the rabbit as he finished up his work.

The scent of cooked meat began to fill his nose as he was finishing up his work. He placed the last bit of branches in the pile next to the entrance of the dungeon before he pulled the rabbit off of the fire and let it cool down.

He finished up half the rabbit before he heard the Verdant Wolves return from their hunt, and it looks like this time they were successful again! This means of the roughly 10 or so times they had gone out to hunt they had been successful two times! Although the 20% success rate was not good it was still something to be satisfied about.

This time however, the wolves were both dragging an animal together as they both had a leg in their mouths. It was a Boar, roughly the same size as the wolves but much fatter. The two wolves came back as the Boar was still struggling to escape their jaws.

"Go ahead and finish it!" he said as they entered within the range of the dungeon.

One of the wolves growled before lunging at the boar's neck, tearing at it and swiftly ending its life, letting Adrian gain some DP. He opened the dungeon interface before letting it collect the Boar, the rabbit skin, and the pile of branches that he had stripped from the tree, converting them all into DP.

He now had 47 DP, he got 25 from killing the boar, and 22 DP from letting the dungeon eat all the objects he had collected. Now that he was no longer penniless he was happy. He looked at the wolves who had a few scratches and cuts, one of them even having a fairly deep gash on its side and said "Thank you for the hard work".

He tossed each of them a leg from the rabbit before saving another for the last wolf that was guarding the dungeon core, naturally the mobs of a dungeon didn't need to eat as mana was able to sustain them, but nothing stopped them from eating either.

The mana from the dungeon would also slowly heal their wounds in time so Adrian was not too worried about their injuries, though he did notice their dedication. Looking at the sky that was nearly dark Adrian headed into the dungeon again and called along the wolves, it was time to sleep.
