The slash fell to the ground with great force to the location where Arif stood previously. Before it could hit him, Arif lept backwards to avoid the strike.
"Decelerate time!" Arif yelled once he was a hairs breath away from the blade
Immediately, everything slow down as if time itself has halted, the only thing moving in normal speed was Arif, the invoker of the skill. Decelerate time was a rather niche skill high up the brawler skill tree which slows down time to ahalt for about 3 breaths time thus providing the caster time to run away, avoid or even turn the tables on the opponent.
With time slowed down, Arif wasted no time to dodge to the right and lunge forwards, readying a strike as time started to sped up to normal once again.
Slash!
Arif blade slashed the hamstring of the orge making it kneel at where it stood previously.
"Dia di situ!" The goblin yelled as the ran towards Arif.
Clank!
The sound of clubs and blades clashing could be heard as two goblins leap up and slam the weapons downward towards the defending Arif. At the same time, the 3rd goblin lunged forwards towards his leg while the kneeling orge behind starter to get his breath back and stood up, ready to strike.
"Now!" Arif bellowed.
The goblins and orge was startled for awhile as the heard the shout. Nothing happen. And then all the sudden....
BOOM!
Lightning struck where they all stood.
Holy Wrath, the strongest spell a battle priest can have in his arsenal. Neezar was hiding and waiting for the perfect moment when all of them were together so that he could use his spell efficiently to deal with all of them.
Smoke rose where the lightning struck.
Something wasn't right.
Prior to them beginning the brawl, Arif has already clocked himself with Holy Armour thus the lightning should damage him but heal him instead. However, right now as the smoke rises, the shadow of Arif on the floor with his blade facing upward defending from the goblins attack previously could still be seen, around him was 1 tall and massive figure, clearly belonging to the orge, 4 tiny figure and then one more right in the middle with his hands facing the top.
Where did this 5th thing came from?
"Enough!" The shadowy 5th figure said.
A well built but on the thin side guy wearing weird clothing stood there as he glared forward, one hand in the air while the other clasping his sword. Clearly, the Holy Wrath spell has been nulified by him.
Above all, why was a human protecting a gang of goblins and orge...
...
Afew moments previously, just as Adam and Ha'kash notice a series of footsteps heading towards their location.
"it looks like a squad of adventurers have came here after hearing the rumor about goblins infesting the cave..." Adam said after eavesdropping the conversation previously.
"Should I make quick work of them?" Ha'kash asked as he smirked sinisterly.
"No, don't hurt them. It's not like they are specifically targeting us..." Adam said.
"That may be true but if anything goes wrong, even with your training all 4 of them would be a handful for you to deal with. At the very least, let me subdue the mage and the monk first so that if your plan fails, you aren't in much of a disadvantage." Ha'kash said.
Adam nodded in the compromise followed by Ha'kash vanishing in the darkness. Using blink strike, he teleported infront, grab the mage, and teleported out before the mage could even notice what was going on. After knocking the mage unconscious and tying her up, he started taunting the squad once again in hopes to lure any one of them a distance away before Adam moves forward to 'talk'.
However, before Adam could even move forward, the goblin and orge from the village were already alerted to the fighting due to the felling of the tree by Zambry. As they move forwards to the location of the remainder, the Knight of the party lunge out and immediately killed one of the goblin before lunging at the orge.
Rage filled Adam's eye. For a moment, he forgotten that what he wanted to do and all that was in his mind was kill this assholes.
Even though he didn't communicated much with those goblins and orge that he summoned compared to Ha'kash, the fact that he could only summon one a day and that they were absolutely loyal to him meant they were valueble to him.
"Something isn't right..." Adam said as he observe the situation.
There was 4 of them, 2 was being subdue by Ha'kash, where is the other...
"... Its a trap!" Adam came to the realisation as his eyes caught sight of the cleric who was channelling a spell.
" Now!" The Knight yelled at the top of his voice.
Knowing immediately that whatever spell that was comming could potentially wipe out his tiny army that he has spent so much effort to summon, Adam immediately leap forwards.
"Holy Armour! Blink Strike! " Adam yelled as he casted the skill that he saw the Knight activated moments before signalling to the priest to strike and chaining it with blink strike to instantaneously teleport there.
The Holy Armour Adam conjured was of a much higher mastery than the one summoned by the Knight. While the armour around the Knight only converts all incomming light damage towards him into health, the one Adam conjured not only does that but also absorb damage to surrounding allies as well.
While his initial intent was to run forward and to leap high up in hopes that he will absorb the strike before it widens and hit those below him, the coincidental added functionality of the skill he copied helped him much more efficiently that he could have hoped for.
"Enough!" Adam yelled once the smoke cleared.
"You Intrude my village, kill one of its inhabitants and almost kill the rest! Tell me why should I kill you here and here itself!" Adam said with fire burning in his eyes.
The knight stood up and scuttle back towards the priest.
"We are here on a mission to investigate the reports that goblins have make nest in the cave nearby." The Knight said as he took out a blue crystal which started projecting images in the air of goblins attacking caravans and loitering around the cave.
"Why are you siding with monsters! " The knight said after the recording ended while glaring at Adam suspiciously.
