Chapter 25: Fortuneteller Baba
Regarding Tao Pai Pai, Master Roshi did not tell his disciples; there was no need to add to their worries.
Goku continued, "I plan to gather the seven Dragon Balls, summon Shenron, and wish to revive Upa's father. However, I have collected six Dragon Balls, but the seventh Dragon Ball has not shown up on the radar."
"Bulma, can you check if this Dragon Ball radar is broken?" Goku said as he handed the radar to Bulma.
Bulma opened the radar and found that the screen was flashing with six light points in the center; no matter how she adjusted it, the location of the seventh Dragon Ball did not appear.
Bulma said, "The screen shows six Dragon Balls, which proves that the radar is not broken. The fact that the seventh Dragon Ball is not showing means someone has put it in a container similar to lead."
"Because the principle of the Dragon Ball radar is to locate Dragon Balls by detecting electromagnetic waves emitted by them, a lead container can effectively block these waves."
"Ah, does that mean I can't find the seventh Dragon Ball?" Goku said sadly, though he didn't fully understand; he knew that the radar couldn't find it.
"If that's the case, then Upa's father can't be revived," Goku said with a hint of sadness.
At this time, Master Roshi said, "Actually, I have a way. We can find Fortuneteller Baba; she has a magical crystal ball that can help you locate the seventh Dragon Ball."
"Really? Where is Fortuneteller Baba? Let's hurry!" Goku exclaimed excitedly.
Master Roshi then revealed Fortuneteller Baba's location. Everyone took a plane to her mansion while Goku flew back near Karin Tower to bring Upa along. Although John didn't understand why they needed to take Upa to Fortuneteller Baba.
Originally, Master Roshi didn't plan to go; he hadn't seen his sister in decades due to their poor relationship. However, John insisted that they were young and wouldn't interact well with others without Master Roshi's presence, so they practically forced him onto the plane.
They arrived at Fortuneteller Baba's place, a large mansion located on the edge of a desert oasis, designed with unique features and exotic flair.
At the entrance of the mansion, many wealthy people were lining up to ask Fortuneteller Baba for help in finding things.
At this moment, a middle-aged wealthy couple walked past John and his group. The man from that couple said, "As expected of Fortuneteller Baba; she really is accurate. She found your ring right away in the sofa cushions."
"I told you it must be somewhere in our house; you insisted I lost it," said the woman with a tone full of grievance.
The man quickly comforted her, "Don't blame me for being anxious; that ring is worth 400 million! If we really lost it... just think about how heartbroken you'd be..."
As they spoke, the couple got into a luxurious car and sped away.
At this moment, a figure wearing a straw hat who had just seen off that couple floated in front of John and his group.
John curiously looked at this figure who had no legs but only a white body and two hands and asked, "Are you a ghost?"
The ghost replied, "I am Fortuneteller Baba's servant and also a ghost. Do you need divination services?"
Goku nodded and said, "We want to ask Fortuneteller Baba for help in finding the last Dragon Ball."
The ghost nodded and said, "Sure, it will cost ten million zeni."
"What? Ten million zeni!" Upon hearing this price for divination, John, Goku, and Bulma were all shocked.
Goku tugged at John's sleeve and asked, "John, is ten million a lot?"
John thought for a moment and replied, "For most people, yes; many might not earn that much in their lifetime. Of course, it's not much for Bulma; her family probably makes more than ten million zeni in a day."
Although Goku didn't fully understand, he grasped John's point: ten million was indeed a lot.
Neither Goku nor Upa had any money. While others had some money on them, they definitely didn't have ten million. Just as Bulma was about to show her generosity and pay for Goku when the little ghost spoke again.
"No money? That's fine; we also have free services. If you can defeat five contestants here, Fortuneteller Baba will offer you her divination for free."
Instantly everyone felt relieved; Bulma stopped preparing to pay. Krillin smugly said, "Are you sure? You know we have four top eight fighters from the World Martial Arts Tournament here; one of them is even a runner-up."
The little ghost suddenly wore an eerie smile and replied, "Of course I'm sure; that's Fortuneteller Baba's rule."
"Alright then! What do we need to do? Do we need to line up?" John asked.
"If you choose to challenge them, there's no need to line up; those waiting are choosing to pay. Follow me," the little ghost said with a smile as he led John and his group into the mansion.
Soon they found themselves in a dimly lit palace where a huge crystal ball appeared in the center after they entered.
At this moment everyone noticed an old woman with wrinkles standing on top of the crystal ball wearing a wizard hat.
Upon seeing John's group, Fortuneteller Baba immediately recognized her useless brother and mocked him: "Ah! Isn't this my useless brother? Are you still as lecherous as before?" She then turned to Bulma and Launch saying, "You girls must be careful of this lecherous old man; he's probably thinking about how to take advantage of you right now."
"What nonsense! You old hag! Mind your own business!" Master Roshi retorted angrily upon hearing his sister's insults.
"Brother?!" Hearing Fortuneteller Baba refer to Master Roshi as such shocked everyone; they never expected she was Master Roshi's sister.
Not caring about Master Roshi's title for her brother, Fortuneteller Baba asked everyone: "Do you have something you want me to help you find?"
Everyone turned their gaze towards Goku. Seeing this reaction from everyone else made Fortuneteller Baba look at Goku too.
Goku curiously examined Fortuneteller Baba standing on top of the crystal ball and suddenly remarked: "Grandma! You're also a girl right? But why don't you have any breasts?"
