Final Battle

Gin didn't give any time for the Hadeon to react and once again rushed at him.

As Gin was thinking of how his opponent would respond, Hadeon expressionlessly turned around and sped, vanishing into the shades of the tall trees.

During his last attack and defense, he used his spear intent which consumed all his energy and stamina; If not for that, with his pride he definitely wouldn't run away.

Of course, Gin wouldn't let his opponent run away and that too a Fiend. He raced and chased after his figure.

"I don't know your name but I assure you, the next time we meet will be your death." Hadeon's voice came from afar.

"Darkness Converge" Hadeon silently muttered and his figure completely disappeared; even his presence, aura, and scent.

"What a mysterious skill, is it unique to Fiends?"

Even after Gin used his soul energy, he couldn't find any traces of Hadeon as if he didn't even come here in the first place.

Gin suddenly smirked. Closing his eyes, he concentrated his soul energy for a moment and sprinted in a particular direction.

He wasn't mindlessly running as he knew the rough direction of Hadeon fled. It's all because of a small soul trick called Bug latch.

It's not a soul skill but a small trick mentioned in the 'Basic soul skills' book. He split tiny part of his soul energy and latched it onto Hadeon.

He can't trace its exact source, but he can determine the rough direction of the tiny soul energy. Even though it's a pretty good trick, it has its disadvantages.

One – The tiny soul energy can't last more than 30 minutes outside of his body and it will soon disappear. Two - He can only roughly determine the location of tiny soul energy within 5 KM range, past that he can't.

Within this 30 minute limit, he can find Hadeon's location but as time passes his soul energy will gradually fade so he has to hurry.

-

About 10 minutes later, Gin found the tiny soul energy is no longer moving so he rushed. As he neared the spot, he heard a huge uproar as if a great battle is taking place.

Soon, a staggering view of a huge battlefield emerged before his eyes, in which humans, Fiends, and magical beasts were fighting as if their life depended on it.

More than 3000 corpses lay dead on the ground, while more piled up as the battle continued; it was an appalling sight.

What's ridiculous is, more than 400 magical beasts were fighting alongside humans and slaughtering the Fiends like chickens. Welcomed by such a strange sight, Gin didn't know what to feel. Since the battle was in favor of humans, he relaxed.

Gin soon noticed Hadeon's figure, but he lost sight of him as he entered the Fiend group side.

'Why did they commence the battle before the planned time?' Gin thought.

He knows it's not time to think, so he directly entered the battlefield and started to kill all the Fiend minions in his sight. His presence attracted many eyes, as none of the Fiends were able to stop him. He was like a tiger that entered sheep's den, killing all the Fiends.

Hadeon who finally had time to relax also noticed Gin, 'How did he arrive here this quick?'

Even the thought, 'he may have followed me', didn't occur to Hadeon as he was very confident about his skill — Darkness converge.

In the meantime, Shaun, Luna, Adrin, and others from the human side also noticed him. Gin fought his way and reached the location where some of the strong humans and Fiends fought.

The eye-catching battle is between Zhyler and Duanoz, while 'bang' sounds and shockwaves surrounded them. The fight between them was like two beasts fighting for territory.

None approached their fight, fearing they might get killed by one of their blows.

"You finally came?" Luna shouted, severing a Fiend minion's head.

"Sorry, I am late." Gin spoke. "What's happening here? and why did you guys start the battle before the planned time"

"All of us are suddenly teleported here and forced to fight the fiends ahead of time," Luna explained, dodging another Fiends strike and slashing his throat.

"What?!!" Gin was shocked, hearing Luna's words.

'Why wasn't he teleported? is it because I was already fighting a Fiend?' Gin mused but he couldn't find the answer.

He noticed the Fiends are losing their battle, as they can't fight both the humans and 400 some ferocious beasts at the same time.

He also noticed Shaun who was having a fierce fight against one of the Fiend. He didn't rush to help as he knows Shaun is capable of defeating his opponent, without any outside help.

If Gin wasn't wrong, Shaun's opponent should be Fiend named Fiend Ares. Certainly a tough opponent.

Some of the human youths also lost their lives but that's inevitable in war. Only 1000 some Fiends remained alive but they too can't endure the bombardment of combined attacks of humans.

Fiend Zhyler who was fighting Duanoz felt like he was getting bullied. Who wouldn't be? Targeted by both the magical beasts and humans at the time!

He felt anger towards the spirit governing this inheritance ground and for its shameless strategy. Using humans and magical beasts to force him out of the ruin.

Gritting his teeth, Zhyler shouted, "Hadeon, Jela, Ares – we are leaving. Come to me."

"What?" Hearing the words, the Fiends were startled and then a huge commotion broke out.

'Are they going to be abandoned?' as they knew Zhyler was going to escape.

"You are not going anywhere" Duanoz yelled and punched his hand that is wrapped in orange flames while a fiery force originated from his hand and assaulted Zhyler.

"Go away!"

Zhyler blocked the punch and sent his own attack. A much greater force loaded with dark and sinister energy shot at Duanoz and pushed him back.

"Boss, don't leave us in here." A Fiend minion begged.

"Selfish bastard, you will die a horrible death." Another Fiend minion cursed, knowing he was going to die.

"Someday, humans will skin you alive." Some begged and some cursed.

Paying no heed to these worthless fools, Zhyler utilized some kind of weird movement technique and appeared beside Hadeon, Jela, and Ares; it was like he knows teleportation.

As soon as he reached, Hadeon, Jela, and Ares placed their hands on his back. Soon, a blinding light covered them and their figures disappeared from the spot.

Everything happened in a fraction of a second, no one could react. They can only helplessly watch these four Fiends escaping from the ruin.

After that, most of the fiends lost all their will to fight, 'without a general an army is lost', even so, some struggled with all their might.

Since they are outnumbered, the Fiends weren't able to do anything, and soon, all of them were massacred by Humans and magical beasts.

All the human youths let out a sigh of relief; some were shedding tears, some were celebrating and some were lost in thought. More than 500 humans lost their lives, if not for the magical beasts help, the result would have been worse.

This battle taught them a valuable lesson; In a contest or struggle, the weakest will eventually fall or be defeated.

"Congratulations! Your battle against the fiends is well fought with bravery and courage.

All of you have passed this trial and qualified to enter the next trial."

A voice echoed, startling everyone present. Before they could relax, a golden radiance swept past them, and in the next second, all of them were standing in a different place.

"Ohh" All of them were shocked. They were greeted by a huge space overflowed with rich energy and beautiful scenery.

Above them is a cloudless blue sky, while the ground beneath is widespread with green grass-like plants reaching 10 cm in height.

What's truly shocking is, such a borderless land is implanted with 7 feet tall pillars that spread as far as their eyes could see; there's at least 15 meters gap between each pillar.

"Choose a pillar for yourself. As soon as you place your hand on it, your consciousness will enter a trial space where you will face an opponent.

~If you can persist for more than 2 minutes inside the trial space, you will be awarded a high-class Breathing technique.

~If you can persist for more than 5 minutes, you will be awarded a high-class Breathing technique and you can also choose a high-grade martial skill of your choice.

~If you persist for more than 10 minutes, you can choose a Mortal grade technique of your choice, it can be either a martial skill or breathing technique.

~If you persist for more than 20 minutes, you can choose a mortal grade weapon and transcended grade technique of your choice.

This is the last trial of Inheritance ground, so do your best and persist longer for greater rewards."

The voice once again sounded into everyone's ears. No one could ascertain the gender of the voice, but it was clear, sharp, and pleasing to hear.
