Chapter Three: The World After part two

~ a Few days later~

It's been a few days since I snuck out from home. During that time, I made a major discovery.

I died and was reincarnated in a world of magic-- a fantasy world perhaps, as Reo Bellar.

'Magic' is a world that could get all excited. Ever since I saw it a few days ago, my body's become restless. I haven't been able to sleep well at night. What I'm trying to say is I've been itching to try it out ever since.

Those moments keep replaying over and over again in my head. And just like every other person would, I'm dying to try it out so badly! I mean, who wouldn't be? It's magic! Anyone who wouldn't consider trying it out lacks a sense of imagination and fantasy- no, lacks sense entirely.

All that said I haven't tried it out. More like I haven't got the chance to. Leila's been clingy more than usual lately. Almost as if she's preventing me from running away or something. Oh and for the record I didn't get caught sneaking out and back in.

Leila's been making me play dress up. She goes out to get frilly girls' clothes and puts me in them. Whenever she's got free time, she comes over to make me play dress up and then makes a bashful face while saying,

"Ohh, my little Reo is so cute!!!" with a little shriek.

But not today, luckily Leila's not home at the moment. She probably went out to go restock. Either that or she's out to get more frilly clothes to put me in. And, Cliff's upstairs taking a nap.

This is my chance. There's no one to get in my way at the moment.

I bolt down the stairs as quickly and quietly as I could, trying not to wake Cliff. But by the time I managed to get down, I face my first obstacle yet.

Shit!

Leila's locked the front door and took the key with her. Even the window beside it is locked. It's almost like she was expecting me to sneak out.

The other windows in the living room are too high for me to get to. Tsk.

Fortunately, I was aware of where the key to the back door was.

I went to go get the keys and returned. Towering against me with a mocking atmosphere, the greatest enemy I had come to face, the door with its wooden structure stood firmly, high, and tall as if to mock me.

I glared up against what had come to be my greatest fear and nemesis. But had no time for a standstill

I quickly dragged a chair from the living room. I got on top of it and inserted the key into the keyhole. I turn and twist the key clockwise, and with a *slug* the door opened The door creaked slightly before finally giving way to the backyard.

I was greeted with the warm rays of the spring sun and a gentle breeze. I took in the sight along with a big inhale of air and sighed triumphantly.

Finally, I can attempt magic. A smile curled up on my face.

I got through the back door into the backyard. The backyard was spacious enough for me to try out the spell. This way I wouldn't have to risk anything getting broken if something went wrong which I hope nothing does.

After reconfirming the sight and state of the backyard, I nod firmly and balled my fingers into a tight fist.

I had to get this over with before Layla got back or Cliff woke up.

I walked to the center of the yard where it was wider and more spacious.

The woman from a few days ago had cast what seemed to be a simple water spell for watering the wide plain of wheat. Judging from how it was used, you can immediately tell it was a simple harmless spell used for day-to-day farm activities. This would mean, they'll probably be no harm if I try it out.

I stretched out my right arm and closed off both my eyes. I began visualizing what the woman at the plain had done, water. The woman had said a few things back then which I'm guessing was probably the spell's incantation.

Unfortunately, I hadn't been able to catch watch she said from the distance. But I had seen cases where it was possible to cast a spell without the need for an aria in some shows and novels. It might seem like a stupidly baseless reason, but it was all I had In a world like this.

If what fantasy novel said about magic was true then, I should be good with just the right amount of imagination and visualization.

I visualized a sphere of water hovering just above my stretched-out right arm. I concentrated on the visualized image and pronounced it further. The more I did, the more the sphere of water seemed more realistic and defined for a mental image.

An unfamiliar sensation of something flowing nestled upon my arm. Accompanying the flowing sensation, the tips of my fingers tingled slightly.

The tingling got more defined and pronounced as something began to concentrate and gather at my fingertips. The surface of my arm was then greeted with warmth.

I opened my eyes to the sight of a sphere of water hovering over my palm. The sphere was no more than the size of an average ping-pong ball. It had formed exactly out of thin air.

I-I did it! I'm doing magic!

I was overcome with a great sense of accomplishment and happiness. I had performed magic.

The sphere was small and hovered. The woman from before made a sphere twice the size of a basketball though. I began to wonder just how big I could get mine.

As I began to think that, I felt a great surge flow inside my hand and my fingers began to no longer tingle but vibrate. The warmth against my hand spread accompanying the tingling vibration and then the sphere began to grow in size.

Various tiny other droplets of water appeared around it. The sphere like a black hole drew in those droplets and absorbed them as their size began to grow and expand.

Ah...!

A great sense of accomplishment washed over me once again as I watched the sphere expand.

However, I got too excited...

The rate at the sphere absorbed the tiny other droplets and grew in size and creased very visibly. It began to swell up and the accumulating mass of water took the distinctive fragile look of an over-swollen water balloon. Like it was gonna pop anytime.

Its size quickly and easily surpasses that of a soccer ball and then a basketball. It kept growing like a black hole feeding off atmospheric energy.

The surge in my hand also greatly increased.

The sphere of water grew in weight as it did in size. Slowly it got heavier and under the increasing weight, I was forced to use both arms to maintain and lift it.

The increased surge in my hands continued as the sphere easily surpasses the size of my head and then my whole body by threefold if not five.

"k-uh-!" My hands began to waver and falter under the indescribable weight.

And I was slowly beginning to panic.

My legs dug lightly into the ground. The growing size and weight of the sphere pressed down hard against my whole body. It was even amazing how my body was able to hold it up this long.

...How much time passed like this, a few seconds? A few minutes? I didn't know. Regardless of the amount of time, the sphere continued to grow.

The bigger it got, the harder it was to maintain its spheric shape.

...

As my legs were about to buckle under the increasing weight, it was then u heard a cry ring out in the backyard. I reflexively turn my head towards the backdoor from which I came, and before It, both Cliff and Layla stood. Both share the same expression.

And at the same time I did, my concentration faltered...

And with a resounding *Pushy-uk* sound, the accumulated mass of water came pouring down on me with immense pressure and force that opened up a big crater at the entrance of the backyard.
