Tether

I wake up after a 4 year sleep. Which is much longer than I had intended. I was unsure the exact reason why it was 4 years, but I can make some guess. I have accumulated 157,700,000 DE over this time. That is enough to tether, expand the dimension and build some things.

First, I gave Gabriel some petting. Then I spent 100 million DE to tether my dimension to its first world. I have 57,700,000 DE left now.

<Dimensional Tethering Initiated>

While the random tethering was happening, I gave Oroum some TLC.

First, I rose a gloriously tall mountain under my wooden cottage. Took us up around 9144.00 m Then I bought 20 cubic kilometers of land and put it around the mountain. I have 37,7000,000 DE left. I then added grass everywhere. which cost 500,000 DE, leaving me with 37,200,000 DE left. I then added 100 trees per km of land. Which cost 200,000 DE, now I have 37,000,000 DE left.

I finally replaced my old wooden cottage with a full marble palace, Imperial Roman style, for 7,000,000 DE. Fully furnished too. Leaving me with 30,000,000 DE left. I added the shrubbery, flower beds, trees and gardens to the palace for a 100,000 DE after that. 29,000,000 DE left.

I spent the rest the DE by expanding the dimension again by another 20,000,000 DE. Then I added lakes, rivers and small forests areas around. Now I have 1,000,000 million DE left. I spent 700,000 DE on a wolf and deer population. 10 wolves and 1000 deer. Be enough to start.

I didn't have to spend anything on the atmosphere, as the dimension allows living things to survive. It has a basic Earthlike atmosphere as a default because of this. However, if I want any unique animals later on, I'll have to change the atmosphere in that area with DE. I don't even need to buy light! As apparently my body produces all the light for the dimension. I am literally and symbolically the sun. A bit odd to me, but still cool.

As soon as I bought everything and it poofed into existence. I learned something, there is no gravity. At least, there is no gravity unless the subject is within a certain radius of me. So all the wolves and deer are currently floating around in the distance.

I look to see the price of gravity...

Gravity = 10,000 DE

I sigh, "Well, guess I'll need to improvise."

I think about using my normal DE to buy gravity. As the DE I spend is essentially excess DE I don't need. I take the 10,000 DE from within myself. Which is just a drop in a planet of 100% water. I finally buy gravity.

I make sure the animals don't go splat of course. At last, the initial work is all done.

<Dimensional Tethering Complete>

Ho oh, it is complete.

"Zero, show me the world I've tethered to", I command with an excited smile.

<Acknowledged. World name is Hendall. High Medieval technology. generates usable energy known as Mana. Hendall has multiple intelligent races.>

Exciting. Since they use Mana, I should buy the ability to use it.

Mana Circuits = 50,000 DE

Mana Core = 30,000 DE

Mana Heart = 100,000 DE

Well, the prices are good. I have enough to buy all three. Now I have 20,000 DE left and everything I need. Oh, I should have gotten Gabriel some Mana ability.

<Subject Gabriel has a blessed body by heaven. As Good Boy, he can use all forms of energy.>

How convenient for Gabriel. That's good though.

Since I am prepared, let's go to this new world called Hendall.

"Alright Zero, send Gabriel and I to Hendall.", I say with an adventurous grin.

<Creating avatars, transporting Oro and Gabriel>

Here we go...

In the next second, my vision changed. No longer was in my dimension of Oroum. I was in an open plain with Gabriel at my side. I still looked like the handsome old man that I was. My clothes were still the same too. I took a second to see if I could feel the mana of the world.

It only took a moment for me to sense mana. I then began to bring it into myself. My mana circuits circulated the mana throughout my body like blood. The man core and heart absorbed mana into themselves. Every part of was getting strengthened. By virtue of my transcendental existence, I could continuously take in mana without a break. My method of taking in mana was very crude though. I'm basically letting my body do all the work, which isn't very efficient.

I could just buy a mana cultivation technique from the store. Should I?

After thinking for a moment, why not buy one? I look at the store and set the price for 20,000 DE. I find a suitable one.

Trivial Trifecta Mana Art = 20,000 DE

It is a trivial art, but really suitable. You need man, circuits, core, and heart to use it. I have all three. I'll buy this and use it.

After buying it, it appears in the form of a "skill book". I open it and the technique is instantly learned. I begin using it, and the mana is cultivated much more efficiently.

I laugh, "This world is going to be fun. I've only used magic in videogames before. In my old age, I spent a lot of time in VR. I'm looking forward to this new adventure. I feel the power of YOUTH flowing through my veins."

"Come on Gabriel, let's go find whatever we find.", I say boisterously as we begin walking in one direction.

We encountered some beasts along the way. Wolves and bears. Stronger versions of normal animals with different abilities. They were no match for us though. Apparently, having three mana traits and the compatible cultivation technique skyrocketed my power.

I thought things would get interested when we encountered goblins, but they were fodder. Hence, I used them to experiment. I used mana to do different things. I made fire arrows. I went invisible. I enhanced my speed. I made mana constructs. There were only a so many goblins though. I couldn't test everything in my head on them. So for the last one, I decided to do something a little special.

"Mind Control...", I say as I outstretch my hand. My mana invades the goblins mind. I feel a small resistance, but it was easily broken through. I was just so much more powerful. I then toyed around with the mind magic. Feeling it out and seeing how it works. I did this with the goblin for an hour.

I grin, "Great, I think I have a good grasp on mind magic now. Let's get going again."

Gabriel, who was taking a nap while I played around with the goblins yawns and gets up. I say, "Ya ya, sorry to interrupt your nap my friend. We'll sleep properly when we reach civilization."

As we begin walking, I have a thought. I think aloud, "A handsome old man like myself should have a handsome cane, don't you think Gabriel?"

Gabriel barks in agreement, "Woof wof arf."

I go to a strong looking tree and put a hand on it. For the first time, I try out nature magic and make a sturdy straight branch grow out. The branch then break off.

"Thank you for the branch old boy.", I say thankfully.

I infuse mana to give it a sheen and increase its sturdiness. The head of the cane is modeled after an eagle's head. The cane has a shiny dark brown color now. With a fine cane in hand, we go back to traveling the land.

After an hour, we come across a dirt road. I smile, "Come on boy, onward to civilization."

We begin to walk the dirt road for a long while. It turned night, then turned day again. Luckily, Gabriel and I don't need food or water. Although those things would be nice.

My ears pickup the sound of wooden wheels behind us. They're still a ways away though as my hearing is greater than normal now. Gabriel picks it up too. We just keep walking though. They should catch up to us anyways.

After half an hour, the source of the wood wheel sounds catches up to us. I look back and see a carriage, a fairly nice one at that.

We move aside to let the carriage pass without issue. It even has a mounted rider escort. The carriage group stops after they go past us by a little bit. One of the armed men then go to help a well-dressed young lady get down from the carriage. The young lady then comes up to us with two escorts.

"Hello Sir, I'm Eliza Hanse. A Lady of the Hanse County.", She says to me with a warm smile. She takes a glance of admiration at Gabriel. He is a handsome white coated dog after all.

I smile, "A pleasure to you young lady. I am Oro, and this here is Gabriel. My most loyal friend."

Gabriel does a happy, "Woof", to say hello too. I then ask, "Is there something this old man can do for you Lady Hanse?"

She keeps her bright smile, "Oh no, I didn't want anything. I just wanted to offer you and Gabriel a ride back to the city. I would be a little guilty if I just let you walk the whole way after seeing you. Also, do you not have a family name?"

Seems like elders are still respected in this world. I wonder if she would still have offered if my appearance wasn't so clean and proper. Or perhaps she would have wanted to, and her guard wouldn't allow it. Doesn't matter though. I can tell her character in due time.

"I only go by Oro, Lady Hanse. I've aged out of my family name.", I say sincerely.

She laughs, "How can someone age out of their family name?"

I grin, "Would you believe me if I said I was 113 years old this year?"

Eliza's eyes go wide, "No way you're a 113 years old!"

I chuckle, "Oh yes, I'm a 113 years old. It came time to step back and let my descendants shine. So I faked my death and left them. Knowing they'll all do wonderful for themselves."

"Wow, even my grandfather is only 76 years old. Where are you from then?", She then asks as she accepts that I'm old as dirt.

I answer, "I'm from Oroum."

She thinks hard, "I've never heard of that place before."

"It is an obscure place in the world. Hard to find, hard to get to, and hard to leave. As for that carriage ride. I'll gladly accept it to rest these old bones.", I say.

"Oh yes, let's go then. Of course Gabriel can hop in too.", She happily says.

I did notice that the guards were all nervous around me. Like they were walking on eggshells. I sense Mana in them too. Something to think about.

Anyways, on to my first city in this world.
