<90> This Guy's Talent

Chapter 90: This Guy's Talent

In the evening, everyone except Sawamura, who had been explicitly forbidden from training, agreed to practice their swings at home.

Meanwhile, Sendo rummaged through his closet, looking for something.

His daily life was rather carefree, and cleaning wasn't his strong suit, but his room maintained a sort of organized chaos.

"Found it! Tomorrow's your chance to shine alongside your brothers, partner!" he declared, speaking to a cardboard box he had just uncovered.

...

"You guys have your first match next Saturday, right? I'll come and watch. Don't get the wrong idea! I'm going to cheer for everyone—not for you specifically. I'm still mad at you!" Fumino messaged Sendo that night, as usual, clarifying unnecessarily that her support wasn't for him.

"Mm-hmm! Got it!" replied Sendo. (Way to kill the conversation, dude!)

"Anyway, I'm going to take a bath!"

"Mm-hmm! Bye!"

...

In Tokyo, a few seconds later.

Smack!

Fumino tossed her phone onto her bed in frustration.

"What's his deal? Is it really that hard to talk to me?"

She checked her phone to ensure it wasn't damaged.

"Phew, still works. Hmph!" She finally went to take her bath, muttering under her breath.

Girls are really complicated creatures.

...

Meanwhile, Sendo stretched and yawned, mumbling off-key to himself.

"Girls are so hard to understand! Whatever, I need a bath too."

...

The next day.

"Sendo! What period is English today?!" Naturally, only one person could ask something like that.

"What's it to you? Does it even matter when you sleep through all your classes?"

"Shut up! You're the same! Oh, wait, how would you even remember the schedule?"

"Not true! I don't sleep in all my classes. Plus, I keep track of the schedule!"

"Seriously? Then what period is English?"

"No idea!"

"WHAT? Didn't you just say you remembered?"

"Yep, I remember it well—my version of the schedule."

"Your version? Isn't the schedule the same for everyone?"

"It is, but mine's a little different."

"In what way?" Sawamura, already forgetting about English, leaned in curiously.

"Except for a few classes, it's all naps. Today's schedule is: nap, nap, nap, nap, history, and PE. So I don't know about English."

The people nearby were stunned.

"You! That's not much different from not remembering at all!"

"No, I've remembered everything I need to do for each period!"

"..." Sawamura was momentarily at a loss for words.

"Fine, I'll go ask someone else!"

"Wait, why are you suddenly interested in English?"

"A junior asked to borrow my dictionary."

"Guy or girl?"

"Girl."

"Oh? Is she pretty?"

"…!"

"AHHH! Forget I said anything!" Sawamura bolted, ending the conversation abruptly.

"Hey, a girl, huh?" Sendo grinned mischievously, nudging Wakana with his elbow.

"I know, okay? Why are you telling me this? He's always been good with people! Jeez!"

"..." This time, it was Sendo's turn to fall silent.

"Hey! Aren't girls supposed to keep a close eye on guys? Isn't being this laid-back dangerous? Or were all those videos I watched in my past life just lies? Seriously!" Sendo wanted to vent but decided to hold it in.

...

The school bell rang.

"Alright, that's all for today. Class dismissed!" the math teacher announced.

As usual, he glanced at two polar-opposite students: Sendo, who consistently aced every test, and Sawamura, who... let's just say, didn't.

The two of them shot up from their seats simultaneously as if they had rehearsed it, much to the teacher's bemusement, before heading out.

"Lunchtime!" Sendo cheerfully announced, pulling out his beloved 'small' bento box.

"Whoa! It's even bigger than yesterday!" Sawamura exclaimed, drawing everyone's attention to the enormous bundle Sendo carried.

"Stop yelling, geez!" Sendo grumbled as he slowly unwrapped his bento box.

"What's inside today?" Sawamura asked curiously.

He knew Sendo was a phenomenal cook, and thanks to his parents sending him secret recipes from other countries, Sendo's cooking was on another level.

"Specially marinated beef! I worked so hard to prepare this!" Sendo declared as he finally opened the box.

"Two… two boxes? Isn't that too much?" Sawamura stared at the duplicate container, realizing they probably held over six pounds of meat combined.

"Not at all. This one's for you. That way, none of you will need to steal from me again! I even dug out my backup lunch box for this occasion. How about it? With these brothers united, we're unbeatable!" Sendo declared dramatically as he handed one of the boxes to Sawamura.

"Everyone's welcome to try some! But this one's mine. Sawamura, make sure to wash the box after you're done!" Sendo added.

Though generous, his classmates all knew about his massive appetite, and they couldn't help but laugh.

"I'm starting!" Sendo said, clasping his hands and holding his chopsticks in the traditional Japanese style before digging in.

"I'm starting too!" The surrounding students echoed his sentiment as they began eating.

"This is amazing! So delicious!"

"As expected of the god of cooking, Sendo-sama!" exclaimed a classmate with a flair for the dramatic.

"Hey! Stop stealing my food!" shouted Sawamura as he fought off others reaching into his box.

"Hey, don't forget we have PE this afternoon, including sprints! If you eat too much, you'll regret it!" Sendo warned.

"I got it!" Sawamura replied, his mouth stuffed with meat.

"Yeah, right. But you probably didn't manage to grab that much meat anyway," Sendo muttered as he glanced at the chaos on the other side.

Unfazed, Sendo himself began devouring his food. The meat in his box disappeared at a pace comparable to the group battling over the other box.

...

In the afternoon PE class, the teacher explained the lesson plan, organized the students, and began the sprint tests.

When it was Sendo's turn, he casually ran an 11-second sprint, leaving everyone in awe.

With the entire grade present, the sheer number of gasps and murmurs of amazement was overwhelming.

"As expected! Sendo should've joined the track team! He could go to the Olympics!"

"Why is he wasting his talent as a baseball coach? That laid-back attitude—it's infuriating how naturally talented he is!"

The PE teacher, as always, lamented loudly about Sendo's wasted potential. Even a fool could see how effortlessly he ran, despite his lack of proper form.

However, Sendo's laziness was just as well-known as his talent.
