Explosions were happening all the time as Lucius and Reveria entered the deeper floors, while he quickly cleared the way, she couldn't help but look at him with some surprise.
"Have you been to this place before?" She raised an eyebrow.
"Although my record at the guild shows me reaching the floors just below Rivira, yes, I've been here more times than I'd like..." Lucius commented, recalling the episode about the juggernaut.
"I hope you didn't come here alone..." She commented with a reproachful tone.
"Yes. And I almost died because of it..." Lucius shrugged and continued on, illuminating the darkness of the floor with his magic.
"Why am I surprised..." She commented, following him with a certain bad mood.
They continued entering the floors until they reached the thirty-seventh floor. "Do you want to face it?" Riveria asked, looking at the Udaeus that had just spawned.
"Yes, I'm level 3, I can have good growth here." Lucius commented, making Riveria nod as she stepped away letting Lucius take care of the monster Rex, confident that he could easily handle it.
The fight began with Lucius sending various explosive spells at the creature, Udaeus, enraged, charged at Lucius, but the mage simply took distance with teleport magic, putting Udaeus at a great disadvantage because in the next few minutes, the monster received numerous attacks while it couldn't even reach Lucius.
After Lucius blew up the monster without seeming tired from it, he saw Udaeus falling to his knees while his body was missing so many parts that not even Riveria knew how Udaeus was still alive after that.
"You overdid it..." She murmured.
"You think? I won without getting hurt... could I have surpassed my previous competitors?" Lucius wondered if he might be stronger than Aiz or Ottar, but he knew he couldn't beat them yet.
"You have your strange ability of inexhaustible energy... that's your advantage, but you're still not stronger than a frontline adventurer." Riveria also reasoned, and Lucius ended up agreeing with her logic.
"So, do you want to continue?" She asked, speaking again.
"Why not, I'd like to see the floors below this one, and you will be a great help for me to know what I'll be dealing with when I come to do my raids." Lucius commented with a small smile.
"Lucius... I've noticed that you don't join your team... in fact, you don't even have one... you know that's dangerous. Something might happen!" She seemed quite furious now, and Lucius could understand that too.
"I know, but I won't die like that, I can handle it, I'll always come back at the end of the day." Lucius commented, but Riveria still maintained a furious look.
In the end, she sighed and continued the route to the stairway and floors below, even though she still seemed a bit upset and wasn't talking much to him at the moment.
[Not much information about these floors, so I will say that there are mostly fire-type monsters, as it's a volcanic area.]
As Lucius and Riveria advanced to the thirty-eighth floor, the atmosphere became increasingly tense and dangerous. This floor was known among adventurers as "The Furnace," due to its extremely hot environment and the fire monsters that inhabited its depths.
"This place... is hotter than I imagined," Lucius commented, casting his ice magic to lower the temperature like a walking air conditioner.
Riveria just comments, "This is the least of our problems here. We need to be vigilant at every turn. Fire monsters are unpredictable."
As they proceeded, a deafening roar echoed through the walls of the labyrinth, followed by an even more intense wave of heat. A huge Salamander emerged from the shadows, its blazing flames lighting up the path ahead with a threatening glow.
Riveria, lifting her staff. She began to invoke her magic around her as she prepared a powerful spell, one that could freeze even the fiercest flames.
In the next moment, she quickly cast the spell, creating a rooster sculpture with light moving towards the monster.
*Whistle* Lucius couldn't help but whistle, seeing that she had even frozen the fire.
"..." Riveria said nothing and continued on the way. Lucius knew she was still angry with him. He cast a black hole, breaking the ice and killing the monster, and followed the elf after picking up the crystal.
The rest of the floor was the same, with fire monsters trying to attack him. Lucius had no disadvantage with his fire spells and even time spells, so he opted for casting lightning magic.
Finally, after what seemed like an hour of facing monsters and adapting to the floor, they arrived at the entrance to the thirty-ninth floor. The safe point was a vast room, illuminated by small crystals.
"Let's rest for a bit." Lucius commented, going ahead, using his magic, he created a table with comfortable chairs. He asked Riveria to sit while he placed some items from his spatial storage for them to eat.
"You know..." For the first time, Riveria took the initiative in a conversation since she seemed angry. "Your magics are so useful, we're on this floor with just two people, which should be very difficult..." She admitted, before continuing.
"But, Lucius, you need to consider finding a team. There's strength in numbers, and what we faced today was just a sample of the dangers that exist here. You're the greatest mage I've ever seen, but you can't cover all the sectors of a raid." She commented, looking at him intently.
Lucius knew she was worried. "I know, Riveria. I'll start thinking about it more seriously." He said to reassure her.
"We've been in the dungeon all day... Let's rest..." She said, but Lucius could see the look of desire in her after they seemed to be understanding each other following their small fight.
Lucius didn't make an effort to create a good atmosphere for that, enjoying his night with Riveria. The next morning, they prepared before heading to the deeper floors of the dungeon.
The fortieth floor greeted them with a scenario few adventurers had the courage or ability to explore. If it was warm before, here they could see lava flowing like a river in some parts, and this worsened a lot as they went down. Lucius did not fail to comfort Riveria with his ice magic, earning a thankful look from a girlfriend.
The monsters inhabiting this floor were as peculiar and dangerous as the environment. Monsters of larvae and steam rocks came to face them. Lucius could not afford to fight alone this time and joined forces with Riveria to face them, getting used to this new environment.
At the end of the fortieth floor, they found the passage to the next level, with the temperature getting higher and higher. Their journey continued until on the forty-fourth floor there was an outbreak of monsters coming out of a lava lake. Lucius had to elevate him and Riveria to a safe position before bombing the group of 100 giant monsters with all the magic they could muster, making Riveria quite tired.
After this event, the rest of the floors were more tranquil after deciding they could continue, thus entering the forty-sixth floor, passing through the forty-seventh and forty-eighth until they finally emerged on the forty-ninth floor.
"I still can't believe we got here alone..." Riveria commented quite surprised, since even with her family, they had only reached some floors higher than this. This means that Lucius was someone who could make raids reach other levels with him on the team.
"Don't look at me like that. I'll think you want to have sex here." Lucius said jokingly while Riveria looked at him and rolled her eyes at his joke.
"We're on this floor, but I doubt we can go to the next..." She said, ignoring his last joke.
"Are you talking about the rex monster? I want to have a look, at least." Lucius commented.
"If we're just going to look, we can do that." She said, and they continued walking around the place.
The 49th floor is known as Moytura (大荒野モイトラ) and is a huge room. No grass or trees grow on the desolate soil. The rocks and the sand are all reddish-brown in color.
"So this is Balor?" Lucius commented, looking at the monster in the middle of the place.
"Yes, but we can't get any closer, I'm sure it will detect us like this." Riveria commented, and Lucius nodded.
"Yes. I can't face it now," Lucius murmured, knowing this monster was out of his league.
Riveria glared at him when he used the singular form. "It would be folly to try. You must promise me that you'll come here with a team, Lucius." Her voice turned cold again.
"I'll think about it, anyway, let's go back. I think we have nothing else to do here, and it was a great dive, since I learned a lot about these floors." Lucius commented, and Riveria nodded despite being angry again, but Lucius continued on the way.
Lucius and Riveria continued their way again while Lucius wanted to learn more about the floors below 37, planning his own raids. He had accumulated quite a lot of points during this time and collected many crystals, at least about 60 million in valis, which was a lot of money, and they had been in the dungeon for 3 days.
Lucius had also received the mission of the monster-rex he had killed alone, Udaeus, but decided to spend his millions of points when he arrived in Orario again. The journey of Lucius and Riveria was much shorter, Lucius seeing that there was no longer any need to keep fighting monsters below the deep floors, picked up Riveria after they rested in the safe zone before the water capital and teleported directly to the surface every 50 meters.
"We're here." Riveria looked at the mid-afternoon sun.
"Yes, do you want to go out tonight?" Lucius asked.
"Today I would have to see how things are with my family, I've been quite absent from my responsibilities lately, but maybe tomorrow." She commented, and Lucius nodded.
After they went to the guild and scared Rosa and the man who did the crystal exchange with so many of them obtained after Lucius threw them out of his storage space. He took his 60 million, and Riveria ended up refusing half of them.
"You have a big project, you need all the money possible. Besides, we reached the 49th floor and got so many crystals thanks to you." Riveria spoke, and Lucius ended up accepting her reasoning.
They left the guild leaving everyone still shocked at how those two had managed to get crystals from lower floors, given that there was no raid announced, and they refused to believe that the two had actually been to those floors.
