Dan Walker : Outbreak

February 4th Year: 2048 - 5 hours until the Outbreak

It's a Friday afternoon,you are walking home from school.You reach you'r apartment, lock the door behind you and sit down at your computer,checking your e-mails for anything interesting your,for now,boring life.

2 hours later | 3 hours until Outbreak

You've done some work including your Homework,which you won't need in the future.Turning on the TV reveals that there is active military presence in your area,which is in itself a bad sign.You take notice of that,hoping nothing goes wrong.

Next on your to-do list would be putting your clothes in to the washing machine.You do so successfully,drinking a soda while it finishes.

Looking out the window,the weather is getting darker as if its Winter,but it is Autumn.

Grabbing your clothes out of the washer you realize there's police lights and sirens outside your apartment window.

"Damn it,another suicide ? Couldn't get any worse then that today." you say,not knowing that your life will have a very different purpose ...soon.

2h and 12 min later | ~30 mins until Outbreak

You prepare to go shopping,you lock the door after leaving your apartment for the last time.

Walking down the street you see people running,screaming as if there was a huge sale at a local Mall.

5 mins until Outbreak

You wait in line to get your Coffee at a local Barista just then...you look out the window watching as a car looses control and drives straight for the window of the Barista you are in.

The Impact of the car knocks you back,almost knocking you out.But you feel your heart suddenly jump starting as if running or ... fighting.

Outbreak

As you slowly stand up you see,what can only look like soldiers,checking if someone is still alive.They finally see you,one of them runs up to you.

"Hey Kid,can you hear me ?" the soldier says waving his hand in front of you.You nod in response.

Out of nowhere one of the presumed dead bodies jumps on one of the soldier,it kills him.

His Comrades shoot it,hopefully killing it,you stand up to look at the incident.

"May his Soul be guided by God." one of the other soldiers says while praying.

"Is this a virus outbreak ?" you ask him.He nods.

"They were testing a newly found bio-weapon,one of the labs blew up,releasing the virus into the air,not all people turn into this * points at one corpse they just shot" the soldier answers.

The soldier signals you to follow him saying they would establish a base of operations in a nearby town,that would later become your beloved home.

"What will happen to does that are still outside ?" you ask.

"Only the strong survive,the weak are damned to die" the soldier responds.

You nod,knowing it's true.There a new world in the making and you are one of the few groups that remain.

3 Months later | New Home about 50 km outside the city you once lived in

In the past you met a few smaller groups then the one you left the city with,they decide to join you.Together all of you make out ~150 people,now living in a Town that's fit to hold 250 more residents.

There are 2 Sides that have interest in keeping the people that survived the Outbreak alive.

These are:

NATO - North Atlantic Treaty Organisation,focused on keeping everything democratic,small groups that have a permanent residents must have elections.

Supplies are delivered to the front of the settlement that have chosen to ally with them.

Soldiers and defenders of the settlement are picked out by the current leader,may he be corrupt or not.

Russia - Small Groups that have a permanent residents are NOT allowed to have elections,the strong and fit will ALWAYS be leader.

Supplies are dropped by helicopter or plane directly or close to the Town that chose to ally with them.

Soldier and defender are chosen by the leader of the group,the leader if corrupt has to be executed,failing to do so will result in the whole village being killed and burnt down.

You,chose to ally with the Russians.The primary reason for that is that you'r group has many Women with children and Husbands,democracy can not protect them from the new danger that is lurking.

The Town you all live in,is surrounded by 4 Meter thick concrete walls that can stop everything all the way up to a Tank Shell.

There are Watchtowers on each of the 4 corners of the settlement.With the a Big Steel Gate as the entrance and exit.

Leading the Town is you and a group of women,which have shown respect and understanding in what a town and its people require to survive.

You take the role of the town strategist as well,everyone saw potential in you and the soldiers took notice of that,they picked you.

You and the Council of Women,choose almost every action of this town.The defense,supplying and Raiding of good locations remains to you.

The Council of Women consists of 9 Women in they'r early 25's,some of them married,others not.As long as they don't betray or fail at they'r job that doesn't matter.

The Main line of defense is a specially trained unit,that you are the leader of.They are called the "Night Stalker" (Russian :"Nochnyye Stalkery")

You and you'r men have gotten specially trained by Russia's highest ranking Instructors,nothing was left out.From knowing how to survive on insects all the way on how to pursue women.

Each Resident of the Town get his/her own house.Families are a exception they get a bigger house with a bigger backyard.

Your Home,is a 3 Story house with a garage and a backyard with a pond,with a few lovely fishes swimming around.

Inside the Home,you have 2 bedroom,3 bathrooms.A decently big kitchen on the bottom floor plus a spiral stairwell.

The Town's electricity is run by a generator placed in each of the Home's,fuel is provided by the Russians,the town pays with what they can to be about equal to the amount of fuel they consumed each month.

Town Profession's are also important,reaching from Armorsmiths to Gunsmiths.Seller for Ammunition or Guns to food and water.But the most important one there is,and the people hold it in highest regard is the Stalker Profession,they are the ones risking life and limb keeping the Town safe at all times,they get special offers no one else gets,the residents know that and are not complaining.

The 2nd most important role someone can take, is the Nurse Profession.This Role is only given to Women that have experience in hospitals or Clinics.

Nurses prioratize Stalkers over others,if they are wounded the Town is vulnerable and so are the people in it.

The Currency of the Town,it can reach from items like bullets,gun magazines all the way to jewellery.

You helped rescue and have defended the Town and many people and relatives of others,everyone in the Town knows who you and you'r Unit are.
