12. The Start Of The Compitition

Yun Clan Meeting Hall

At this moment, Yun Liang stood at the center of the hall, giving his report to Yun Tian.

Listening to his report, Yun Tian fell into contemplation.

"Did this Yu Zhou get an inheritance or something? His strength is very abnormal. Just three days ago he was nothing but a mortal, but now he can kill second-tier Energy Gathering stage beasts, and not just one but multiple beasts at once. To win the competition tomorrow, I will have to make some changes."

"Good job, Liang. Go to the treasury and take one thing to your liking. Also, I have another job for you. I want you to participate in the competition tomorrow."

This time, Yun Liang was really surprised because since the competition was announced, his younger brother had been designated to participate. Suddenly changing the decision without consulting any elders was unusual.

Even though he is Yun Tian's son, he wasn't treated like a young master of the family simply because he was born to a lowly servant.

With no other choice, Yun Liang nodded and left. Now that he was going to participate, preparations had to be made. But thinking of Yu Zhou, Yun Liang let out a smile. "It will be fun."

The next morning, inside his courtyard, Universe was getting ready for the upcoming competition. Just as he was about to open the door to his room, a voice suddenly came from outside.

"Son, let's go. It's time."

Universe hurriedly opened the door and walked outside. He was wearing a white robe with silver markings, and his white hair made him look handsome, a unique trait in the city where golden, brown, or red hair was more common than white.

Upon coming out, Universe first greeted his father and then started walking with him towards the clan. Three people in total were going to participate in the competition, including Universe. The other two were Yu Heng, the son of his second uncle, and Yu Jao, the son of guest elders.

Though they were strong, they respected Universe considerably. However, if Universe thought he could make them do anything, he was mistaken. They had their own pride as cultivators.

Yu Heng and Yu Jao were rivals, always competing to prove superiority, yet their bouts always ended in a draw.

Universe didn't know much about them, but he believed he could trust them.

When they stepped outside the clan, they were greeted by three massive bulls tied to a carriage large enough to accommodate a dozen people.

Entering the carriage, everyone took their seats. Five people in total were going: Yu Ming, Universe, Yu Heng, Yu Jao, and a guest elder named Yu Lao.

In this world, if you wanted to become a subordinate or join a family, changing your name was necessary. Yu Lao had done the same. Before joining the Yu Clan, his name was Shi Lao, but he had changed it upon joining.

As their journey began, they headed outside of Spring City. All the clans were experiencing the same preparations. Not only major clans were participating, but also some minor clans. If any of them won, they could choose to belong to one of the four major clans, gaining rights to the mining area.

This was also an opportunity for minor clans to rise above the rest because joining a clan or sect was not easy in this world; it required strength and potential.

The competition would take place where they had found the satin steel mine. Each clan could only bring three participants, while minor clans were limited to two.

Upon arrival at their destination, a sizable crowd had already gathered, mostly spectating.

As they disembarked from the carriage, the spectators began to talk among themselves.

A middle-aged man suddenly spoke up.

"Look, the Yu Clan has arrived. They're the third one; only the Xiao Clan is left."

"What about the minor clans?" another person asked.

"Who cares about them? If they arrive on time, they can participate; otherwise, do you think the four great clans will wait for them?"

"No, they wouldn't."

"But why did the Yu Clan bring Young Master Yu Zhou with them?" someone else asked suddenly.

"Where have you been? Haven't you heard? Young Master Yu Zhou can cultivate now, and he's already achieved a high level in his cultivation."

"What? When did this happen?"

"Maybe you were somewhere drunk," someone replied sarcastically.

As Universe and the others made their way onto the stage, a voice greeted them.

"Oh, so this is Young Friend Yu Zhou. You look very promising," said none other than Yun Tian.

"Yun Tian, keep your words to yourself and focus on your clan's younger generation."

"Hmm," Yun Tian snorted and said nothing more.

Just as they waited a few more minutes, the Xiao Clan also arrived with their younger generation.

And now it was time for the competition to start.

A large arena had been constructed by all the clans working together. Suddenly, a host stood on top of it.

"Greetings, ladies and gentlemen! As you all know why we are here, let's begin. Will all participants please come onto the arena?"

As soon as he finished speaking, almost 40 young people gathered on the arena. Twelve of them belonged to major clans, while the rest were from minor clans. Universe stood in the middle among them.

Seeing that everyone had gathered, the host began to explain the rules of the competition: it would be one-on-one matches, and the last person standing would be the winner. And that clan will get the ownership of this mining area.
