At night after Paul and Regina had dinner together before they went to his bedroom. In his bedroom, now her clothes hung in the closet, the drawers were full of her undergarments, and some of the men's decorations had been swapped with the things that were left behind in her old room. She no longer had to pay him to sleep with him anymore. He stayed beside her throughout the night, and sometimes she even felt his hand reach for hers under the sheets but once he felt her beating pulse, he pulled away.
Regina snuggled beside him, feeling safe. To her security was a rare thing to experience. She had spent the last months of her life being the plaything of someone else. Her freedom was stripped from her, and she had to obey someone else's command all the time. But now only she had her freedom back. And when she slept beside Paul in bed, she felt protected from all the terrible things in the world, from all the horrible experiences she had suffered before in the world.
