Margo's attack had an extremely negative effect on my authority within the castle, and that much is obvious. More students surrounded him, some offering him extra shares of food in exchange for clean water. He probably has more than one water mage under his control now.
Additionally, due to the increase in the number of fire mages on his side, he can be seen enjoying himself with his followers by a large bonfire, pushing away anyone who tries to approach.
In this cold weather, it's incredibly difficult to survive without fire or warm clothing, and despite Bram's speed in hunting, getting 100 coats in just a few days is impossible. Natural fire-starting methods are useless in such weather.
Of course, I managed to light additional fires for the others, but this put a lot of pressure on the only fire mage in our ranks. We've burdened him with too much. Though fire gives some advantage, it's not as critical as water...
