just a simulation?

International space committee meeting, Moscow, Russia.

"So you have officially made contact with the substitutional planet." A man in a suit said with indifference.

"Yes sir, we have prepared the communication beam. This will allow us to communicate with the uncivilized planet."

The man in the suit nodded with a slight flicker of happiness.

"Good, launch the beam. We must contact them as the only other life forms we have seen. This will mark a huge point in history."

Andrew approached the large dungeon corridor as he wiped a bead of sweat from his forehead, the late summer sun glaring down on him as he entered the large double doors.

Andrew Smith, welcome back!

"Yes" He stated loudly as he gripped his long sword, the sword was replaced with a brand new one. Looking in front of him as his terrain slowly morphed into a warmly lit cave.

Unlike his previous battleground this time his terrain was filled with flickering torches and wooden platforms, like a dwarven mine in an old manga.

A large blue light shone in front of him and two figures emerged from the light

"Humans?" Andrew looked in front of him puzzled. He turned his long sword horizontally, the fire light reflected light as it shined forward.

The two figures immersed with a confused look. They turned and saw Andrew as he stood there just as confused.

"Who the fuck are you?" They pointed their weapons at him with a glare. The one speaking had a large axe as he lifted it with his toned arm.

"I could say the same thing, do you remember anything before our meeting?" Andrew responded as he slowly stood in a battle stance.

"Nope, can't say I do. But I have this insatiable urge to beat the twerp in front of me." The barbarian looking man bellowed as he charged forward, his counterpart slowly followed behind.

'Seems like this is more of a leader and servant combination. I should take out the leader while I can, leaving him for last will allow me to get tired.' Andrew thought to himself as he launched forward, his torso almost a vertical line as he used his small stature to his advantage. His sword at his side as he slammed his feet on the ground.

As Andrew approached the large barbarian he rotated his sword to his side, gripping it in a way so that the sword aligned to his shoulder. Hilt at his hip he thrusted doing this allowed him to have no unnecessary movement as he thrusted his sword forward.

GRTH

The barbarian grunted as a sword pierced his throat and blood flooded his lungs.

Withdrawing the sword Andrew pulled back and slashed left causing a large gash In the man's stomach.

Andrew used his elbow to throw his arm right, bringing his sword with him as the man's subordinate rounded the man without any reaction to his gutted teammate.

"Honestly, no planning at all." Andrew said coldly as his sword glided through the air colliding with the man's shoulder.

Andrew pushed his arm down with double the strength of the average person due to his constant leveling. The blade dug into the man's shoulder and slid along the collarbone, decapitating the man.

"….. no" Andrew replied, his gaze locked onto the ground. The blue light consumed the two bodies and eventually the room.

He wound back up into the campus as he stared forward with a puzzled look filled with confusion and worry.

"The blood was still there after the body was taken. Are these really just simulations?" He mumbled as he pushed his way towards his dorm.

'It has to be a simulation, they had no memory of any interaction beforehand.' Andrew waved off his doubt warily as he trudged forward

'I wonder if my dorm buddy will be any good, I hope he's not someone too battle hungry. I'd prefer it if I wasn't challenged for status points every couple hours.' He thought as he walked forward towards the large hotel building, it wasn't necessarily a hotel. But with how much money the school has dumped into their students might as well consider it so.

Opening the door he walked into the grand plaza as the front desk was situated in the center. Behind him was a large trophy case filled with the victory cases from previous tournaments.

"Name please" a young man tapped away on his keyboard. While this action was considered rude his tone was respectful as he raised his head.

"Andrew Smith." He responded lightly while taking a short look around the building.

The young man behind the counter raised his eyebrows slightly, and bowed shortly after.

"Apologies for my rudeness, please follow me sir." His attitude was a bit unexpected, but that's what he felt was needed. He was talking to the #1 rated student overall. He couldn't afford the chance of a small complaint from the young man. His world could change the course of his job.

Andrew was led forward, currently unaware of the thought going through the man in front of him. They entered a small elevator, the walls were glass and gave a very pleasant view of the extraordinary campus.

The hotel had over 30 floors, easily spanning quarter mile long and each floor wasn't a normal floor, the ceilings of each floor were heightened majorly to provide room for spar rooms on each floor.

The elevator carried him all the way up to the top floor. Where the suites had a small balcony and allowed a small pool in every room.

"Here you are, room #6 on the left. Please let me know if I can do anything."

Andrew looked in front of him with distaste, he wasn't a fan of luxury. Not because of him coming from a poor family, not because of the attention it gave him. But because it made him uncomfortable.

He opened up his door to find that he had no dorm buddy, Andrew was slightly deflated because of this. But he didn't mind it. He took a seat in the modern white couch they had provided.

"As I expected, uncomfortable. Really, why do they splurge so much."

The standards of living in today's time were a lot higher, so he turned to look at the small holographic calendar on the table next to him.

September 5th, 2180.

Due to the rapid expansion of technology, humans barely have any jobs left to do, in a literal sense the only job one has is to fight each other. Robots have automated everything in the world so people only can work in communication jobs, like reception and casters.

Andrew sighed as he leaned back. All of his stuff was organized in his room properly as he looked around. A small picture on a small glass table to the right of his chair faced him.

It was his family. His mother, father, his two younger sisters and finally his older brother. His brother was a no show, which was a term to describe people who don't have a job and take an annual deposit from the government.

His sisters were twins, both 14 and aiming to go to school with him at grim wolf.

Suddenly the earth began to shake, Andrew hurriedly grabbed onto the couch and cowered.

"What the hell? Earthquakes aren't possible in Minnesota. The earth plates would have to crumble half of California to even cause a ripple." He mumbled as he looked around terrified.

It came to a sudden stop as he crouched low on the small chair.

"What the hell?"

But nothing more came, everything in his apartment was perfectly fine. So he thought he was just being delusional and sat down and drifted off to sleep looking out on the campus through the wall height window across from him.

~~

Andrew met Zoe at the library once again where he helped her with learning a spell for a solid hour.

"Ughhh, why is this so hard? Of course I can't understand why cutting space works. No wonder people with this ability are so highly sought after." Zoe cried out into her arms as her head laid on the table.

'I can't give you an answer or else I would learn the spell myself, and I don't think I want to waste that right now.' Andrew replied apologetically in his head as he turned his head back towards his book.

The book he had in his hands right now was a game changer, light distortion. It was a light spell that was overlooked as it removed the color from an object. But what Andrew thought about was if you remove all colors, including black. Wouldn't that be transparent or would it be white, perhaps being able to see beyond that? Thoughts rushed through his hands with great speed causing him to rile his hopes up for something not possible.

"I GOT IT, I KNOW HOW TO MAKE PORTALS!" Zoe screamed as she shot up from her chair. Causing people to glare at her.

"SHUT IT" Alex whispered at her. Clearly also annoyed

Andrew smiled and looked down at his book.

--------------

Congratulations! Spell light distortion now learned!:

Light distortion: distort any color within an object, person or element. Effect last while Mana holds.

Limits: must require concentration, you must have a picture in your mind of how it will looks while spell is used. Consumes 2 mana per second

(Not upgradable)

"I should give this a shot in the dungeon. This time around will be more serious" He commented as he stood up and said goodbye.
