Chapter 34: When God meets Gamer

Ayanokouji POV 

We returned to school after being out on a CruiseShip at sea for multiple weeks. It was a refreshing experience I must say and nothing much has happened within after a few days aside from a few things. I'm currently in room thinking about my next move while everyone else in Class S is doing their own thing. I decided that I want to take a simple walk around the campus just for a bit of exercise. 

I went out of my room and started walking after a few minutes, I met Katsuragi. 

"Thank you, Ayanokouji, I owe you one" he said 

"Thanks, I guess" I said. 

Now if you're wondering why Katsuragi thanked me, well let's say that I helped him with something a few days ago that was personal, something family related he told me. I agreed and helped him. It wasn't my business to stick my nose into family matters, but I guess Katsuragi insisted. 

Anyways I continued my walk until I felt someone bump into me. 

"Ohh I'm sorry" she said

"Are you alright?" 

"Yeah, I guess I've been playing so much that I forgot to look ahead, again" she said sheepishly 

"It's okay but mind telling me your name. I've never seen you around here before" I said 

"I'm Ayanokouji Kiyotaka from Class 1-S" 

"Ayanokouji? you mean you're THE Ayanokouji?" she asked 

"Yes I am" 

"ohh thank goodness want to come with me for a bit Ayanokouji-kun, can we talk if that's alright?" she asked. I wonder what she wants from me? 

"Sure" I said as I followed Nanami-senpai. I think this is the 2nd senpai I encountered in this school since the student council president. We walked for a few minutes until we reached a nearby bench.

"Here" she said as she sat down on the bench, and I followed as well by sitting next to her. 

I noticed that she was very focused on that device of hers. I looked and it was a video game she was playing that involves pipes and a red mustached person that's jumping on top of turtles. I never played video games in my life, but this is quite interesting. 

"I can tell you never played video games before, wanna try?" she asked 

"I'm not really particularly good at gaming." I spoke 

"Don't worry Ayanokouji-kun, we're playing co-op so I can help you" she said while giving me another device that was in her pocket. I took the device; it says Gameboy advance. I inspected the device thoroughly trying to figure out how to open this thing. 

"Just press this button right here" she said while pointing at the on button in front of me. I pressed it and the device lit up. The device was loading, and the screen revealed "Sega" and seconds later it popped out to a menu of sorts and the game was titled Sonic Advance 2. I don't know what a Sonic is, but I think I remember Sora talking about Sonic games that one time so this might be the ones he was referring to. 

"Just press start and press for multiplayer" she said as I followed her instruction and then the screen loaded for a few seconds until we got to some sort of Character selection screen.

"Just push the arrow buttons and choose the character you want" 

"Ok" 

From there she gave me some instructions on how to play. Pretty much the controls and objectives of this game is pretty simple. The character I chose was a blue hedgehog thing whose name is Sonic which was the same name as the title of the game and Nanami-senpai chose Tails which was a yellow fox. To be honest I don't know why I ended up playing video games with this 2nd year girl, but I noticed that she's quite impressive with her movement and how she's playing the game. It took me a few minutes to understand the premise of the game until I got the hang of how it works. The goal was to run really fast to reach the goal as well as taking down enemies and gathering rings. The game is fast paced which I guess coincides with the name of the game. We played for a few levels in which I got past her multiple times and made it to the goal not once but twice in first place. 

15 minutes later

"Wow, even if you never played video games before you are quite a natural Ayanokouji-kun" she said while smiling 

"Thanks, I mean I'd like to ask, why did you invite me to play video games?" I asked 

"To be honest, I just want to know if you are as good as they say, of course I'm not talking about video games but how you think and how exactly do you adapt in situations you never faced before" she explained 

"I see so you were testing me using these video games, right?" 

"Yeah, I was" 

Nanami-senpai's motives are pretty clear but is there an actual reason for this. I mean why would a girl like her suddenly ask me to play video games. What's her angle? 

"Well, I didn't just call you here just to play with me but something important." Nanami-senpai said 

"What is it?" I asked 

"Well, it actually has something to do with Horikita-senpai" Horikita? senpai? she must be referring to the student council president. 

"What does he want from me?" 

"Well, you see he needs a favor he wants to ask of you which is also a favor that I need to ask you as well" she said 

"Then what is it" 

"I want you to help me" 

"Help you?" 

"Yes, in case things get worst from here" what does she mean by that? 

"What are you talking about?" 

"Have you heard of Nagumo Miyabi?" 

"Nagumo? well, I've heard his name before but never knew much about him aside from that he's the vice president" I replied 

"Yes, the same one I have a very bad prediction about what could happen to this school" she said 

"hmm?" 

"Well, you see by the next year when Horikita-senpai graduates along with the rest of the 3rd years, that means there needs to be someone who needs to fill the president role. And unfortunately, among the second years. No one has dared to try to qualify for that role except for Nagumo" she explained

"And what's the problem with that?" 

"If you don't know then I'll tell. Nagumo is a student from Class 2-A along with me, his idea was to take over this school as president but his ideals and how he deals things is ruthless and he's willing to expel anyone that's deemed unsuccessful or a nuisance in this school. His attitude isn't fit to be president, and I can't let him abuse the power he has when the next year arrives" she said sounding sorrowful. Is Nagumo this bad? 

"I see and what do you want me to do about it?" 

"I want Class S to help me, I need people who can help me take down Nagumo before he becomes president."

"Please Ayanokouji-kun, will your class help me in the future?" she asked while getting close to my face. 

"I don't know, what's in it for you?" I asked 

"All I want is a peaceful life in this school along with the others as well as peace for me so that I can play video games freely." Is she really this dedicated to gaming but at the same time her goal is somewhat similar to mine since she wants to live a peaceful life as well as peace for the school. 

"I'll consider it" I answered 

"Really! okay thanks" she said while smiling 

"Sure, I guess why not?" 

"Yes! come on follow me" she said while pulling my arm and began walking 

Nanami Chiaki, she seems pretty normal aside from her gaming addiction that's pretty much visible with her personality. Why would she want me and the president to stop Nagumo? What do I have to do in all this as well as my class? Guess there's no turning back I guess but even though Nanami-senpai is an ordinary girl, why do I feel like that I've met one of the smartest persons outside of Class S? Well, I'll never know until I find out for myself.
