Chapter 8

Max told Malcolm not to touch Cassidy's money and that he would be in touch with him by the middle of next week and he walked out of the office. Once at the car he sat down and started thinking about what the will had said and then about what Cassidy had said before she left. Now it all made sense there was someone outside Damons door that day but she didn't stick around long enough to hear the whole conversation or she would know that he told her father where he could shove his money and that he loved her. Now it's just to try and make Cassidy believe and understand that he didn't propose because of her father or his money it was because he loved her.

Max realized that the first place to start would be to go to the house and talk to sylvia. He started the car and went to Cassidy's but he had to make a pit stop on the way. Cassidy was still racking her brain trying to figure out why her father did what he did. She couldn't do it and she didn't need or want his bribe money anyways. She walked around town until it was getting dark. As she looked at her watch she realized it was eight pm. Cassidy was having a hard time finding a taxi to take her home. When she was about ready to give up she heard max's car pull up and stop right beside her.

Cassidy thought he would have been long gone by now. As the window rolled down she heard him say that they needed to talk about today. Cassidy decided that since he listened to her then she would return the favor so she got into the car. As they were driving back to Cassidy's house you could feel the tension going on between the two of them. Max why are you still here, I figured you would be on your way back to London by now. Now Cassidy why would I do that when we have things we need to talk about.

For starters, what was the outburst at the lawyers office about and what is wrong about a marriage between you and i. I mean at one point in time you were happy at the idea of becoming my wife. Oh come off it Max you know exactly what my outburst was about. I overheard you tell dad that you already proposed and asked him what else he wanted. What else did you hear Cassidy max asked? I also heard dad mention ten million dollars after we had a baby and he didn't care whether we stayed together or got a divorce. That was all I needed to hear to know exactly why you were with me.

Cassidy you never came and confronted me or for that matter give me a chance to explain. Instead you gave me some lame excuse about our relationship not being right for you so I'm going to tell you what the rest of the conversation consisted of. I told your father that I didn't want his money and that I loved you and that when it came to kids that that was between you and I and not him then I left and went to find you.
