Chapter 84

Alpha Noah gritted his teeth, there was no denying their allegations, not when his mate had basically admitted to helping him to steal from the Pack and was heartbroken that he hadn't taken her instead.

"Should I?" Theo suggested in a soft voice, he couldn't imagine what the Alpha must be going through.

"Yeah." He allowed, his voice raspy, gold bleeding into his eyes for a different reason.

"Lois, please get the Sheriff over here." He added to his secretary who immediately moved into action, leaving after Theo.

Theo was on his way to detain Brie, she wasn't the Luna anymore. They would hand her over to the Sheriff when he showed up.

He wasn't surprised to find that she had disappeared, no doubt trying to take advantage of the initial confusion that she had caused to escape.

Not on his watch, he had been suspicious of Ethan, he couldn't have ever imagined by a longshot that the demure and kind Luna had fallen for his wiles enough to betray her mate and her Pack.

He whipped out his phone and called Chase, he had put him in charge of the training while he had been answering the Alpha.

A quick explanation of the situation had him and a couple Warriors gunning for the Pack House, they were assigned to make sure that the Luna didn't leave the Pack while he searched through the Pack to find her.

He wasn't surprised when his phone rang again.

"Yo, Head," Chase's voice came through, sounding a bit breathless. "We got her, had to shift to stop her car cause she nearly ran us over. "Is there something I need to know?"

Theo pinched the bridge of his nose, he was relieved that they had caught her, he just wished that it could have happened less dramatically.

"Bring her in, I'll explain when you get here, get rid of the others, tell them to pass my order that they're all dismissed for today." He said briefly, hanging up.

He wondered how it was going back in the Alpha's office, the weres from Pine Creek didn't all need bite marks on their necks for someone to tell that they were basically all mated to each other, it was going to get even messier.

It didn't help that they were from powerful Packs, he muttered a quick prayer to the goddess that this didn't cause a Pack war.

Maybe he should have said something about his suspicions? No...

Even though they had the loud evidence of a missing Leon, the Alpha hadn't been ready to take them seriously, even with the additional evidence of Ethan being missing as well.

Not till his mate had literally shattered their mating bond in front of him that he came to the realisation, Ethan was good like that.

If you couldn't see through him early enough, you never would.

Back at Alpha Noah's office, Darian had started to pace again, feeling caged.

Jaxon had immediately decided to call Ian much to Alpha Noah's dismay, he had tried convincing him to wait till the Sheriff got there at least.

Jaxon had snarled at him when he did that and that was enough of an incentive for him to shut the fuck up.

"Hey, Jaxie." Ian picked immediately, pleasant surprise in his voice. "Is something wrong?" He asked instantly as if he could sense the aura around him.

Darian sat his ass down for this, Leon putting the phone on speaker.

"Leon is missing." Jaxon said blandly, not knowing how to soften the blow.

Ian froze up, he had been walking to Virgil's office, his new assistant needed his help again.

"What?" He exclaimed, disbelief heavy in his voice.

The door opened again, the Sheriff striding in with Head Warrior Theo on his tail, distracting them from their call.

Theo had already filled the Sheriff in on all that they knew, the portly man striding in in his full uniform like he owned the place.

"This better not have something to do with your wolves." He muttered as soon as he came in.

"Sit your ass down, Sheriff Brackett." Alpha Noah said tartly. "We have his twin on the phone."

Sheriff Brackett did as he asked, clearly human and visibly surprised which meant that this had probably never happened before. "You do, do you?" He mumbled, looking them over.

The appreciation in his eyes as he glanced at Jaxon faded away when he caught a glimpse of Darian, his belly quivering at the predatory look in his dark blue eyes.

That was one man he needed to be wary of and if experience had taught him anything, it was that if they were in this big house at the edge of the woods, they were werewolves, like the dark haired man wasn't dangerous enough.

Ian waited impatiently on the other side of the call, waiting for more information, Leon couldn't be missing.

"Do you think your twin would have run away?" The Sheriff directed at the phone.

Ian scoffed. "Leo wouldn't fucking run, as a matter of fact I'm fucking taking this to Virgil."

"Fuck." Alpha Noah cursed, Theo sharing a similar reaction.

Sheriff Brackett looked lost. "Who's that?"

Virgil's voice came through the phone next. "Jaxie? D? What the fuck do you mean by Leo is missing?"

Sheriff Brackett's eyes went wide at the power behind the voice that spoke through the phone next, the rest was self explanatory.

Dominance had seeped through Virgil's voice unconsciously but it was heavy enough that even Sheriff Brackett who was human could feel the pressure.

"We're pretty sure Ethan has him." Darian said without mincing words.

Virgil faltered at this. "Ethan?"

"That's impossible." Ian's voice came through this time.

"He's not the same person he was when he was at Pine Creek." Jaxon said in a steady voice.

"No shit." Virgil muttered. "Never really liked the guy, he always wanted to be my friend so hard even when we both knew it was so that he could get closer to Leon."

"What?" Ian and Jaxon spluttered at the same time, obviously unaware of this little tidbit.

"Still, managing to swipe Leon must have required some heavy duty artillery." Virgil noted. "D, how much danger do you think Leo could possibly be in?"

It was a reasonable question, considering the kind of person Leon was but that would only count if it were anyone else.

"On a scale of numbers, it's a fucking neon red." He grinded out. "Ian, I know you've got a tracker on your twin, fucking tell me where he is."

Ian shared a look with Virgil at his tone, there were a lot of unexpected things happening so soon after the sun rose.

"Yeah I do, as long as he has a piercing on." Ian agreed, pulling out his pad.
