Chapter 83

Theo figured that it was definitely something that Ethan could do, the kid made all his hackles rise ever since he came into town with his sick and dying father, the feeling worsening when he came back from college.

Jaxon had a harder time coming to terms with it, although his last interaction with Ethan stood out starkly in his head, it was still Ethan.

Why would he want to kidnap Leon?

"We all slept, then we woke up and found Leon gone, his side of the bed was cold to indicate that he had been gone for a while and after checking to make sure that he wasn't in some other part of the house, we came to you." Darian concluded calmly which was a feat considering how frail his hold on his temper was.

"Now if you could just produce your Head Beta so we can move on." Jaxon added tartly, he wasn't the violent type but if Ethan had taken Leon for whatever reason, he saw himself bashing his head in.

Alpha Noah spluttered at this, clearly cornered. "I-I... I have no idea, he's a grown man who can decide to go wherever he wants without letting anyone know." He tried to cover up.

"Who knows if that wasn't what happened with your Head Warrior? He is all grown up, isn't he? He's probably just taking a walk or something."

Jaxon had to throw himself at Darian to stop him from tackling Alpha Noah who leaned back in his chair in apprehension.

"Next time you slip up, I won't hold him back." Jaxon said calmly, a vein ticking on his forehead.

The door opened before Alpha Noah could formulate a reply, Theo just watching the scene in front of him.

Luna Brie walked in, heading straight for her mate, her surprise palpable as she took in the people in the room, heavy tension roiling around.

Jaxon studied the Luna closely. "So we can put it down as a fact that Ethan is gone as well." He said casually, watching Brie's reaction closely.

He didn't need to because her reaction was explosive.

"What?" She exclaimed, disbelief heavy on her tone.

She had gone to sit on her mate's legs while facing him but Jaxon's words made her spin around.

Alpha Noah tightened his arms around her. "I had that same reaction, there's no way Ethan would kidnap someone else."

Luna Brie was just whiplashed by this new influx of information and she wasn't taking it very well, all the blood was draining from her face, her skin going ashen as her eyes darted around the room like she was looking for an escape.

She didn't get her chance though because yet another person knocked on the door and pushed in.

Darian was starting to get irritated with all of these interruptions, considering all the bruises that Leon had acquired from hanging out with Ethan, it made his stomach curl to imagine what else he would do without the fear of other people finding out.

It made him want to smash his head into the nearest wall, he had been scared to push too hard with Leon and now they had lost him.

A dour looking woman with heavy rimmed glasses walked in, giving her greetings out after hesitating slightly at the unexpected amount of people seated in her Alpha's office.

"Is something wrong, Lois?" Alpha Noah asked his secretary, glancing at his mate who kept fidgeting.

Lois was unimpressed by the atmosphere they had all created in the room. "I believe you would prefer to hear this privately." She said calmly, glancing down at the files in her hand.

"Just get it out with." Alpha Noah said impatiently, thinking that nothing could possibly be worse than the issue they had on hand.

"Very well." She agreed in her nasal voice, leaning her curvy weight on one leg and then the other.

"Most of the money in the Pack's reserves is gone, I figured that if you were the one who took it, you would inform me to document it so I came right away to inform you." She concluded levelly like she hadn't just dropped shattering news on them all.

Alpha Noah straight up choked, his pallor matching that of his mate.

Somehow the news of Ethan leaving affected the Luna more because she barely batted an eyelid at the fact that her Pack was basically bankrupt.

They all watched on as the Alpha tried to compose himself, holding Brie tight to steady himself.

"There are only two people who can access the reserves." He said slowly, coming to terms with what that could possibly mean. "And if I didn't do it, it means..."

He trailed off at that point, everyone watching him closely and moving their gazes to Luna Brie as he did so.

"Love, do you know anything about this?" He asked his mate in a gentle voice, turning her face to meet his.

Brie on the other hand was just coming to a realisation of what had happened to her.

Ethan had tricked her that they would run away together and spent the rest of their lives travelling around the world but somehow the money was all gone and so was he but she wasn't?

He had left her behind because of that tatted freak?!?

"Get your hands off me." She bit out at Noah, storming to her feet.

His shock was palpable and Jaxon's heart twisted a bit at the lost expression on his face.

Brie stopped right in front of Jaxon. "This is all your stupid boyfriend's fault." She jabbed a finger at him.

"You all had to come and ruin shit for me, fuck you, fuck all of you!" She raged.

Darian just eyed her darkly, waiting for her to make a move to attack Jaxon. Luna or not, he was knocking her out.

But she just stormed out, raging at how she would find Ethan and Leon and make Leon pay.

Jaxon doubted that was likely, even if she somehow managed to find them, Ethan would have her dead body tossed in a creek somewhere before she even got her hands on Leon.

"Seems like you have a lot of shit going down." Darian noted coldly.
