The progress as a navigator, a cartographer and a meteorologist

'Now this is what you call a sea chart !' Nami thought to herself as she looked at her creation with pride.

"Fuck ! My map is way more detailed than the shit sold by the marines ! This is what you called a fucking perfection." Nami declared with pride as for the first time she has been succeeded creating the map of conomi Island along with the exact sea level around it.

While navigation and meteorology came naturally to her from the day one, cartography was something that Nami has been struggling with for a long time. It was not that she doesn't understand the concepts. But making a map of an entire Island with limited tools and measure the ocean level around the Island was very hard for her. She has made a lot of maps of her Island. But none of them where satisfactory to her. That's why she has been constantly drawing it over and over again for years.

And now finally she has done it to perfection.

Now she can actually declare that she has mastered the art of cartography.

(AN: Cartography is not an art. I have written it in such way to emphasize Nami's passion for it.)

This time Nami's dream is different. Obviously she is not same as the canon Nami. Nami wanted to collect every hidden treasure in the ocean. But for that she will have to learn about how to navigate, how to map and how to successfully predict weather in order to not become a collateral damage in bad weather.

And fortunately with her knowledge from her previous life everything became very easy for her. At the age of 9, she has finally mastered all the needed skills to become a treasure hunter.

Her dream might seem similar to that of Buggy D Clown. But she was not a slacker like the clown. Along with fighting and these three necessary skills, she has also been learning about survival skills from Bellemere. Not only that but she was also learning how to dive into the sea.

From her knowledges about the canon, Nami knows that the chances of getting hidden treasures underwater is more than that of over water. So she was also preparing for a scenario where she will have to dive into the deep water in order to get the treasures.

Nami's moto is very simple. Grind now and relax later. She knew that her future is not that bright. So she has been preparing to face it from the very beginning.

Nami was not stupid. She has thought about other ways in order to avoid the tragedy of Arlong.

The best way being sail to the dawn Island and plead Monkey D Garp for help.

Obviously since he is a marine, then he will be unavailable for most of the time. But Nami could simply wait there in order to meet Garp.

This was one of the way to save not only her family but also the entire Island.

Then there is another way in which they can simply leave the conomi Island and go to somewhere like foosha village.

But there are many flaws in these two plans.

In the first plan involving Garp, was dangerous in a way. He might force her to join the marines if he learns about her skills as a navigator and cartographer. And Nami doubted that, she could survive the fist of love of Garp like the trio of brothers did.

The problem with the second plan was Bellemere herself. Nami didn't have a solid reason to leave the island. It is not right she has not tried with some reasons like more opportunity outside this Island and such. But the thing was Bellemere didn't want to leave her birthplace just to grow her business.

So her only option ways to prepare for the future as much as possible.

She didn't have a cheat which would make her reach admiral level strength overnight. In fact in terms of power, she doesn't have much potential like The monster trio.

So the only way for her was to learn as much tricks as possible before the inevitable doomsday.

At the age 9, she was already five feet high, which was almost a foot taller than her elder sister Nojiko. Although she was still completely flat and looked skinny, she has gained considerable amount of strength to sail all alone.

She has already learnt as much as possible regarding sailing, navigation, and metereology to set sail. Obviously she has no real life experience yet. But there is a first time for everything. It is just a shame that she will have to learn it possible hostile circumstances.

'after leaving this Island I will need to collect money anyway. It will be better if I prepare early. Now my next goal, creating a proper sailing boat. This will be very hard. I don't want others to discover it. It will be my ticket to go out of this Island after Arlong takes it over.' Nami continued to think about how to acquire a proper sailing boat in one year time.

"Nami.... Can you come downstairs now ?" Bellemere's voice woke up Nami from her future thoughts regarding the boat.

'Why is Belli at home right now ? She should be busy in the farm. Did she found my secret stash of alcohol ? No, my secret stash should be safe. There is no way Belli would ever found them. And besides her voice is normal. Not sweet at all. Maybe she needs me for something else...' shrugging her shoulder, Nami got up from her chair. Adjusting her skirt, she shouted, "coming" at Bellemere.

"Oh ! Nami, I have been looking for you." Bellemere told her daughter when she came downstairs.

"What do you want ?"

"You see, mr.Gan is going to take our syrups to the nearby island. But his helper is sick today. Can you go with him to help him carry the barrels ? We need to send these barrel by tomorrow evening. I would have gone. But the work in our field has not finished yet." Nami was shocked hearing Bellemere's request.

Because it was the first time, Belli was asking Nami to go out of the island without Nami pestering her.

In the past Nami has requested Bellemere to let her go outside the island during the shipment of their syrup. But previously Bellemere had denied her because there was no need for her presence. So it was a big surprise that this time she was a requesting her to go.
