Up To Speed

Ingot quickly moved to get Hugo and his team upto speed. He quickly explained what they needed to do. And How to exactly handle the situation.

The sudden request from the bridge had put Hugo and his team into a problematic position to say the least.

They were strapped to their chairs in the Engineering bay when the request had came. Although they didn't know much about this ReactorXene that they were talking about, Or had any idea on how explosive this stuff really was, But he trusted the scientists to do their job and figured that if they were suggesting this then it was gonna be okay.

So Hugo and his team got up from their seats under the 1.9Gs. Under so much pull, they could barely walk. So they quickly slotted their suited bodies into some power armors.

The power armors were gonna help by supporting their bodies through this event.

They moved quickly to received the missiles that had been sent over by the armory.

Kita had already ordered the Armory to send over all the GalaxyWraith G-6602 missiles over to the engineering bay.

The Yeager had only 10 of them and all of them had to be used.

Hugo's team quickly moved to secure them to their working table and began to disassemble them. They needed to separate the payload from the rest of the missile which was easier said than done.

Meanwhile, Hugo moved to prepare the small industrial cooling device in the bay. This would be used to cool down the substance down to -1200 Celsius.

This industrial cooler was quite a handy thing to have around. It was really efficient and was quite self contained. So the chill didn't spread around and was neatly contained within the chiller itself.

Hugo's team had already finished disassembling a few of the missiles, They brought over the payload over to Hugo who was in charge of the cooler.

The ReactorXene was actually a granular solid. Which meant that He only needed to transfer them from one container to another. Hugo quickly emptied all the payload containers and put everything inside another container. Which would also be used to transport the substance after it was cooled.

Once all the missiles had been disassembled, and all the ReactorXene transferred to the container, Hugo put the container inside the chiller.

The Chiller was set to -1350 Celsius just to be safe.

It took around 30 seconds for the chiller to cool everything down to the desired temperature. Once that was achieved, Hugo pushed a button that closed the container and isolated all materials inside.

One of the interesting properties of ReactorXene was that it turned into a liquid once it was cooled down to more than 800 degree Celsius.

In this state, it couldn't react with other materials and couldn't be combusted. To combust it, it needed to be turned back into a granular solid by heating it up. Only then it was able to react with oxygen and combust into flames.

Hugo took out the container from the chiller and sent it over to the engine room. As it needed to be injected into the primary fuel chamber of the thruster, Only they could do it.

The guys in the thruster room hooked up a pump that would add everything to the backup reserve part for the primary fuel chamber.

From there, they could just inject it directly into the thruster from there.

Back on the bridge, Kita hold his breath as he watched the countdown in front of him. There was only a small window in which they needed to get the boos they required, After that, it wouldn't be enough.

As there was about 30 seconds left on the clock, He got the green light that everything was ready.

He quickly gave the order and the operator pushed the button that would start injecting it to the rear thrusters.

It took a few seconds, But once the explosion started, the speed gain was quit real.

It was working.

Although it was hard to figure out how much it was damaging the thrusters, That could come later. Right now they need to keep things going.

As more and more ReactorXene got injected out of the rear, The Jeager gained more and more speed. After about a minute, It had already gained 10% of it's previous velocity.

With the increase in speed, So came the increase in G-force. The Antigrav modules embedded into the decks were long running at capacity, So the increase in G-force would be proportional to the gain in speed.

Every single soul onboard was strapped directly to their chairs. There was no way anyone could go through this much g-force standing on their two feets.

Kita was currently dug into his seat as he watched everything unfold. The Jeager was gaining more speed every single second.

Within the next two minutes, The Jeager had gained speed steadily. It had already gained another 30% from it's previous velocity. Which put it really close it it's goal for the 35% increase in speed.

Kita knew that the last 5% wasn't gonna be easy. This was where they needed to increase the amount of ReactorXene injected into the thrusters.

So as soon as the speed reached the bottleneck, The amount of ReactorXene being injected had been increasing steadily.

"32% gained." Ingot who was monitoring the gain spoke.

"33%"

"34%"

"35%! Target reached!" He spoke through the comm.

"Stop injecting!" Kita Ordered.

They had already reached their target. Injecting any more would could be detrimental to this maneuver. So it was in their best interest to hold their current speed as much as possible.

By now, The G-Force had already reached way over the predicted amount and sat on 12.4. Which was quite high.

Although nobody noticed, Many of the crew aboard began to hallucinate due to the lack of oxygen that reached their brains.

Although their vac suits noticed this and injected stimulants into them to keep them as stable as possible, But no matter what, They couldn't sustain this for long.
