Sinister intentions

Kita came back to his lab straight after that. He needed to move fast. Time was short and The shore would probably be continuing it's journey soon enough. So he got in his lab and then locked it down. No one would be able to come in after that. He didn't want anyone to know what he was working on. And he didn't want anyone to disturb him while he worked on figuring out a method to destroy the monolith. That would be problematic in more than one way.

As he reached his terminal, he quickly sat down and began checking on the progress of the Analysis on the data. It was only 20% done and would still need a bit of time. He couldn't really do anything about it. So he began to call up and review the various data and reports that the researchers had gathered from B1.

He took a look at the trees first. They were the most fascinating out of all. The trees that were seemingly made out of Xenon were an anomaly to say the least. But what kita was curious about the most was the reason behind their existence. The trees didn't make much sense if one thought about it. There was no real reason or purpose behind them. They just converted the various raw elements in the surrounding nature into a composite that fit it's needs and used that to grow itself. But what was it trying to achieve? From the initial reports and findings, the trees didn't have any reproductive function. The huge trees that were found in the forests didn't seemed to be reproducing in any way. So that left a huge question behind. If the trees didn't reproduce, then what was their purpose? As far as Kita could figure it out, There were none.

But there was something else that was of great interest to Kita. In the process of growing themselves the Trees seemed to be using a huge amount of power. But the source of that power wasn't obvious. One could deduct that the energy was coming from the energy lines that ran throughout the whole planet, but that didn't seem to be the case either. The energy in the lines didn't move in any direction. Except for the lines near the monolith. Because there the energy in the lines were moving uniformly towards the monolith. It was logical if one thought about it.

The Monolith was clearly an machine that served some kind of purpose, whether it was defensive or other still remained a mystery. But whatever it did, it needed a huge amount of energy to do it. It also had an additional drain on it. And that was the need to maintain the super-state of itself.

Keeping itself in such an extraordinary state of matter that bent the laws of physics was surely an energy intensive matter. Everything put together, The Monolith alone needed a huge amount of energy to function. So the drain on the energy lines near the monolith was quite substantial. But The source of all that energy still remained a mystery.

Energy couldn't me created or destroyed, only transferred. So all that energy needed to come from somewhere.

"No matter what, the whole planet is too energy hungry to function without an energy source.", Kita murmured to himself.

That was when he realized something. How could he forget about this. He slapped his head in disappointment.

The planet received a huge amount of energy on a regular basis from the 2 stars in the form of heat energy. Every cycle the planet got so close to the local stars that it received a huge amount of energy in the form of heat from the local sun. This happened during the heating cycle. Although much of the heat was supposed to be radiated back into space one it began it's cooling cycle, but it seemed to Kita that it might not be the case.

"What if the planet somehow stored all that energy somehow and then used that to supply itself throughout it's cool down journey?" That was a fascinating theory. But it could make sense. With the right technology, it wasn't impossible to harvest the insane amount of heat energy that the stars generally gave out.

But Kita didn't have any idea on how it did that. There wasn't enough data to deduct the method the planet might use to store all that heat energy and then accumulate it inside the energy lines.

Kita began to look up the energy lines next. These were another fantastic piece of alien engineering that was highly interesting to a researcher like Kita. These energy lines were made out of an unknown element that humanity was yet to come across. But the lines were able to store an unimaginable amount of energy inside it without any loss. That was simply too good to be true. Every energy storage method that humans came up with had some kind of energy loss when storing long term. But these lines didn't degrade the energy inside them. So this was a seemingly perfect storage medium of energy! That was quite revolutionary.

But Kita thought otherwise. His theory was that the energy leak of the lines were so minuscule that when compared against the huge amount of energy it stored, the loss was negligible. He didn't believe that there was no downside on storing all that energy in such a small volume of space.

This gave Kita an interesting idea on how he could destroy the monolith.

"If there's so much energy running through the lines, What if they were to be released? What would happen?", This was an intersting thought.

If all that energy inside the lines were to be released simultaneously then surely it would be enough to overload the monolith and cause it crash right? Afterall, the Monolith was a machine. An intelligent one, but a machine nonetheless. If one were to overload a machine, it would naturally fail. Kita believed that was also the case for the monolith.

If he could figure out a way to release all that stored energy running through the lines. Then it should definitely give him the desired effect.

Kita had found a way forward. So he began to call up all the data that was collected about the lines in order to find the next step forward.

Hello again! I'm planning something big for the 50th chapter. So it may be a bit late. But I'll try to update it twommrow. Thanks for sticking with me. I hope I won't dissapoint you with what I've planned for Kita and the crew. Thanks for reading <3
