Big Boss - The CEO

All day Arvita busied herself on her bed broom. She was still glued to her laptop, looking for several pages and job search sites, and opened it many times.

She also began to selectively look for a secretary job position, although she was a little traumatized by what she had experienced.

Arvita tied her hair very high, letting some strands of her hair stick out undirected.

She wore her glasses which had dropped down to the middle of her nose.

"This... Secretary Jobs. At least, have two years experience in the secretarial field..."

Arvita started reading a job seeker page.

"Well... here it is..."

"Speaking of foreign languages, English and Mandarin. Ready to work for more than ten hours, ready to work if called upon in an emergency – even on a holiday schedule."

"Hah?!"

Arvita began to look cynical reading the classification given.

"Preferably single, unmarried, Widow could be considered... Haa....?"

"Nonsense...! Next..!"

Arvita began to press the mouse in annoyance and began to search again.

"Let us try this one..." she mumbled, watching her laptop.

"Secretary position, at least three years experience in the field, Fluent in English, and ready to be placed to work in the middle of the Pacific Ocean waters."

"Haaaa???????!!! It's even more ridiculous!! Why does the secretary work in the ocean? Is it a mermaid?"

Arvita started pressing the mouse button in annoyance. It's been all day she still can't find a suitable job.

Skipping her breakfast and lunch hour, Rohimah couldn't even order her daughter to come out of the room.

Her cellphone vibrated quite strongly. Arvita was still staring at her laptop screen. She doesn't seem to care about incoming video calls.

Her cell phone vibrated again. Arvita only glanced at her cellphone. Only to find out who made the video call to her.

"Rani?"

Arvita immediately took her cell phone and picked up a video call from her cousin.

Rani Nathalia is a beautiful cousin who is seven years different from Arvita.

Her cousin, whom her mother has always been proud of – Rohimah. Her cousin is a former secretary. She ended her career because she decided to marry and take care of her only son.

Arvita slightly smoothed her hair and moved her lips randomly, trying to keep her face so as not to look shabby and still look cheerful.

"Hai... Rani..." Arvita greeted.

Rani's tiny face, with shoulder-length short black hair, immediately appeared on Arvita's cellphone screen.

Rani is seen in the dining room with Raihan, who is four years old. Raihan sat in his small chair with an apron with a picture of a cow tied around his neck.

"Raihan, please greets aunty," Rani orders gently to her son, who is playing with his fork and spoon.

"Hello, onti... Ho al yu" said Raihan with a cute and slurred voice.

"Hey, Rai... I really miss you. What are you eating? Is Mommy's cooking delicious?" Arvita's sarcasm on purpose.

"Don't start again, Arvita. Why don't you come here? I think Jakarta and Jogja aren't far," Rani replied.

"I'll visit you, but not now because of many jobs I need to do," said Vita lying.

She didn't want Rani to know that it was the third time she had quit her job.

"Oh yeah? I thought your mother said if you were quiet and not working?" Rani stares suspiciously. She starts to put her cell phone far enough away.

This time, Arvita could see Rani was helping Raihan to feed.

"I got caught. What are you talking about with my mom?" Arvita asked and was furious.

"Don't get mad at your mom. She's worried about you, Arvita. She only wants the best for you," Rani tried to be diplomatic. Her dimple smile immediately appeared in front of Arvita.

"Raihan, come on! You have to eat this carrot." Rani orders while giving a small piece of carrot to Raihan's spoon.

The boy immediately covered his mouth with both hands and shook his head quickly.

"Open your mouth! Come on, Raihan! Open your mouth!" Rani said firmly.

"No, mommy! I don't want it!" Rayhan said while closing his mouth.

Rani took a deep breath and looked at Arvita.

"Have you got a new job yet?" Rani asked, and Arvita just smiled shyly and shook her head.

"Not yet. But don't worry, I'll get my job as soon as possible," Arvita replied.

"Let me offer you. I don't know whether you want this secretary position or not, but because the personnel manager is my friend. What I can assure you is that the work is clear and unobtrusive."

Arvita straightened her cellphone screen, getting interested in hearing more details from Rani.

"Big boss, the CEO. He just arrived from Indonesia about six months ago. And the information from my friend, he had changed secretary five times. He was looking for a secretary with a good work ethic, honesty, and not adventurous."

"Really? Are you serious? I think that's a fit for me." Arvita is still in disbelief.

"Well... you should try it first for the interview. There's nothing wrong with that, right? Later if you want, I'll send you the link. How?"

Arvita was silent for a moment. Her mind was processing an answer. Should she give it a try, or should she refuse and keep looking on job search sites?

But this is her cousin who offers, at least she should try it. And that's not a problem for her, even if she doesn't fit in, she can keep looking for another job.

"Alright! I'll try," Arvita answered cheerfully and enthusiastically.

***

After dinner, Arvita had not decided to continue to dwell in her room. After helping her mother tidy up the rest of the dinner. She decided to join her father was already busy with his favorite TV show.

Arvita appeared with a plate of peanut shells full, sitting next to her father who still hadn't taken his eyes off the television screen.

"What are you watching?" asked Arvita, even though Rojali was still staring at the television screen.

"Look at that. It's a really cool movie! Some people can fly, and some have advanced weapons. They can make bombs. Some even become big green monsters," Rojali answered without looking at his daughter was still staring in amazement.

Rojali has been an activist for foreign television programs since Arvita decided to install some movie programs at her home.

His father was so amazed by the large selection of shows, which he had never seen before.

An Avengers movie was Rojali's choice that night.

"Ooohhh... Avengers movie? I've watched it ten times."

"What? How can you watch for ten times? Huh... that's why you become unemployed?" Rojali couldn't believe it.

"Dad... nothing to do with my job!"

"Ahh... it's not cool if you've watched it. Don't tell the spoiler me!" said Rojali angrily.

Again, he was busy watching his movie.

"What are you watching?" Rohimah, who had just arrived, sat beside her husband.

She began to be confused by her husband, who did not budge with her arrival.

"This is a cool movie. You must watch this!" answered Rojali, and still did not return his wife's gaze.

"What movie?" Rohimah asked.

"Apengger..."

"Avenger, Dad!" Arvita corrected and emphasized the sound of each syllable. So that his father can pronounce it correctly.

"Ahhh....it's all the same." Rojali didn't care.

Arvita just opened her mouth and started peeling the peanuts.

Rojali also did the same, picking up some peanut shells that were on the table.

"Arvita? Are you not going anywhere tomorrow?" asked Rohimah, in a very soft tone of voice.

"Why? Do you want me to go shopping at the market, mom?" Arvita guessed.

"No! Tomorrow we have guests." Rohimah smiled and looked suspicious.

"Is the family gathering schedule again?" Arvita asked again.

"Not family gathering. Tomorrow an important guest wants to come." Rohimah smiled sweetly, although Arvita felt that there was something strange about her mother's explanation.

Rohimah immediately nudged her husband who was still watching.

"Hey, you said that you'll help explain..." Rohimah said curtly.

"Uhmm, what?" Rojali asked, and his wife widened her eyes even more in annoyance.

"You haven't forgotten about a man named Safei. He's the one who wants to meet Arvita," Rohima glared at Rojali with annoyance.

"What's wrong with you two?" Arvita increasingly suspicious folded her hands tightly and annoyed.

"So... how should I tell it? Ahhh, I have a classmate. We've been friends for a long time. He has a son named Safei. The plan is tomorrow, he and his son will come to visit. You don't have to worry because it's just a meeting to get to know each other."

"MOM!! DAD! SERIOUSLY?!" Arvita screams in annoyance.

"I told you I don't like it when you guys keep trying to set me up with a guy I don't know! I don't want to meet that guy or whoever you choose!" Arvita insisted, her eyes bulging in annoyance.

"Why are you so stubborn? You deserve to get married and have children. If you get married, then you don't have to work hard. You can be a housewife and take care of the family," Rohimah explained.

"Gosh, how can you think like that!!! I don't want an arranged marriage, nor do I want to get married!" Arvita got up from her seat in annoyance.

She turned her body to walk, leaving her parents staring at her back.

"I'm so tired tonight. Tomorrow I have important things to do. It's up to you and the guy. I don't care," said Arvita curtly.

"Arvita? Why are you leaving? We haven't finished talking yet. Besides, tomorrow we'll just meet that guy. He's a good guy, don't let you regret it later," Rojali shouted.

"I can't hear what you're saying! Bye ... dad!" Arvita replied from a distance while covering her ears.

Arvita immediately entered her bedroom. She threw herself on the bed, grabbed a pillow, and immediately covered her head. She screamed in annoyance and cursed harshly.

After a few seconds, she did this. She put down the pillow she had used to cover her face.

Her breaths were still chasing each other in annoyance. She thought that recently her parents had often tried to set her up with someone she didn't know.

"Aaarrrgggghhh!! It's so annoying!" Arvita shouted and covered her face with the pillow again.
