Chapter 47

blinding their eyes. Alex and Amy felt their eye lids heavy and lazy. Feeling completely weak they both felt on the ground.

"Did you hear that?" Mark put the book on the table and glanced at them. They were all shocked as well.

"I'm sorry?" Yiana and Simon stared at each of their confounded face.

"That was really intense; it's been such a long time since we felt that kind of magic around here." Ian agreed. "Who might have done it?"

"What are you guys even talking about?"

"Princess, as the council we can feel any powerful magic if performed." Jon explained. "And such magic has been performed. But the trouble is who have done it and where?"

"Will that be satisfying," a long woman walked inside the room, her face small and sharp. "to know that I've done it."

"Mother?" Simon gasped. It's been such a long time since he last saw her. "What brings you here?"

"Certainly not you my son." Her answers were always that clear, whenever she had nothing to hide from them. One thing that endeared her to everyone she knew. And one more thing, they were all aware of, is that she wouldn't have left the Eden garden that promptly if things wouldn't have been serious. Her hands still behind her back, she descended the stairs.

"Where's Jack?"

"He is concocting a potion." She answered. "Amy has been touched with the curse of the spell, and she was acting to it."

"How could that be possible?" Jon interfered. "If that were the case I would have sensed it. A dark magic as that,"

"Do you think that the first council, are so innocent for not knowing how to place their move?"

"How did they do that?" Ian agreed.

"And how's Amy?"

"Maybe they found something to connect with her thoughts, persuaded her to choose what they want." She supposed. "She tried to kill Alex. But both are fine. She was surely hypnotized I presumed. That's why I asked Jack to prepare a potion for both of them. They need it badly. To restore their strength."

"Well, I thank you for being here."

"I take it that you wanted to find the door?" She nodded and took a seat. "And did you all thought that the way to it, would be in these books? Do you really think that they are that stupid as that?"

"Then I suggest you tell us the way to it." Simon said, staring at the latter.

"The door is everywhere." She replied. "Oh I would like some tea." She grabbed the cup from Jon hand and sipped some. "It's a bit sour though."

"Then maybe you shouldn't have it." Jon snatched the cup from her hand. "And if you tell us about the door?"

"I've already said it." She smiled. "The door shall be open if your willingness is as strong as you presumed."

"How should we do that?"

"That, only Amy would be able to answer it. Let her decide. And you shall all find your answers before you."

"Is she ok?" Alex asked as he drank the potion. He still felt a twinge of pain on his neck, blood line was formed from the flames. "Yuck, that is so bitter. How is this going to give you strength?"

"Well, you can't expect it taste good, it was made from gerade fruit," Jack took the glass from him, as the latter shook his head in amazement. "Yes, the most poisonous fruit that grows on the Eden garden. Yet, a very nice remedy to restore life inside an almost dying person. Of course if one knows how to concoct it properly."

"And I should rest my faith on your ability to have prepared it correctly?" he dubiously added.

"Not exactly on me, but you rest assure, because it was Chimera who made it." As an elf, she was good at making potion even the most complicated one. "And she is giving it to Amy at this précised moment. She needs it as well."

"I wonder how she will cope with that."

"With the fact that she almost killed you? I'm not worried about that, but rather if she is fine now. Like fine, not hypnotized."

"I guess you are right. Only one way to find out, let's go meet her."

"There you go. I know it would be a little bitter but,"

"Bitter? What are you talking about I find it rather sweet."

"Is it? Ok. How are you feeling now?"

"I feel as if I've been up to something and it is really heavy on my consciousness right now." Amy stammered. "But I don't remember. Oh, that is really like a burden I'm feeling. I feel like crying and," she ran her fingers on her forehead which was now humid and hot. Maybe she was having fever. Or maybe that weird dream she had has something to do with it.

"My suggestion is that you should relax." Chimera helped her on the bed. "You need some sleep."

"But that is absurd. I've been sleeping, god knows for how long. But still I feel some, kind of tiredness."

"I think it's because of the atmosphere." She lied. She knows that she couldn't just tell her that she almost killed the one she loved. Especially not when she doesn't even remembers it.

"Hey, are you all right?" Simon barged into the room, followed by Alex and Yiana.

"I guess I am." She frowned at the anxious glance they gave her. "Oh my god, Alex what happened to your neck?"

"She is all right." Chimera interrupted. "I just gave her the green tea I've prepared for her. And guess what, she liked it. She finds it really sweet. I might have exaggerated on the honey syrup, a little bit. Did you find it sweet as well, your majesty?"

"Huh, yes. It was really sweet but nice, thanks Chimera." He already understood the beat around the bush, talk.

"Remind me to try to add less honey next time, Yiana."

"Chimera, would stop beating around the bush, and tell me what exactly happen here?" Amy leaned on the pillow and started at them.

"Nothing happen."

"Really, then why Alex seemed to have been hurt on his neck? And why I'm feeling so tired?" she halted. "Look I know that something happened and you are all hiding it. I know it because I can feel an emptiness and burden on my heart. Something really wrong happened and it is because of me." After considering, she ultimately understood the fact, "It's the curse. Isn't it?"

"We did have a little something that happened, but everything is all right now." Alex added.

"You know Alex I choose not to bank on anyone's words now that I know how the world work especially when you try to hide the mistake of someone you love, it's always the same answer, nothing happened, or it's not a big deal…." She halted and glanced around at their counterfeit smile. "What happened?"

She nearly chocked when the latter told her what exactly happened. "See that is why I didn't want you to know." Alex sat on the edge of the bed and gently ran his fingers on her hand. "Believe me, it's nothing and everything is fine now."

"I…," she lowered her eyes, unable to say any more words to recompensed what she did. It was certain that she didn't know how she did it, but one thing is sure it is not the first time, it will happen again and she will have to resist. She won't bear it if something happen to him, at least not because of her. "I'm sorry. I didn't…I don't know how this happened." She stammered.

"Amy, it's really ok." He reassured her, but he knew that it wasn't working. She was really scared and probably pondering of terrible things that could have happened. "Amy," before he could say more, she just slipped his hands off hers.

"I think there's no use to cry over spilt milk. We need to find the solution as soon as possible. And get that Ngami stone out from my body." She added. She could see that her escapist excuse was not doing anything. She just blinked at their confused face and proceeds towards the door.

"She is right. Let's do what's more crucial at the moment." Simon agreed. He nodded to the latter. Don't worry I'll talk to her.
