Standing in front of the door to April's apartment, Sandro paused for a moment, the Starbucks bag in one hand. He could hear muffled voices on the other side of the door—April and Nicole, probably talking in low whispers as they waited for him. He took one final deep breath before raising his hand and knocking firmly on the door. There was a moment of rustling from inside before the door opened, revealing both April and Nicole, standing side by side.

"Hey, Sandro!" April greeted him with her usual warmth, her eyes lighting up when she saw him standing there.

Nicole smiled as well, though there was something more tentative in her expression. "Morning," she said softly, stepping aside to let him in.

"Morning, you two," Sandro said, returning their smiles. "I brought some coffee and pastries. Thought we might need something to kickstart the conversation."

April's grin widened as she took the Starbucks bag from him. "You always know how to make an entrance, don't you?"

Sandro chuckled as he stepped inside, slipping off his jacket and hanging it on a nearby hook. The apartment was cozy and well-decorated, with soft lighting and plants scattered around, giving it a lived-in yet stylish feel. It was unmistakably April's place as it's warm, welcoming, but with a sense of sophistication that she carried with her wherever she went.

The three of them moved to the living room, where they settled down on the couch and armchairs. April placed the coffee and pastries on the coffee table, and after a few moments of small talk—catching up about work and what they had been up to recently—an inevitable shift in the energy of the room occurred. The casual chatter faded, and an unspoken tension began to fill the space as the real reason for the meeting loomed larger in their minds.

April cleared her throat, her hands nervously wrapped around her coffee cup. "So, Sandro," she began, glancing at Nicole briefly before continuing. "We've been thinking a lot about... well, about us. The three of us. And, of course, Brianna."

Sandro nodded slowly, not saying anything yet, just letting them speak. He could feel the weight of what was coming.

Nicole leaned forward slightly, her expression more serious than usual. "We know that things have been... complicated lately. Especially with Brianna. And we wanted to talk to you about where we all stand."

April took a deep breath, clearly trying to find the right words. "You've probably noticed that Nicole and I have been... considering the possibility of expanding our relationship. We've talked about polyamory, and how it might work for all of us. But Brianna—" She hesitated, then sighed. "Brianna's not on board with the idea. At all. She's really uncomfortable with it."

Sandro listened carefully, already knowing most of this from overhearing Brianna's frustration in the locker room. But hearing April and Nicole lay it out like this made the situation feel more immediate, more real.

Nicole continued, her voice gentle but firm. "We care about Brianna, and we don't want to push her into anything she's not comfortable with. But at the same time, we care about you too, Sandro. And we've been trying to figure out if there's a way to make this work—for all of us."

Sandro finally spoke, his voice measured. "I've been thinking about this too. I know how complicated things have become. And I've noticed that Brianna's been having a hard time with the idea. I haven't talked to her about it since accidentally meeting her when I overheard you guys at the locker room, but it's clear she's struggling."

April's eyes softened, and she nodded in agreement. "Yeah, she is. And we don't want to lose her. But we also don't want to pretend that we're not feeling something for you, Sandro."

Nicole chimed in. "We're not asking for answers right now. We just wanted to be open and honest with you about where we're at. We thought it would be better to talk about this together, instead of letting things fester."

Sandro appreciated their honesty, and for a moment, the room fell into a thoughtful silence. He looked between the two women, searching for the right words. "I care about all of you," he said finally. "And I don't want to make things more complicated than they already are. I understand where Brianna's coming from, and I don't want to push her into anything either."

April leaned back against the couch, her shoulders relaxing a bit. "I think we all want the same thing—we want to find a way to make this work without hurting anyone."

Sandro nodded, though he knew the situation was far from simple. Relationships involving more than two people were never easy, especially when not everyone was on the same page.

But at the same time, he couldn't deny that there was a connection between him, April, and Nicole. It was a delicate balance, one that would require care and communication if they were going to figure it out.

"I think," Sandro began, choosing his words carefully, "that we need to talk to Brianna. Not in a way that pressures her, but in a way that helps her feel heard. Maybe she's feeling left out or overwhelmed, and we need to make sure she knows she's valued."

April nodded slowly. "You're right. We haven't had a real conversation with her about how she's feeling since my argument with her and her strong refusal. We've been kind of avoiding it, honestly."

Nicole agreed. "We should talk to her. All of us, together and figure out a way forward."

Sandro took a sip of his coffee, the warmth of it grounding him. "I think that's the best way forward. We need to be honest with each other, and if it turns out that this isn't something we can all handle, then we'll deal with that. But we have to at least try to communicate."

The three of them sat in silence for a moment, the weight of the conversation settling over them. But it was a good silence—one filled with understanding and the knowledge that they were all committed to figuring this out, whatever the outcome might be.

April finally broke the silence with a small smile. "Thanks for being open with us, Sandro. We really appreciate it."

Sandro returned her smile, feeling a bit lighter. "We're all in this together. We'll figure it out."

After Sandro's words fell, the room descended into a pensive silence. Each of them sat, absorbed in their thoughts, reflecting on the weight of the conversation. Sandro, for his part, felt a mixture of relief and warmth. The confirmation that not only April, but also Nicole and Brianna, had feelings for him stirred something deep inside.

There was a sense of validation that soothed him, knowing that these complex dynamics were built on mutual care and affection. However, he couldn't shake the thought of Brianna, and the possibility that she might not want to be part of this relationship.

Her discomfort with the idea of polyamory had been clear, and he knew that if push came to shove, they might have to move forward without her, something that felt heavy and bittersweet.

April and Nicole, meanwhile, were both quietly processing their own feelings. They were happy, even excited, that Sandro had responded positively to their suggestion of a polyamorous relationship. His willingness to be open and thoughtful about it reassured them that this wasn't just a passing fancy or a wild idea—it was something that could work.

But alongside that optimism was the unavoidable question of Brianna. Both women knew that her feelings about the relationship were critical. Brianna wasn't just a close friend; she was an important part of their emotional lives, and the tension between her and April had been hard on everyone.

Her reluctance to accept this new dynamic cast a shadow over the possibilities, making it clear that any future they imagined with Sandro had to be carefully navigated with Brianna's needs and boundaries in mind.

The silence stretched on, comfortable but reflective, each of them lost in their own considerations. Sandro was the first to break the stillness, sensing the need to lighten the mood after such an intense discussion.

"So," he began with a playful smirk, "do you think they're ever going to stop putting pumpkin spice in everything?" His tone was teasing, and both April and Nicole looked up, caught off guard by the shift in topic.

Nicole snorted in laughter, shaking her head. "Not a chance. Pumpkin spice is basically a religion now."

April smiled, grateful for the change of pace. "It's fall. It's tradition at this point." She picked up a croissant from the Starbucks bag and took a bite, her shoulders visibly relaxing as the conversation turned lighter.

Sandro chuckled. "Well, if it's a religion, then I guess I'm a pumpkin spice atheist."

That comment earned more laughs from the women, and for a moment, the heavy air of the room lifted. The three of them chatted about small, inconsequential things for a while, exchanging stories about work and reminiscing about random moments in their shared history.

The tension from earlier was still there, lingering in the background, but it felt manageable now, not as overwhelming. They all knew the conversation with Brianna still loomed ahead, but for now, it was nice to just enjoy each other's company.

Eventually, though, the lighthearted banter gave way to goodbyes. Sandro stood, sensing that it was time to let April and Nicole continue their day. He gathered his jacket from the hook by the door, slipping it on while thanking them for the coffee and conversation.

"Thanks for this," he said sincerely, looking at both of them. "It means a lot that you were open with me about everything."

April nodded, her smile soft. "We're just glad you're open to talking it through with us. We'll figure it out together."

Nicole echoed the sentiment, stepping forward as they walked him to the door. "We'll talk to Brianna soon, set up a meeting with all of us, okay?"

Sandro nodded, feeling a sense of anticipation about that upcoming conversation. "Yeah, we'll do that. We'll figure it out."

As he reached the door, something unexpected happened. April leaned in first, giving Sandro a light kiss on the cheek. Nicole followed, doing the same, and for a moment, the casual gesture felt loaded with meaning. The warmth of their closeness, the affection they had for him, was clear. But the unexpectedness of it left him slightly stunned.

"Bye, Sandro," April said with a smile that was both shy and confident, as though she knew exactly what she was doing and was testing the waters.

Nicole, a bit more bashful, gave him a small wave. "See you soon."

"Yeah," Sandro managed to say, still processing the unexpected kisses. "See you."

The door closed softly behind him, and for a moment, he stood there in the hallway, blinking in mild disbelief. His heart beat a little faster than usual, and the sense of how real things were becoming hit him all over again. There was no turning back now; whatever was happening between them was no longer hypothetical. It was moving forward, and fast.

Inside the apartment, April and Nicole leaned against the door, exchanging knowing looks.

"Well," April said with a grin, "that was... interesting."

Nicole laughed softly, her cheeks slightly flushed. "I don't know why I did that," she admitted, rubbing the back of her neck. "It just felt... right."

April smiled. "It was. We're making progress. Now, we just have to figure out the next step with Brianna."

Nicole's expression grew more serious. "Yeah. We need to talk to her soon. She's been distant ever since that argument, and I don't want things to get worse."

April nodded in agreement. "We'll have to approach it carefully. I think she's feeling left out, like we're moving forward without her. We need to make her feel heard, make sure she knows we care about her just as much as we care about Sandro."

Nicole sighed, her worry evident. "What if she doesn't want this at all? What if she decides she can't handle it?"

April's gaze softened. "Then we'll have to respect her choice. But we won't know for sure until we talk to her."

Nicole nodded, though the uncertainty still weighed heavily on her. "I just hope she doesn't feel like we're choosing Sandro over her. That's the last thing we want."

"We'll have to be careful about how we approach it," April said thoughtfully. "We need to make it clear that this isn't about choosing one person over the other. It's about figuring out a way for all of us to be happy, together or separately."

Nicole's expression brightened a little at that. "Yeah. We'll make sure she knows that."

As they stood there, the reality of what they were about to face with Brianna settled between them. It was going to be a delicate conversation, and there were no guarantees about how it would go. But for now, they felt a sense of unity. They were in this together, and whatever happened, they would face it side by side.

Outside, Sandro drove away from the apartment, his mind still buzzing with everything that had happened. The day had been more than just a conversation—it had been a turning point. He knew that when they eventually sat down with Brianna, everything would come to a head. The outcome was uncertain, but for the first time in a long while, Sandro felt like they were moving in the right direction.
