Freezing ice

Lyra felt her heart clench the more she listened and as soon as he finished talking, She leaned and hugged him while rubbing his back soothingly. 

"I'm sorry" Only these words came out of her mouth after a long time. She was not sure what she meant by it. Was she sorry for the life he had led? Or was she apologizing for his childhood self who had to pay for his parents' wrongdoings? 

She also tried putting herself in Demir's mother's place. What would she have done if she had to stay in a relationship because of a child? Lyra was no saint. She had to admit that, she would feel sad and bitter in that kind of situation. But hurting a child who did nothing wrong? She would never do that. Maybe, she would have taken the child and run away from such a man.
