Beast Driven System

The modern age of human society had undergone an evolution that changed it forever. Mana had arrived on Earth, and with it, came a meteor shower that threatened to reduce humanity to nothing but rubble and debris. Earth's governments were thrown into chaos because of this, and many military units were deployed to protect the masses from what they could only assume to be the end of the world. Using the most advanced arsenal possessed by the various world military governments, the adverse effects of the meteor shower had been controlled to an incredible degree, protecting most of Earth's inhabitants from utter annihilation. There were countries that were destroyed, leaderships and citizens wiped from the face of the Earth. Reconstruction had to be done to bring the demolished landscapes back to their former glory. It seemed like everything had gone back to normal, however, that was far from the case. Months after the meteor shower incident, world renouned scientists dedicated their time to studying these strange crystalline meteorites. Years later, and something ground breaking had been discovered-abilities. These meteorites, they weren't actually meteorites, but crystals. Where they had come from was unknown and still being researched up till today. From the crystals came abilities that changed humanity forever. Those who could afford the crystals were fortuate enough to obtain strange powers from within. Fire, boulder, serpent, and many others. Many more years passed by, and more and more was being discovered about abilities and the crystals they came from. Everything seemed to be heading up after the phenomenon that nearly destroyed the Earth, but not everything was for the benefit of everyone. For many years, most were oblivious to the presence of abilities on Earth. It wasn't until an alien invasion occoured, that the information on abilities was made public. Strong ability users were needed to defend Earth against the Shales. The government, private and public corporations, and many others, they were all monetizing whatever crystals they could get their hands on, using it as a means of earning revenye from the populace. Those who were rich enough to purchase ability crystals could become ability users, while those who couldn't would simply remain as regular humans. Many rich families in the new world were able to obtain strong abilities for themselves and their children; the ones who would continue their lineage and glory once their parents are no more. In order to learn how to defend humanity from the invasion of the aliens, people from the ages of 16 were ordered to attend a military academy by the decree of the federal government of their respective countries. Failure to abide by this law was punishable by jail time. Kayden, a sixteen-year-old from a city known as Black Saber city. Having lost his parents at a very yoing age, he had to live with his single uncle and his cousin. Like many other teenagers his age, he desired to attend military school to learn how to fight against the Shales. However, being unable to afford an ability, his dreams of becoming powerful seemed like they would be crushed, but that all changed the day he had been given a system that allows him to unlock monsters by completing quests. On his path to evolve, he must face multiple challenges, complete quests and go on missions just to grow in strength. For in the current world, only the strong are regarded, while the weak are cast aside and forgotten. That was the general rule, the rule that governed everything that happened. A Vision

Hikari was ready to improve his abilities even further. As an ancient spirit, even before his death years ago, he was a powerful entity with power that rivalled the strongest people on Earth. However, now, combined with the ability of this teenage boy, he figured out how to use the boy's power as well, in ways that Marcus had never even thought of.

"Come at me, old man!" He yelled, rushing forward with his hands covered in the strange once again. Upon getting closer, he swing his fist out, hoping to hit his target, however, the mayor was able to move out of the way, dodging the attack as he quickly went to deliver a strike of his own.

Activating his gravity power, he was able to put Hikari in a direct situation once again. However, after unleashing more of his power, he was able to break free, before channelling a different power with his right hand. While his left hand was still covered by the blue mist, his right hand was covered in a dark red aura that seemed to pulsate continuously.

"Explode!" The moment his fist managed to connect with the man's face, it exploded with power, forcing the mayor to fly back from the shock. Not stopping there, Hikari rushed forward, swinging his hand against the man's abdomen, missing by just a few inches as he managed to roll out of the way, causing Hikari to hit nothing else but the road.

"Get lost!" The mayor yelled, grabbing Hikari from behind, applying a head-lock technique to try and confuse and ocerpoyhis opponent. However, Hikari just swing his hand back, using his elbow to strike the mayor on his ribs with so much force that he was forced to loosen his grip, and with that, he kneed the man's face, causing it to swing back as blood spewed from his mouth.

"Come on, you really didn't come all the way here just to get killed now, didn't you? Show me that you are actually worth my time," he said, kicking the man on his ribs once again.

Back at the academy, it seemed as though things had gone back to normal. Classes were set to quickly resume after the incident, and all, well, most of the teachers were back on duty. Once the higher-ups had been informed of the incident, a couple men had been deployed to locate and deal with the threat.

Meanwhile, Kayden stood in his room, pacing back and forth as a number of thoughts ran through his mind.

'Shawn is still in the infermary after the incident regarding Kayla, and also, where is she? Where did Shawn teleport her to? Honestly, I'm surprised that the teachers haven't started searching for her as well. At this point, she might be somewhere dangerous and might have to fight her way free.

'Or worst case scenario, she might be on some other planet.'

Wherever she maybe, Kayden knew that somehow, he had to make sure that he doesn't somehow get in trouble for the incidents currently happening at the academy.

'With the way things are going, I just hope that another incident doesn't happened with those damned second years. Man, it's like they just hate our guts or something,' with that thought in mind, he was really to call it a night as he took a quick shower and went to sleep.

During the day, he tried his best to not think too much about what was happening. During the abilities class, he and Dan we're sparring using their abilities, and while Kayden was having the upper hand, a sudden image of his family dead had caused him to slip up, messing up his movements, giving Dan the opportunity to beat him at their battle.

Even while he slept, he dreamt of a large, vast wasteland riddled with dead bodies. He was the only one left standing, left alive. Also, standing not too far away, there was a monster, one as large and ferocious, unlike anything he had ever seen before. It was covered from head to toe in dark black fur, and from its mouth, came a loud noise that caused the very ground to shake.

"Awoooo!" Almost immediately, he woke up, sweat dripping down his face as his heart beaten rapidly, as he struggled to get a hpld of his breathing. His hpry couldn't stop shaking as the image of the creature continued to intrude on his imagination, making it near impossible for him to fall asleep for the rest of the night.

The next day, having not gotten enough sleep the night before, Kayden was finding it hard to function the way he normally would. Looking towards the other beds, he could see that Paul had just woken up as well. The two glanced at each other for a while before both getting off their beds and started getting ready for the day.

"Hey, man. You don't look so good. Didn't you get enough sleep last night?" Paul had noticed the bags under the latter's eyes, as well as his sluggish demeanor this time around. He began to wonder whether this had something to do with that first year student wanting to take over the entire academy.

'As a matter of fact, how was a first year even able to brainwash the teachers as well into believing a lie? Aren't they supposed to be these powerful people that are meant to help us get stronger? Does this mean that a first year had surpassed even the teachers? But how on Earth is that possible when even the second years fear these very same instructors?'

"Didn't really get much sleep last night. I pretty much spent the whole night away 'cause I couldn't sleep. Man, I'm not even sure if I can see clearly at this point," Kayden rubbed his eyes with his hand, trying to wipe away whatever tiredness they still held.

"Try washing your face or something?" Paul said, before getting into the shower.

Meanwhile, Kayden walked towards one of the sinks in the bathroom and turned on the tap. Looking at his reflection in the mirror, there was a large scowl in his face as an image of the monster had appeared once again, causing him to flinch and slip, hitting his head on the floor.

"You okay over there?" Paul asked.

"Yeah… just tripped and fell," getting off the floor, Kayden quickly doused some water on his face, before getting back out and getting ready to take a shower as well.

'When are these visions going to end?' he asked himself as he and Paul made their way towards their classroom. Walking past the hallway, he could hear a couple of students talking, however, what caught his attention was when he heard Kayla's name being mentioned quite a number of times.

"Hey, has anyone seen Kayla lately? I haven't seen her for over a day now."

"What's this? You still have a crush on her?"

"Shut up! Aren't you also worried about her?!"

"I'm worried about my rank getting taken away from me."

"Oh yeah, because you're a weak student with a weak rank and you would do whatever it takes to not become any weaker."

Hearing that remark, a fight quickly broke out between both of the students. Meanwhile, Kayden and Paul had made it to class.

The day had gone by as expected, and at the end of it all, Kayden had headed to the infermary to check up on Shawn. To his surprise, upon his arrival, he could see that the teenager had regained consiousness, and was ready to be discharged and head back to the dormatory.

As the two walked through the hallway, Kayden wanted to ask him about what had happened during their fight with Kayla. Why he had decided to help him out, and how he had been able to use his power to such an extent in getting rid of her. However, after observing his demeanor, he thought that now wouldn't be the best time to ask such questions.

"I'm glad to see that you've– Aaahhh!" Just as he was about to finish his sentence, he felt a sharp pain flash through his head, causing him to scream out in pain and fall to his knees. This hadn't gone unnoticed, as the students who were walking through the hallway had quickly stopped whatever they were doing to see Kayden holding his head tight, his eyes closed as he screamed out from the pain.

"Kayden! What's going on?!" Shawn shouted, kneeling down as he picked up his roommate, before rushing over to the infermary.

Many of the students were wondering what had happened, as no one saw Shawn attacking Kayden. However, seeing the way the former reacted as soon as Kayden collapsed, made them wonder what exactly was happening to the student.

As well, standing right in front of the academy, was a blue-scaled creature with razor-sharp teeth and a blue aura covering its hands.
