Finding the missing students.

Chapter 2. Mystery.

P2: Finding the missing students.

Vallerie Tepes and I waited until night fell due to the new rule set by her, there would be no students walking around during the night.

"My Lord, are you certain it is best to wait? I am worried that by waiting we are wasting time," She said in a worried manner.

I understood her concern but if we investigated while students still walked around the academy it would spread around quickly reaching the ears of the one responsible.

"No need to worry. I didn't sense anyone dying, the students are safe for now," I told her.

Valerie remained silent just hoping for the best.

Night fell and it was past curfew the students were inside their dorm rooms and the academy halls became a ghost town.

"Let's begin," I told her.

We got up from our seats and left her office.

We walked around the empty academy halls, it was so quiet that we could hear ourselves breathing.

I sensed something strange coming from one of the corridors.

"I sense something strange here," I told her, turning left to enter a smaller corridor.

We walked down that strange corridor facing a brick wall at the end of it.

"There is something strange behind this wall," I told her.

Vallerie focused her magic eyes on the wall staring at it intensely.

"I can't see anything unordinary," She said in confusion.

Whoever built this wall was not dumb, to say the least.

"I figured as much. The wall was infused with irimian steel, giving it magic nullifying properties which make it impossible to see through it or sense magic coming from behind it," I explained to her.

Fortunately for us, this did not nullify my magic in the slightest.

I looked behind the wall to see…"Behind the wall are magic detectors that would sense anyone with magic alerting the mysterious kidnapper," I told her.

"How would we get in undetected?" She asked.

Even using stealth magic would do no good since it only hides someone's appearance.

"I'll get us in by using the empty state," I told her.

The empty state was a state that I could be in whenever I needed to.

The empty state allows me to turn myself into emptiness, not just nothing but being completely empty, being non-existent.

Normally this would erase anyone bound to existence since this state would turn the individual into non-existence.

Only beings who are neither bound to existence nor non-existence could switch freely between those states.

"Let's go," I used the empty state on myself and Vallerie.

Vallerie was safe from the erasure effect due to me protecting her with a powerful magic protection spell.

We became empty, no one now could even detect our presence in existence.

We walked through the wall since it could not stop something that didn't exist.

It was dark and quiet on the other side.

"Let's keep going," I said.

We walked this dark path not setting off any of the traps set by this mysterious kidnapper.

We walked and walked with no end in sight.

"My Lord, are you sure this is the right path?" She asked.

"I can sense the life force of multiple people not far from here," I answered.

We went faster and faster and we eventually saw a faint light in the distance.

The light grew bigger as we approached it.

We entered the light…

Past the light was a large open space with unconscious students bound by magic circles hanging on the walls.

*GASP* Vallerie was in shock seeing the students in such states.

"What on earth is this place?" She asked in shock.

Seeing the students like this made me want to punish the one responsible even more.

"They're alive, although the magic that binds them is something I haven't seen before," I said.

We found the missing students but not the ones responsible for this.

We didn't need to wait long for the answer as the person entered the room through another secret passage.

"I can't believe it. It's him," Vallerie said in disbelief.

We were shocked to see that it was none other than Professor Edmar.

"It looks like the students are ready," He said with a sinister smile.

The magic circles that bound the students to the walls began to lighten up and a giant magic circle appeared on the ground with Edmar standing in the middle of it.

The magic circles on the wall shot magic emitted from the chests of the students toward Edmar.

"Haha! Generations of my family have researched how to achieve immortality! Now 1000 years later I have reached the answer!" Edmar yelled with his arms in the air.

"With the essence of students I can extend my lifespan for thousands of years," He said with a disgusting smile.

"Hate to break it to you but you're not extracting the essence of these students but rather their souls," I told him emerging from behind.

Edmar faced us both and was in shock.

"How did you find this place?" He asked with his eyes wide open.

"You are the one who needs to explain himself!" Vallerie yelled in frustration.

"How could you harm your students?" I asked in disappointment.

"They are nothing but fuel for me to extend my life," He replied with no regret for his actions.

"You should be ashamed of yourself. Kidnapping your own students to end their lives just to extend your own," I said with my entire body glowing orange.

Vallerie and Edmar looked at me in confusion.

"What are you doing?" He asked.

Vallerie looked even more astounded than Edmar.

"I have heard about this only in books and rumours, the aura of nullification. The ability to cast an aura so powerful that it can nullify any ability and magic the caster chooses to. The difficulty of learning this ability made it impossible for anyone to learn it, hence it was deemed nothing but a rumour," Vallerie said in astonishment.

In an instant, all the magic circles were destroyed.

I caught the students in magic bubbles lowering them safely on the ground.

"No…NOOOO!" Edmar yelled in frustration and disbelief.

"How could someone have this ability? Only the King was to be thought to have this ability!" Edmar couldn't believe what he saw.

"Do you understand it now?" Vallerie said with a smirk.

Edmar was shaking violently, pulling on his hair with his eyes wide open.

"Before you stands the true Vampire King, Cassius Xeonos," Vallerie said with confidence.

"You mean…The bastard Malicious King who claimed the lives of many only stopped by King Dracula?!" He yelled in anger.

Vallerie smirks even more.

"That's nothing but a false rumour, he is the one and only Vampire King," She replied.

I had enough of seeing Edmar and what he did.

I raised my arm and cast the same spell that bounded the students.

"What is this? How can you cast Amonel? It's never been shown in the past other than my family," He said with a struggle to break free.

It didn't matter that I had never seen this magic before. I can use any magic just by a quick glance.

"Let me show you what you actually wanted," I told him.

Edmar became weaker and weaker.

"What are you doing to me?" Edmar said with a quiet tone.

"I perfected your spell, your spell only affected the soul but the essence is much much much deeper than a mere soul,"

Edmar became weaker as his essence began to fade away.

I stopped casting the spell and reconstructed his partly damaged essence.

"It would be too easy of a way out if I left it like that," I told him approaching him.

Edmar, who lay weakend on the ground, looked at me.

"You wanted immortality, let me grant you your wish," I placed an Elixis magic circle on his body.

On top of the death spell Nicrom.

"What-" Edmar died.

A second later he was brought back to life because of Elixis.

"What just-" He died again.

A second later he was brought back again.

"You wanted to escape death by claiming the life of others. Now you will die thousands of times. Perhaps you can see your cruelty in your deeds," I constructed a cage around him with the construction spell generes.

"NOOO!" He yelled.

I cast the spell luniun which teleported us away from this and out to the corridors of the academy.

With the students still unconscious I and Vallerie were relieved to see them students safe and sound.

"Thank you from the bottom of my heart," Vallerie bowed her head in gratitude.

"I'm glad we were able to save them in time," I replied with relief.

"My Lord, I can take it from here, feel free to return to your room," She said.

I took her up on the offer and left her and the other professors to deal with the aftermath.

"Good night," I told Vallerie.

Back in my room.

I wondered what would happen to our class now that Edmar has gone.
