chapter 1 Vaatu

Me and my brother kotuk where native to the Southern water tribe we lived in a remote village we were both waterbenders in fact the only in our village.

My brother was 14 and I was 13 and it was our task to get food, you see a couple of years ago I don't remember the exact number but all able bodied men and women fell ill and died only the old and young were spared we don't know why even the healers didn't know why but then they soon died from this strange illness.

Me and kotuk were doing some hunting because we were low on food, even though my brother was older I was the better water bender I could form ice and he couldn't I could tell he was jealous but we still were brothers and many could say we were inseparable.

We always went to places together but that was our mistake. As we were hunting and sneaking up on a defenseless seal, a polar dog snuck up on us.

The vicous dog pounced on my brother ripping him open his guts spilled onto the icy ground and the seals yelped while diving into the water, I formed icicles from the snow and impaled then the monstrous beast whined and tried to pounce but succumbed to its wounds and so did my brother.

It fell onto me and it's claws dug into my chest the adrenaline numbed the pain and I started crawling and crying I had lost the entirety of my Remaining family the one I held most dear.

I almost gave up when I remembered his voice and the moments we shared it motivated me to crawl then walk I tried to heal my wounds and it only numbed the pain it did no healing.

Eventually I saw a tree but not a normal tree it was glowing and what would a tree be doing here in the middle of nowhere.

I stumbled to the tree and saw something that looked like a black and red ribbon. I touched the tree and a clear barrier blocked my hand then the ribbon started moving like it was dancing in the wind then a deep voice spoke "mortal you have awaken me from my slumber in this prison I was falsely put in, you know I can heal you if you just let me out all you need to do is come in here"

It was like the voice of a demon but for some reason I believed him and what did I have to lose. He started to instruct me on how to get in there with him and his instructions worked I was in the cramped wooden cell with him.

He went into my mouth and used me to get out of the prison it felt like I was set on fire this demon has tricked me but then I heard a voice in my head 'how mortal, how did you overcome me and Dominate me it was supposed to be the other way around how, well there's no way to get out of you so we are stuck together'

'What is going on what is happening, wait are my wounds healed and why do I feel more fit and am I taller also my hair wasn't long and black it was short and brown' I thought with mass confusion then this demon interrupted 'I am Vaatu the spirt of chaos and disorder I am no demon, we must work together we are stuck together nothing can separate us from one each other, using my power you are now the dark avatar and we must kill the light avatar, now of course you control what we do I'm just a voice in your head but please listen to me and help me torture that bitch'

I wanted to kill the avatar which I could sense it felt like my polar opposite it was attracted me I felt like I was being pulled. I started walking in that direction and after I can only assume to be atleast 5 hours I saw home.

-13 days later-

I found the ocean a vast expansion of salty water, only ice and water in sight. I jumped onto the water and started surfing on the blue glade of water.

I eventually got tired and made an ice platform I covered around 9 miles of water before I got tired haven't been able to see my homeland for around 3 hours so it might actually be more than 9 miles that was just my assumption.

-our protagonist actually crossed 20 miles of land he was around 100 miles from republic city-

I sat on the ice platform and made my self a bed to sleep on and a bowl of water to drink from and when I saw my reflection it was not that of a 13 year old kid but that of a 20 year old with a chisled face

It doesn't matter now my goal is to kill the avatar actually its to torture the avatar.

I laid down in my shitty ice bed and fell asleep as the crimson sun reflected on my bed.

I closed my eyes and fell asleep and I had a dream I saw the avatar of light her name was korra we were in a dream scape.

Korra said to me as if expecting me to know "where am I what is this place" and I responded "avatar korra I don't know but what I do know is that you need to watch your back the world may be in a peaceful state currently but soon my wrath will fall upon it" she looked stunned and replied "I'd like to see you try I'm the avatar and you will eventually fall not us"

The other avatar, korra seemed to not sense that I was also an avatar master of all 4 elements and I was stronger then the light avatars or vaatu was lying to me again which why would he, he's trapped and there's no way out for him he also said that we will be stuck together forever my consciousness will also transfer when I die so I'm semi-immortal

The dream scape ceased to exist and I was back on my icy bed and I wondered what was the other avatar doing.

-korra pov-

I woke up from my dream or was it I don't know but what I heard shocked me I couldn't see the true form of this person I saw they were like a ghost they were faded I could not see there true form.

It was Erie so I alarmed tenzin as soon as possible I got up and ran to tenzin I was still in my pajamas.
