Chapter 48

Jane, Edward and Hannah half carried and half dragged Anthony through the door to the kitchen. They didn't want him regaining consciousness and seeing the bloodbath in the lounge. He was breathing normally and his pulse was steady so they would wait to see what happened.

Hannah had a chance to study the son she had not seen for nearly sixteen years. Touching his face and then holding his hand, she cried. Her tears were for the years that they had been apart and for the sacrifice that his father had made. Was she imagining it or was Anthony's hair a bit lighter than when he had first come in?

He was curled on his side on the floor. Jane had ventured back into the lounge to assess the damage that had been caused. Blood was dripped on every surface and furniture had been smashed. The bodies were mutilated horribly. There were gashes on each of them as well as the fatal wounds.
