"You are really here…" Ryu said and she just smiled and said yes.
A few minutes later, he calmed down and composed himself, he smiled and asked her what she wanted to eat.
"What's your favorite?" Nora asked.
"Hmm, the fourth combo, with the chicken wrap and extra pieces of chicken." Ryu said, his mouth already watering from imagining the meal.
"Okay, give me three of those, when do you take your break?" Nora asked as she handed him her credit card.
"In seven minutes, I will bring you your food." Ryu replied with a smile.
"Okay and come sit with me." She said and left before he could decline.
She found a place in the corner, where they could enjoy their food in peace and quiet, sat down and pulled out her phone, to call the lawyer.
*This conversation is in a foreign language*
"Hello." The person who answered said.
"Is everything ready?" Nora got straight to the point.
"Yes, I got all the documents needed, you just have to bring me the photos and we can go ahead with the case." He confirmed with her and she breathed a sigh of relief.
"What about what I asked about?" Nora asked nervously.
"He will be under my name, I discussed it with my wife and she is more than happy to register him as our son." He said with a faint smile.
"Thank you so much." Nora brightened up again.
"It's nothing, it's not like we will pay for anything." He added, hinting that what she was doing was much more than he could ever do.
"But it's still a huge thing, thank you again, I will send you the pictures by tomorrow." Nora said and started thanking him again.
"Okay." He said and hang up.
"Your food is here." Ryu said as he sat down across from her. She hang up the phone and smiled.
"Thank you." She took a couple of fries before remembering that she had to wash her hands, she asked for the bathroom's location and quickly left to wash her hands and come back.
As she say back down, she noticed how fidgety Ryu was being and didn't know what to do, other than eat and tell him to dig in with her because she wasn't going to finish all of that alone.
"How have you been doing? Has your dad calmed down a bit?" Nora asked, after about 15 minutes of silence.
"Not really but luckily he has been avoiding hitting my face ever since the new neighbor asked him about it." Ryu said with a huge smile, happy that other people are finally paying attention to him and giving him the time of day.
But for Nora, that wasn't that much, because even if he didn't hit his face, he still hit him and injured a minor while being his parent.
"I…I want to help you so please listen to the end, I hired a lawyer, I got his contact info a few days ago before I landed here and told him about your situation, and if you don't mind, we will go to court to take custody over you from your father and put you under a new name and I will take care of all of your expenses, if you want to return the money to me later in life you are welcome to, if you don't want to, that's fine because it's my decision to take you out of that situation, I made it my responsibility because I am selfish." Nora blurted all of that out and waited for Ryu response.
One minute later: nothing
Two minutes later: nothing
Five minutes later: muffled cries and unknown noises.
Ryu was happy, angry, ashamed and relieved all at the same time, happy that she was willing to help, angry that he had to seek help from a stranger in a completely different country, ashamed that if he does take her offer he will have to take her money for at least two years and relieved that he doesn't have to worry about his next meal.
"I need time to think about it." Ryu responded after a few minutes of silence.
"Of course, I know it's out of nowhere, take your time, I am here for two months." Nora said with a smile and continued eating.
Ryu had to leave to continue his shift, she waited for him until he was done, to go around the places around there and then take him home.
They spent a few hours together until Ryu's curfew was just around the corner and they have to go their separate way, they bid goodbye to each other and Nora watched as Ryu got inside the house.
She started walking and looking up what bus she had to take, she barely made it before the bus departed and sat down, she played with her phone until she remembered the guy from the morning and decided to send him a message, not wanting to be rude to her new neighbor and possible future neighbor of Ryu if he decided to go along with what she told him.
After sending the message, she closed her eyes, as her stop was the terminus. With her hand clutched in her hand and hid by her jacket, she started dreaming of Ryu living a good life, running around playing football with his classmates, finding a partner in college, getting a high paying job and having a fulfilling life.
Half an hour later, she jolted herself awake, looking at her phone then at the road, then inside the bus at the banner that said they were a minute away from the terminus, she got up and checked her phone for the time, only to notice that she got a message from that guy.
Shin: How about 10 pm at the restaurant right across the street?
She looked at the time, seeing that it was 8:45pm, enough time for her to get in a shower and get ready.
Nora: Sure, I will be at the front door at 10pm.
Shin: We will meet then.
Exactly at 9:59pm, Nora was at the front door waiting for Shin, he was in a few seconds which didn't give her enough time to prepare her poor heart that was the victim of overly excited Raynora and her irrational decisions, but she can deal with that later, she has to be nice and smile at the dude.
"I didn't think you were serious." Shin said as he saw her standing there, looking pretty, waiting him which did something to his heart, he always helped people but it was rarely that anyone did anything for him in return so it was weird that she offered to pay for a meal for him.
