Chapter 2

It's been fifteen minutes. And they haven't come back. I didn't notice that the lights inside were shut off. So I got out of the SUV and went to the door, before entering I stopped. And had a stupid thought. Weren't my senses heightened now? I couldn't sense a thing. It was silent; almost too silent. Like usually there's background noises, but there was just silence.

So I opened the door, and paused as I realized what was going on. I silently stepped into the store and waited silently as I watched the scene play out in front of me.

There were three males. Elias was the only one I knew; the other two were a mystery to me. But from what I could tell, this was this two against one fight. And unfortunately Elias was loosing.I slowly inched my way towards them. But I couldn't see Aviva anywhere.I decided to quit being a bystander and do something.

"Hey, leave him alone and pick on someone your own size!" I said.

"You mean yourself?"

"Stay out of this Lexia, leave it to me." Elias says

Hah, leave it to him! Look at him. He's done for if he goes for round two. I took a deep breath, and prepared myself for what I would do next.

"Shut up !" One guy says to Elias.

"Say Jake, what should we do to this lovesick girl?" One says while giving Elias one last shove, he slammed into the store's shelves and groaned.

"Lovesick?!" I growled.

It wasn't even like that! Sure he was attractive, but I just met him. And he was quite cold, and he ignored me. Honestly, I could go on about different reasons on why I'm not lovestruck for Elias. But turns out I was ignored.

"Weakling!" One muttered.

"I said leave him alone!" I yelled.

"Are you gonna be his replacement then?"

They asked together, as they each gave Elias a blow to his ribs and one to where the sun didn't shine. I internally flinched, but didn't let them see. They were too focussed on planning what they were gonna do to me. I'm not going down easy, and definitely not without a fight.

"Stay-y-a-away from h-her. '' Elias gritted out.

"Bring it on boys." I lured them in

"Ooooooooooh, I'm sooooooo scared!" One mocked with sarcasm dripping from his voice.

I threw a punch and took one guy out, but I noticed Elias took a hit for me, so I was quick to defend him. I shoved him behind me and threw a hit directly on the bridge of one one of the boys' noses, blood started trickling down his nose. And he stumbled, then I gave him the same treatment he gave Elias. I kicked him where the sun didn't shine, and he used his hands to shield it. But he was still in pain. The first one suddenly appeared and shoved me, he held Elias by his neck. Elias began to choke; and if I didn't do something quickly he was going to lose consciousness. That is if I don't think of something soo.

"Move, or you'll regret standing against me." I warned them.

"Come get your prince charming, if you dare." One guy threatened

I made my way over to these idiots in two long strides.

"No, stay back or go get help." Elias orders.

"Sorry no, can't do that!" I say.

One guy started punching his own palm; while making his way to me. Once we were close enough his patients ran thin and he threw the first hit, but missed greatly. So he began pacing himself, while I timed his punches. Each punch he threw I blocked. For the beginning, I was only blocking and dodging his attacks. When I did finally switch my tactics, I threw a punch that sent him flying into one of those store refrigerators. Shattering the grass he slumped in on himself. I sent the other guy in the same position only to a different refrigerator. But then something unexpected happened.

Snap, Crack, Pop

So obviously these guys aren't mortal. Well, now what are they? I had no time to try and piece anything together because they both were up and badly injured. I noticed the fur, fangs and sharp claws that moved furiously. Something silver and sharp caught my vision. An axe! I grinned and ran over to pick it up; I quickly swung and cleanly cut one head off its body. The other guy only hesitated for a second before launching himself my way. I dogged and swung, his head was cut cleanly from his body as well. I quickly went to the security cams and smashed them with the axe. I went back over to Elias.

"I take it you don't listen well." He frowned.

"And I take it you don't take no for an answer." I grinned back.

"Touche!" He trailed off with a grin.

I grinned at him, then remembered that Aviva was around here somewhere.

"Wait, where is -" I started.

"I told her to get in the car as soon as they showed up. And that was like two minutes before you came in, she went out the back so you wouldn't have seen her." He says.

I put his arm over my shoulder, wrapping an arm around his waist. I pulled him up and we stumbled out the door. Aviva came and helped me put him in the back seat. Aviva drove, while Elias had his head on my lap.

"I'm fine really, let me u-urgggggg" He groaned in pain.

I pushed his bangs to the side of his face. I need to distract him from the pain, he's most likely broken a few ribs. So I sat here and played with his hair.

"L-Lexia I was wondering i-i-if you'd like to join t-training?" he gasped out.

"Shhhhh" I soothed.

Elias grabbed my hand and held it close to him, I began whispering soothing words to him, playing with his hair and trying to take the pain off his mind. When we made it to the school, I was surprised I could pick up and carry a guy like Elias. So I carried him and Aviva led the way to the infirmary. I got weird looks from all the students we passed. And I assumed it wasn't because I was new, it was because I was a female carrying a big male, not that I'm calling Elias fat. What I mean is this guy is all muscle!

Elias had gone unconscious minutes before our arrival. Jax was filled in by Aviva. And me, well I'm in my room unpacking my stuff. Once done unpacking, I lay in bed about to go to sleep. I don't even know when Aviva came in. Guess I was that tired!

Chapter 3 (Elias's POV): Jax helped me get to our room but all I could think about was Lexia. Jax snapped me out of the fantasies I was having.

"So, wanna tell me what the hell happened?" He finally asked.

"I got my ass kicked, and was saved by a girl,"I told him.

The look on his face when this information was released to him. Priceless!

"And I invited her to train with us." I might as well add.

"YOU WHAT! You know female's aren't allowed to even step foot in the arena—" I cut him off.

"Yeah and maybe you should have been there to see her kick their asses, she looked like a goddess, and how can I say that about someone I just met, heck I've fallen head over heels for this chick. And you know how I get with chicks, it's a 100% pass and avoid them, and now what? I wanna be anywhere except avoiding Lexia. I feel like a love sick puppy. Dude, what's she done to me ?" I asked Jax.

Jax, looking amused, asked the one question I dreaded hearing from his mouth. He asked,

"Did she ever touch you, other than the fact that she carried you in-" I cut him off right there.

"SHE WHAT?" I roared.

"She ummm, she carried your unconscious body to the infirmary by herself.'' He made sure I understood Lexia's strength.

"And now it makes sense as to why you invited her to training." Jax says.

I shook my head in disbelief, I. Am. So. Dead. Tomorrow. Morning! I stripped down to everything but my shorts and crawled into the twin sized bed; and slowly dozed off into a dream land.

I was woken up from a nice dream by a loud high pitch scream, for some reason I knew that scream.

"Lexia!"

I jumped outta bed and threw open the door, next thing I know is I'm flying down the hallway to the girls dorm with Jax in tow. Seems no one else heard her scream. I threw open the dormitory door and sped up the stairs to the girls room, we stopped in front of their door. Jax and I both exchanged worried glances. Finally we decided to go in. Lexia was cornered by a scary looking dog creature, it looked like a black Alpha wolf. Only its eyes were red glowing orbs and its paws burned the floorboards beneath it. This dog seemed to breathe fire and was only interested in her because Aviva was whimpering in another corner. Then Lexia spoke of the creature that I'd never wanted to face.

"Hell hound."She whispered.

How'd she know what it was? Sure I've heard of the legends and myths, but I never thought I'd ever come to see one, Or have to kill one. And the only way to kill a Hell hound is to use salt, an Angels blade, Iron, or a special killing weapon. We have salt but not an Angel's blade. We do have an Iron sword though. One is placed in every room for safety precautions.

"Aviva the clozet sword iron!"

I whispered because of their; strong, smart, intelligent, loyal, and vicious creatures. They can't be tricked and no one can control them but their masters. Yet some things are still unknown to us about their species. Aviva tossed it to me, now I need a way to give it to Lexia.

"Hey you, fire dog." I tried, it turned its attention to me and snarled.

"Catch!" I slid the sword along the floor. The hellhound caught it but immediately flinched back because the iron burned him. He snarled at me then turned his attention back to Lexia. She went to reach for the sword but the hound slashed her across her chest, she screamed out in pain. Well now people will wake up!

Aviva's POV: The Hellhound picked Lexia up by its mouth, and with Lexia's life in the jaws of a Hellhound we didn't dare move. It took off down the hall. What surprised me was Lexia wasn't screaming, instead she acted as if this was a perfectly normal thing that happened often. We followed the hound to the roof, then suddenly Elias's hands in front of me stopped us from moving forward.

"One more step and I kill her."

That voice froze us all in place, that voice made us freeze in horror.

"The dog speaks!?" Jax said dumbfounded.

"Watch your tone, kid."

So it does talk, and pretty good English.

"Look, I don't wanna kill her. She's got a long, good, strong future ahead of her. But us hounds do what we must to survive down there, we all have to obey no questions or second-guessing aloud or we're punished."

If he didn't have my friend, I'd probably ask if we could keep him. The hound's eyes turned Black, and suddenly he chomped down on Lexia's shoulder, leaving only bite marks and not taking a chunk of skin. Then he did something that shocked us all. He licked the wound.

"Orders are orders, I have a strong feeling I will be seeing you all soon."

Then the hound dropped our friend off the roof and disappeared. Elias was the first to move, he ran down the stairs and was at the bottom with his vamp speed. Leaving me and Jax to run after him.

Elias's POV: I made it to the bottom of the stairs, and stood below the falling girl. I was prepared to catch her; when I caught her the first thing I noticed was her shoulder wound was healed. Only the wound across her chest was cut open. Claw marks ran from one shoulder to the other.

I ran her to the infirmary, but by the time I got there she had passed out from the blood loss. I swear if the school wasn't awake now they would be by the smell of her blood. Because she was losing blood rather quickly. I knocked on the infirmary doors, and a tired looking nurse came out rubbing her eyes. But she was wide away by the smell and sight, her eyes weren't red like mine from Lexia's blood. But I controlled myself, I've been around blood lots so why is hers affecting me like this? No scratch that, why is this girl affecting me so much?

"Elias, what happened. What could have done this on campus?" the nurse asked.

"A Hellhound was in her room, me and Jax heard her scream and rushed over to see what was going on. The hound seemed only interested in her because her roommate Aviva was untouched and on the other side of the room." I explained.

" A Hellhound on campus…." A very familiar voice says behind me, I froze.

Then Aviva and Jax show up, Aviva goes straight to the nurse and the unconscious Lexia. Jax talks with me and we talk to the School mistress.

"I still want to know why the hound was on the campus, more so the girls room. Did it give you any information?"

"It talked." Jax says

The schoolmistress raised a brown and cocked her hip out. Crossing her arms over her chest. She gives me a look over, probably expecting me to answer.

"And what were you two doing in the female dormitory?" She asked matter of factly.

"We heard her scream and ran over." Jax says .

The schoolmistress says something to both of us.

"Elias, from now on you are to guard Lexia and protect her, until I say otherwise. And Jax you are to do the same for Aviva." She says.

"Yes, schoolmistress Lisa."

We both say in sync. Obviously, neither of us had a problem with guarding these girls.
