1 Chapter 1

It was a midsummer evening around four o'clock. Nicole and I just left the park on Pine road, located on the south side of Oaktown. When a Black SUV, with tinted black windows began to follow us. The SUV wasn't being very subtle while trailing us. So Nicole and I decided to quicken our pace. Unfortunately this road is always dead silent at any time of day, and it only leads one way. Which meant that we couldn't outrun this car, or even hide from it. This road also leads to a dead end, and that too was unfortunately close.

Suddenly the car stopped and the driver stepped out. Nicole and I would take some not-so-obvious glances behind us as we walked. But this time when Nicole looked back, her face went from worried to surprised. Nicole stops and turns around to face this stranger; she even pulled me with her when she turned around. A small voice in the back of my mind was whispering at me to turn around and disappear into the forest behind me.

"Wait, I know him. He's an old friend!" Nicole says briefly.

Nicole grinned at the intruder, while making her way over to the guy. This guy pulls Nicole into a friendly hug.

"It's nice to see you Nicole! And you must be Lexia?" He asked.

"And you are?" I hadn't meant to sound rude, but I didn't know who this guy was.

"Where are my manners?" He joked.

"Sorry to cut this short. But I assume you're here for a reason?" Nicole says.

Mystery guy nods and gets back into the SUV, and soon Nicole follows. I hesitated thinking how nuts I am to get into a car with a stranger. But after a few encouraging hand gestures from Nicole, I

finally I gave in. I mean, what could possibly go wrong? I mean Nicole knows this guy, and she trusts him enough to get in a car with him. So obviously she has some sort of trust in the guy, right?

This stranger was tall, probably around 5'9. He seemed like the perfect significant other for Nicole. This guy had messy brown hair, and deep blue eyes. Not to mention he seemed very protective of Nicole.

"So Lexia, this is my boyfriend Jax. His best friend Elias is waiting at the school for us." Nicole says.

"Oh and Lexia, I'm sorry about this." I was confused, and Jax could tell. He looked at me with sadness yet a hint of relief.

And that's when I felt the pinch in my wrist. I looked down and noticed a needle poking my skin. Some sort of substance was injected into my system, the gold substance seemed to sparkle as it left the syringe and entered my body. Slowly my vision began to blur in and out of consciousness. Black dots seemed to dot at the edges of my vision and slowly started to block my vision. And that's when I was left in a silent and dark abyss. I was surrounded by it! Nothing but: silence, darkness, coldness, and nothingness.

When I woke up, I was instantly bombarded by Nicole's pesky questions. I noticed Jax in the background talking to another male, probably at the age of fifteen. This other male had dark brown hair, and green eyes, he looked to be around 6 feet, and he seemed guarded.

Once his eyes made contact with mine he seemed to relax though; and I'm not sure if the two love birds in the room noticed his change in behavior, but I certainly did. My attention was snapped back to Nicole as she continued her questioning—which by the way, remained unanswered. By the time she was finished the green-eyed male was gone.

"Elias is waiting outside the infirmary for you, I hope it doesn't bother you that he will be showing you around. I have a few things to do. So he will also introduce you to your roommate, unfortunately I couldn't share a room with you, but you will love your roommate!" Nicole says excitedly.

I gave her a nod, and I headed out to find Elias. I found him right where Nicole said he would be. I held out my hand, and greeted him.

"Hi, I'm Lexia Whitetip."

I waited about five seconds without a response, instead Elias just stared at my wrist. I was just thinking about lowering it, and forgetting our awkward exchange. But suddenly he began mumbling something to himself. Finally he shook his head and brushed past me.

I glanced down at the floor, but something caught my attention. Well actually, many things did. Number one was how pale I was, I was almost white. Since when have I ever been this pale? And two, when did I ever get a tattoo? There are many things that don't add up in this situation. No, scratch that nothing did.

"What's going on? And why do I have a tattoo? Why am I so pale?" I fired a few of the more important questions at him.

"Let me guess. Nicole and Jax didn't explain anything to you?" He finally spoke after moments of silence.

"What do you mean?" I asked him.

Elias seemed to roll his eyes and mutter something, shaking his head. Ignoring my questions he led me down a hallway of doors. He stopped at one with the number fifteen.

KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK

"Come in!" A femanine voice called out from the other side.

Elias opened the door and put on a smile that actually was surprisingly not fake. It was also the most emotion I've seen on his face since I've been here.

"Aviva, I have your roommate. Wanna quickly explain the basics because our welcome duo forgot to throw in all the details. I'll be back in twenty to pick her up, so we can grab her stuff. You're welcome to come if you want, I'm the only one going." Elias was out the door in less than a second.

Aviva and I both began laughing, after our fit of laughter we quieted down and Aviva began talking.

"That tattoo on your wrist symbolizes what supernatural race you are, and from the design on your wrist I can confirm that you are a vampire. Also as you grow into adulthood so will your tattoo, I will explain anything you need about classes and such tomorrow. You can even meet my friends. But first let's go pick up your stuff." She says.

Elias comes back and we head out. The three of us head to an SUV that looks like the same model that brought me here. With Elias in the driver's seat, and Aviva and I in the back seat we headed to my house.

"Turn right at the next stop sign." I leaned forward.

Elias did as I said, he also followed any directions I gave him afterwards, when we finally turned into my driveway. The car stopped. My house was the last on the street, and it happened to be right beside a forest that was said to be dangerous at night, well it was around six-thirty PM now.

"Stay here, I won't be long!" I say.

My parents aren't the brightest of the bunch, I don't have friends over often. The only friend I ever do have over is Nicole. I knew my parents were home, so to not have a run in with them, knowing I'd have to explain about what's going on. I decided to head straight to my room; and I began packing my bag with all the necessities I needed. I heard footsteps making their way to my room, and I began to pack faster.

Suddenly my father burst into my room and his eyes widened at me packing. Then he narrowed his blue eyes at me. Then in his deep scolding parent voice says,

"And where do you think you're going young lady? Because last I checked, you were grounded for talking back to your mother!"

Yeah. My mom and I got into an argument about something and I ended up snapping at her out of frustration.

"Sorry, but I have more pressing matters in my life right now!" I say.

My father scoffs, and I continue packing. Finally my father catches my attention by punching the wall; causing the paint and part of the wall to chip and fall apart.

"JAMES! WHOSE CAR'S OUT IN THE DRIVEWAY, ARE WE EXPECTING GUESTS?" My mother yells.

"LET ME DEAL WITH IT CARA!" My father yells back and he leaves my room.

"Shoot, that's my escape out of this place!" I muttered.

Swinging my bag over my shoulder, I booked it down the stairs and ran down the hall. I slammed the door open and my father was chatting rather rudely with Elias. I internally groaned. My father must have heard the door; because he turned his icy glare on me and said through gritted teeth,

"Get back into that house and wait in your room-" He didn't get to finish because Aviva cut him off.

"Sir, Lexia has every right to leave with us, technically you have no say. With you being mortal and all!'' Aviva says and those words instantly had my fathers attention.

"Mortal?" He asked with a raised brow, he glanced at me and gave me a sick smirk.

"It doesn't matter, I choose to go with Elias and Aviva." I stated.

I took a step towards the car, but my father reached me faster than expected. He grabbed my wrist rather roughly, my eyes widened.

'He's not gonna let me leave,' I thought.

I looked at Elias and Aviva. Elias looked pissed off. I could tell he was about to snap, like throwing me over his shoulder and leaving wasn't a big deal. Aviva on the other hand looked so energized and ready to put up a fight for her prize. In this case Aviva's prize was well, Me!

Aviva walked over and grabbed my other arm less aggressively. I glanced at Elias and he looked, well let's just say. He looked amused. I mean come on! He's smirking slightly, for crying out loud! And next thing I know, my father and Aviva are in a full on tug-a-war. And the rope wasn't what was being pulled on; in this case it was me. I looked at Elias for help, but he was too busy trying his hardest to not laugh his arse off. I scoffed at this. So I finally snapped, and told my father off.

"I'm leaving whether you like it or not."

I ripped my arm from my father's grip and us girls went to the SUV. We went in and waited for Elias. Once he came in, we drove for two hours without stopping. But suddenly we pulled into a gas station and finally stopped. The two went into a store and I stayed in the car. My head lolled back and I took a deep breath before I groaned out loud. The events from today flooded my head, and I finally began to process what happened.

I left home for the first time in my life. I was a vampire, and I was moved to a new school where I'd now live with another supernatural. Who I knew nothing about! And there is so much I don't know about this world; and to be honest I felt excited to see where this world would take me. And what challenges and obstacles would be thrown my way!
