Entry #5

Day 5, XX-XX-XXXX

The faucets were no longer releasing water so my only choice was to use the remaining water in my water bottle to cleanse off the blood in my body. I have to throw away the clothes that I am wearing before because of the blood. It totally smelled bad when the blood dried so I didn't bother to keep on wearing it and changed to the extra clothes I looted back then.

On the other hand, I didn't cook the meat of the rat, instead, I decided to butcher it and dried up its meat on the roof of the repair shop. As for the smell, I have to wash it with the last amount of water I have thoroughly before putting in some salt on it to make sure the meat won't go bad once it gets dry.

Preserving meat is one of the only abilities I remember in my memories. Some of my essential knowledge of survival were still in my mind, allowing me to still be able to do what I remember. Oh, and in the end, the dog became my companion. Somehow, it didn't show any hostility on me and instead, showed a very positive and playful nature to me. I also found out that it's a female dog and she is still wearing a collar with a name embroidered with Momo.

I was happy to finally get a companion and even though it was just a dog, I can tell that a dog is the only ideal companion in this situation since they are not able to betray their masters whatever happens. A companion which is much better than a human one.

During lunchtime, I managed to scrounge a few expired junk food in a nearby shop. It was a shop that I considered as cleared since there was no food there except for the expired food but I decided to eat the food there so that I can watch out for the meat that I am drying. I can tell that it is expired since the food is already stale and not so tasty to eat anymore, however, hunger made me want to eat it. I didn't want to eat the meat yet from the rat because I want to use it as a last-minute resort in case I failed to even grab a good food to eat.

There was a pack of dog food on the shelves too when I checked so Momo had much more fill than me causing her to wag her tail vigorously.

The sun has set and the meat has dried too since the heat earlier is too great that I can tell a small part of the meat was cooked. Still, I hesitated to eat meat. I am not sure whether the world undergoes a fallout before my awakening. Getting radiation while eating the meat is also a bad idea so I am not sure. Then I noticed Momo who is still wagging her tail to me with her tongue out. She seems to be staring at the piece of meat in my hands.

"You want this?"

"BARK!"

I am not sure whether it was safe but Momo did not even care much and devoured the meat in seconds. But after that, she goes to sleep. I was startled and checked whether she is dead or not but luckily she is still breathing. Still, I can't help but get nervous.

I waited for 2 hours and found out that Momo is fine and nothing happened to her. She woke up energetic too. Therefore, I decided to eat the meat even though I am reluctant to do so for the first taste. As soon as the meat enters my mouth, my whole body shivered.

MEAT!

My whole body just can't resist the meat's taste. I can tell that my body has not tasted meat for a very long time. And although this is rat meat, I am not going to complain, this is already tasty for me who have not eaten decent in the past few days.

As I eat the meat more, I can tell that the energy in my body seems to recover and my stomach felt full already. I don't think I feel hungry anymore. Is this the power of the meat of the rat? Or maybe this is an effect? Anyways, I felt terrific, and I think I have the energy to go on a raid around the city and loot some good things that can help me on my journey in this new world.

Day 5, XX-XX-XXXX

Afternoon. I made a few preparations on my own. After my fight against the rat though I hardly call that a fight, I wanted to avoid the blood spill a little bit, and having the knife with you as a weapon will only make the blood spill too much. I really hate the smell of the blood in my clothes and that made me wanted to make sure the blood spill lessens a bit if I get into another fight. Therefore, I decided to attach the knife on a long metal pole and tied it up to the end of the pole. It's like a makeshift lance.

I made sure that the new weapon that I made won't fail me in the future. This will be hard if it breaks in the middle of a fight. I will be too screwed if that happens, therefore, I decided to bring the wrench in with me as a backup weapon. It might be in short-range but it can handle an emergency situation.

Packing up bandages and a few medicines I got from the pharmacy, I am geared up to go. Momo also felt hyped about going out. She will be a great help in sniffing food and enemies alike. With enemies around, I can use her aid in sniffing out the zombies wandering around and if I can get in a fight, she can help on stalling a bit before I go for the kill.

With all the preparations at hand, it is time to go on a raid. And I hope this will be a better time to get better things for me to survive this harsh and deadly world.
