Early the next morning, Allen woke up to the smell of a nice delicacy and when he followed the smell out of his room, it led him to the kitchen where he saw Mrs. Rose preparing breakfast.
"Allen child, you are awake. Were you disturbed by the noise?" She asked him sweetly with a warm smile on her face.
' If only my mom ever smiled that way to me ' "No, not at all. I woke up because of the nice smell of your food," he replied and the lady burst out.
"I see... So you are hungry, right?" She asked him after laughing.
"Yes, I'm hungry," he replied without thinking twice about it.
Mrs. Rose then chuckled and said. "Very well then, go and wash your face first."
Allen nodded and went back to his room, he sat on the bed and began to think about how nice this new family was. No one has ever smiled at him the way they were doing though he just met them last night. If it were to be in his previous world, his mother would never give him good not to talk to in the early hours of the morning. But here, the woman is about to serve him food even without him having to do anything in return.
"Should I stay a bit longer?" He mumbled with his hands on his jaw. "What if they are trying to deceive me? It can't be, right? Well, whatever, I'll stay here for some days and know what they are up to," he concluded and went to wash his face.
After he was done washing his face, he left his room and headed downstairs but as he reached the dining room, he overheard his name being mentioned and so he halted to listen to their conversation.
"Darling, what do you think about him, I mean Allen?" The man asked his wife.
"He's a good kid, why don't we adopt him and make him our child? That way, we'll take care of him and he'll also be able to keep little Scarlet company," she replied.
"Speaking about Scarlet, she hasn't been able to open up to us and talk ever since her big brother died..." The man said with a pause as he heaved a deep sigh. "We miss him too —" he completed and swallowed the remaining words.
"Honey, it's been two years now. Let's not think about the past or we'll end up getting hurt," the wife said and then held her husband's hand. "Let's take it as a miracle that Allen has come into our lives to wipe away our tears, we'll bring him up and also put him in the best school in the city, alright?"
Hearing his wife's words, the man calmed down and smiled, and then hugged her. "I'm glad that I have you with me," he said whilst hugging her.
Allen from where he was standing didn't know when a tear dropped from his eyes. He placed his hand on his heart-side while his eyes were glued to the couple.
' Is this the warmth of a family? If this is it, then, I'm truly lucky. If they can love and care for me as they have said, I'll protect them and repay them someday '
"Allen, what are you standing there for? Come over let's eat," the man called.
Allen didn't know that they had already seen him and so he quickly wiped the tears from his eyes and went over to the dining table and joined them there.
While they were eating, Allen would occasionally glance at the couple and a warm feeling would surge through his veins into his heart.
"Allen, from today, you'll become our child. We will take care of you and Scarlett together, do you like it?" The man asked him.
"Yes, I do. Thank you for accepting me," Allen replied.
"From today, call me dad and call her mom. Feel free and do whatever you want, alright?" The man asked again.
"Yes, he is right. Feel free around us and take Scarlet as your little sister, okay?" The woman added.
"Thank you, Mom, Dad," Allen said and smiled for the first time in his entire life. "Uhm, what about Scarlett? Where is she?" He asked after a while. Because since he woke up, he hasn't seen the little girl.
"Oh, she has gone to school. We usually drop her off very early in the morning at the train station where she joins the other kids that go to the same school with her. There are limited technologies in our village and the school is two hours from here so we can't take her to school in the morning," the man replied.
"That reminds me, Allen, you'll have to be the one to pick her up today because I'll be back late at noon," the woman said to Allen.
"Sure, that's not a problem. I'll only need the name of the school," replied Allen.
"Okay, I'll drop it along with the address before leaving," the woman said and rushed her food as she was almost late for work.
When they were done eating, the man and the woman rushed back to their bedroom to get dressed for work while Allen cleared the table and washed all the dirty stuff in the kitchen. After he was done, he cleaned the whole place and arranged things how they are supposed to be, soon, the man and his wife both left the house after dropping the address for him.
Once they were gone, Allen locked the door and went back inside. After having his bath, he decided to walk around the house to get familiar with it. It was a small apartment so he was done in no time. As he sat down to rest, he remembered he had points to distribute to his stats and he decided to do it now no one was at home.
"System, distribute the 50 points as follow... 20 to strength, 10 to mind, 10 to vitality, and the remaining 10 to speed."
