CHAPTER 1: LOST BOYS

Director Mikaela, an exemplary leader, demonstrates exceptional clarity in her work. Her dedication, diligence, kindness, and unwavering support for every child under her care made her an extraordinary figure. As the head of the renowned Domus Orphanage and its esteemed third Director, Director Mikaela left an indelible mark on the establishment. Her outstanding work ethics always ensures that each child receives equal love and support.

One fateful midnight, as Director Mikaela diligently washes the clothes of her lovely children, an ominous knock resounds at the front doors. Curiosity soon overwhelms the Director. As she opens the door she finds two helpless infants left on the doorstep. "These precious treasures." Director Mikaela says searching for any sign of the person responsible. Unfortunately, she found no one in sight. Instinctively, Director Mikaela takes the newborns into the embrace of Domus Orphanage, assuming they were intended to be under her care.

With a sense of admiration, Director Mikaela tenderly cradles the infants, discovering that each possesses a crescent-shaped necklace. When connected, the two necklaces form a beautiful moon-shaped sphere. The Director Inferred that the mother had intended for her treasures to stay together no matter the cost, Director Mikaela deliberately took them in and carefully assessed their situation. She marveled at their flawless skin and wondered why parents would abandon such perfect children. Nurturing them, she fed the brothers and lovingly tucked them into a slumber.

A few days later, Director Mikaela composed a heartfelt letter, assigning names to the two brothers. The process of assigning a name proved worrying for the director, knowing that this would be the emblem of the person.

"The firstborn, named Joshua, he will grow up whole-hearted, faithful, brave, and bold." The youngest would be named Caleb, signifying "deliverance" and a leader who guides others onto the righteous. Director Mikaela envisioned their growth, foreseeing them as strong, humble individuals who will indulge in the truth and greatness to the world.

Two days passed after the momentous midnight, King Joseph I paid a visit to Domus Orphanage. Known for his gentle and benevolent nature, King Joseph sought to find a newborn heir to the British throne. Accompanying him was the enigmatic and lavosh Queen Winsley, whose unfortunate infertility prevented her from bearing an heir.

Eager to please the King and Queen, Director Mikaela hurried to meet the esteemed guests upon hearing their arrival. To her surprise, Queen Winsley emerged suddenly beside her. The Queen, filled with anticipation, approached Director Mikaela in search of the best male infants available. The Director, wanting to fulfill the Queen's desires, immediately thought of the two momentous brothers, Joshua and Caleb. Insisting that the Queen meet them, Director Mikaela led her to the boys. The Queen's gaze fell upon the firstborn, Joshua. With just two words "The Eldest." she claimed him as her own, taking Joshua with her. Leaving the youngest brother behind, Caleb.

Shell-shocked and filled with distress, Director Mikaela vehemently opposed the Queen's decision to separate the two brothers. She pleaded with the Queen to take both Joshua and Caleb. However, her pleas fell on deaf ears, and as the Queen departed, Director Mikaela was left heartbroken. Overwhelmed by grief, she collapses on the floor, clutching her heart as the pain intensified.

Meanwhile, the Queen introduced the newly chosen prince. Prince Quentin Marks, to King Joseph. "He's perfect!" The King smirked joyfully.

The crowds erupted in cheers as the newly appointed prince of England was celebrated. The King himself was overjoyed, announcing a grand city banquet at the Palace to honor the baby shower of the new prince Quentin.

Amidst the jubilant celebrations and the roaring cheer of the crowd, Director Mikaela, within the confines of the orphanage, experienced profound misery and mourning. Once the King and Queen departed, the crowd dispersed, leaving Director Mikaela devastated and in tears. Overwhelmed by the tragedy that had unfolded, she composed a letter, expressing the anguish and regret she felt that day.

"It hurts... It hurts... What have I done? I am deeply sorry. The world is treacherous, filled with hatred. Power resides within each of us, and some wield it for their own gain. Those are the ones who need to be brought down.

Today, my pain is immeasurable. My two boys, Joshua and Caleb, have been torn apart. Joshua… he has been kidnapped... I do not know how much longer I can bear this burden, but I will pour all my remaining strength into raising Caleb to make amends for my careless and regretful mistakes."

For three agonizing days, Director Mikaela was unable to attend work, grappling with her illness. Yet, with resilience, she found the strength to recover and resume her passion for caring for the children and tending to the orphanage.
