The Abyss Walkers

In a faraway place, at nowhere, the sun hung low on the horizon, casting long shadows over the desolate landscape.

There were numerous men, covered in dust and blood, with old and rusty swords, standing before dark objects that exerted a purplish aura capable of devouring the world itself

Among the numerous men was a young man, barely in his 20s with black eyes that go as deep as the abyss and golden hair that could illuminate the heavens with its vibrance,

He was wearing an old iron armor, tainted by his own blood, with a cape that spoke  of the battles he had gone through.

He was focused on the black object in front of him, making time go as fast as a lightning bold streaking across the sky.

"Kaine," a man besides him shouted, breaking his deep concentration, his voice tinged with a mix of concern and impatience. "How long are you going to absorb that for? Your shift is already over, man."

"No, No wait, just let me do this for some more time"

"Kaine, don't act like a child. Your work for today is done and doing this more won't do shit for you or us."

"Now get away before I have to force you to!", the man shouted at Kaine, his voice filled with a sense of regret, suffering and care.

The numerous men, kept working, dismissing this drama with a deep sigh in their heart.

These men were none other than the Abyss Walkers.

Abyss walkers are beings who dared to touch the abyss, an unknown power, capable of corrupting the world itself. Whether its for power, fame, revenge or love, there were always individuals foolish enough to touch the abyss.

Abyss provided them with power yet the power they gained came at a cost, and they found themselves forever burdened with the inescapable consequences of their choices.

They were beings without a true home, abandoned by the world, with no place to grow.

One such fate was that of Kaine, an abyss walker without a home. He had once dared to touch the abyss, hoping for power and glory, but all he found was unending misery. Now, he toiled endlessly, cleaning up the abyss that he belonged to, working tirelessly with nothing but a hope, one that could be said as futile.

As the sun started to settle, Kaine walked across the desert landscape, towards a huge tower, made to house people like him.

As he walked, his thoughts drifted to his life.

"Even today, I was unable to find the cause"

" I still can't find a way to grow. There is no way this is the end,"

With a deep regret in his heart, he still held hope, hope to grow even further

As the sun began to dip below the horizon, he headed towards a small tent far far away from the camp where others like him remained. His tent was a broken one, fixed with nothing but some ropes and sticks. Even a gust of wind had the capacity to break it with ease.

But in the border of the world where no wind flows, it was livable to say at the least.

In the way, he saw numerous new faces at the camp yet had no will to talk to them, for sooner or later they would be dead as well. Afterall, In the border of the world, knowing the names of few was enough.

As soon as he got to his tent, he heard a loud sound, a terrifying one at that coming from the sky

"The s-sky, its split!"

Kaine's words slipped through his mind describing the horrific scene in front of his eyes

The sky was cracked, its very fiber torn apart  by nothing but sheer might

The scene around him quickly turned dark, with an ominous power, strange yet warm.

A being emerged from the crack, with a powerful aura ,shaking the entirety of heaven and earth.

The mysterious creature was a beautiful woman with green eyes, white hair and a body as pale as snow.

She had an purplish aura, emitting a power terrifying enough to cover the world itself.

Her body was bare, covered in injuries yet she gave an elegant look of a supreme being, reigning above the heavens itself.

Her arrival was mysterious and her intentions were clearly unknown

Kaine as well as many had numerous thought in their heads

" Who is she?"

"Why is she here and what is with her power"

"Why does her power look similar to abyss"

Yet they couldn't muster the courage to ask any one of them

Even though She was far away, he could clearly see that she was an incredible beauty, a terrifying one at that

Within a breath, She moved her entire body, massacring the nearby Abyss walkers in an instant

Her pressure froze their bodies, rendering the Abyss Walkers completely incapable of moving

One by one, she cut through their bodies like a knife against a butter, yet her face remained expressionless

After just a few breaths there were thousands upon thousands of corpses, with their very soul sucked out of them.

This was no fight but rather a genocide, a one sided massacre.

As she moved towards Kaine, Kaine immediately panicked, brainstorming ideas to save himself for even he wanted to live

His limbs felt like iron, and his muscles refused to cooperate as fear gripped him, rendering him immobile.

It was like he could see his forthcoming slow but sure death

"Move damn it, Move"

" Why wouldn't this stupid body of mine move!!" , Kaine screamed to himself, trying to escape what seems to be his end

As all other beings, Kaine too was someone who had will to live

Even though his will was corroded, its in the nature of beings to hope for better.

His body gave up on him but he still kept his ambitions burning,

Even though there was no chance of survival, he wasn't someone who would falter against obstacles

As he thought of different ideas, he questioned his own limitations

"Will I even be able to run faster than her?"

"Can I even hide somewhere"

" Do i have enough strength to even survive her one blow"

He felt powerless, like an ant compared against an elephant

As his eyes scoured through his surroundings, he noticed his fragile tent, barely surviving the tremor.

As he saw his tent, he knew that the only chance he might have at life will be for the tent to fall hiding him from the woman

but could she find him or not that was for fate to decide

Even though this was a risky move, this was all that he could do

He snapped back to reality emitting all his power, trying to make the tent fall

It was an successful attempt!!

With just a slight push the entire tent fell apart, hitting and burying Kaine

His body, experiencing an outer danger, finally started to move

He crawled his now injured body, out of the rubble ,pretending to play dead

Unfortunately for him, the woman had already seen him move

With a devious smile that emerged on her previously expressionless face, She spoke in a soft manner

"Found it!"

She moved towards Kaine at a speed beyond naked eye

She immediately grabbed his head and with her hands she crushed it to bits

Kaine, who hoped to live, was nothing more than a corpse without a head now.

Kaine was dead, his body cold, tossed to the strange hole in sky by woman.

As his lifeless body went inside the crack, the world exploded, making a sound as if hundreds of sun just burst into flames and showed their wrath on mortal plane.

In a place, outside of both space and time itself, existing in an entirely another fragment of universe

"Is this heaven they spoke of?", Kaine wondered as he moved around a plane

It was a weird plane, filled with harmony and peace yet gave off a feeling of not being natural.

It was filled with greenery, filled with life yet gave off an unnatural feeling

It was covered by the a dark flame, confusing Kaine on what this place was

He could still vividly remember his last moments as his head got crushed to death

As he thought of that scene,  shivers went down his spine making him tense up for now he had experienced what it was to be dead and what it was to die

"Well, I did what I did in life so even If I am dead, I have no regrets", He thought and sighed, accepting his fate

"Oh, sorry to disappoint you but you aren't dead, at least yet" , A strange white phantom suddenly appeared, making remarks at his thoughts.

"Who are yo-",

As he looked towards his back, he froze

The phantom was none other than the woman responsible for crushing his head .

"Seems like our time is quite limited!", the Woman said

"Lets skip the introductions, I am Belina and we will meet again when fate will decide"

"Till then do your best to do what I want you to do!"

"You-u, what do you want!", Kaine spoke as he slowly tried to get further from her, hoping to not experience death once again

As she walked towards him his body trembled and his mind raced with fearful thoughts

She touched his forehead, chanting some strange words

"What are you doing!"

"What do you want?", Kaine spoke with a small voice, one that couldn't echo even in the smallest of rooms.

He couldn't refuse or run away as his strength was basically like an ant against her.

Soon, he collapsed

Looking at his unconscious body, she sighed

"I guess that's to be expected but it should be more than enough anyways"

As these words left her mouth, the space collapsed, and all of them disappeared as if they never existed in the first place

"Child heed my words, for the tapestry of fate is a complex weave, and you will be given more threads than you may realize. In the cycle of existence, one's path can diverge into many, each offering a chance for growth and redemption. Embrace your newfound opportunities, Kaine, for in the labyrinth of destiny, even death may grant you life."
