"Tha- that was a monster?!"
I could see some blackness behind Isra's blue eyes starting to reappear.
"Yeah it was, your body must've known that it was a monster instead of a mutant. Well either way it's gone now so there's no need to fear it again"
"Oh thank god." Isra says in relief. Her eyes stayed blue
Isra got up with some blood that was now on the front of her leg.
"Let me get rid of that for you"
I let Levin take off all the blood from Isra's leg. It was now absorbed into me from my arm.
"It still grosses me out how it just goes into my body like that."
"Well at least your body doesn't just open itself up. It just goes into your skin and disappears. I have no idea how you like blood since I've known you." Ava says.
"Blood is the only thing that has a taste to me. Anything else just tastes weird. All I can feel is the texture of the food, not the taste.
"It looked like it couldn't see us at all." Isra said.
"Yeah I noticed that it also ran away after hearing a gunshot from somewhere else. I think we should go there" Ava says.
"Are we really going!? We would've most likely died if it heard any of the three of us!"
"Our goal was to find food and the person who made that gunshot probably already took everything."
"So you're saying we should help them so they can share the food with us?" Isra says.
"I was gonna say we let them get killed by that monster and then take the food from their body when the monster leaves. But that works also."
We heard a gunshot but this time there were multiple shots.
"Seems they're going to die anytime now" Ava says.
"If they all die we take what we can from their bodies but if there's anybody alive I'll save them."
"What are we going to do after saving them?"
"Get to know them, what else?"
"I think they would be on guard against it."
"Well you both weren't on guard against me when I met you two."
"That's because you saved Ava and when we first met I didn't even have a choice you both had a weapon pointed towards me."
"Everybody stop talking." Ava says.
"We don't even know if there's more than one of them. First we should go to where we heard the gunshot and then make our decision."
We heard an explosion in the distance while there were still shots still heard after the explosion. The shots sounded like it was farther away than last time.
"Your right now's not the time to be talking. We'll make a decision after seeing the situation."
We all went through the whole that the monster made. Running through the whole in the buildings along the way we saw something on the ground and it was a mutant.
It looked like it was flattened. There was nothing but the skin of the mutant. We didn't see any bones or organs that could've been inside it.
After a while we made it out of the buildings. There were about 5 military trucks, 4 of the trucks were either still on fire or had holes straight through the rear of the trucks. We didn't see any bodies or any one that was still alive. We almost missed it but it seemed like there was one person still alive.
There was a mutilated person on the ground next to the only truck that wasn't destroyed. She was wearing military clothing with a red cross on her chest. Both her arms were half gone and there was barely any blood coming out of his arms.
Her head facing down with her brunette long hair that was covering her face, blood on military like clothes. We could hear shallow breathing as we got closer to her. Getting closer to her I lifted her hair up.
Both her eyes were closed, her left eye was scarred while her right eye looked completely fine.
"Who's there!?"
She said it in a panic looking up, unable to look straight at me as she was unaware that both her eyeballs were gone. There was some blood that came out of her eyes.
"Just some strangers passing through." I said
"Now is not the time to be playing jokes! If you're reinforcements there's still people left you need to get them before-."
Before she could finish her sentence yelling at me she coughs up blood twice the second time a bit of her blood got on my left cheek. Of course the blood was absorbed into me even when I didn't want it too. I felt a little sad for her but I had to tell the truth.
"Sorry there's no reinforcement or anything like that. We just heard some gunshots and came here." I said.
"...Hah. I'm guessing you all came here to reap what was left right? Well it doesn't matter anymore there's nothing for you all."
"That's not why we came here. My friend Ava can help you."
"Stop. If my healing powers can't even save my arms and eyes…and most importantly my comrades. There's nothing you can do for me, especially in these times when there are scarce resources."
"Then can you at least tell us what happened here?"
"Yeah yeah I can. As Ironic as it is, I saw it with my very own eyes until the end."
