Running through the tall grass, David was feeling the qualitative change in his entire body, and mostly because of his level up, his stats were mostly recovered, so he could start sprinting at an even faster pace than before!
"looking at the images, some fur, stingers, and other insect stuff?...Wait, stingers? I did see a desert nearby, maybe it's talking about a scorpion? Should be to the... left of me." David turned left, seeing the view of sand in the distance.
"Maybe some coyotes, and other kinds of bugs? The hell you need this for?...Whatever." David shook his head helplessly and just ran towards the desert.
As expected, the desert was just like the ones back on Earth, a bunch of sand, cacti, dead bushes, barely any plants, and some occasional bone dead bodies.
'God... this might take a bit...' David looked at the number of materials needed and slightly cringed and spread his magic sense immediately as to get it over with already.
The problem was that in this area, the mana was quite weak, meaning the scorpions weren't overly big like what you would imagine and were quite able to blend into its surrounding, making it even more difficult to catch after David's third catch of the day.
"Bruh... how the hell does this count as an extermination quest? I mean, I am at the lowest rank, but really?" David looked at the quest papers with his eyes skimming through it repeatedly, trying to find something hidden in it.
Due to the environment being a desert and David's attributes at the time, there were no monsters able to hurt him, giving him a smooth, yet tedious journey to collect a crap ton of parts from this area.
Even with {Appriasal}, the products usually only said {Scorpion Stinger}, and nothing else... either meaning that its really just a normal ingredient, or that his level wasn't high enough to see what it truly was.
By the time he was done collecting the required amount, the sun was already setting.
"Ugh... need to head back, quickly..." Relocating where he came from, David ran back to Uesta following the arrow and the direction it was pointing at.
After getting out of the desert area, the area soon became the plains he was on for the first quarter of the day, gathering herbs.
As this was quite nearby Uesta, even though it's a few miles away, there are regular patrols and adventurer's constantly clearing most of the monsters here. Plus, even with magic, they can't repopulate so quickly, especially since David nearly wiped out the normal rank 1 monsters nearby as well.
"Hmm... maybe I should go rent out some rooms to practice my other skills, maybe I'll even get the forger, alchemist, and apothecary titles... heh." David smiled, thinking about the weapons, pills/potions, and advanced magic he'll be able to produce instead of using precious Sp points from the system.
Doing the usual routine of showing his visa when passing through the gates of Uesta, David headed straight to the Adventurer's guild as they were one of the only guilds that would be open 24/7 so that they could get information as quickly as possible.
Entering the Adventurer's Guild, there were very few people there, and all of them were submitting their quests in their ragged clothing, seemingly like they just went through a week-long journey.
Instead of handing in all of the quests eagerly, David only handed in the first two quests with herb collection as their category, making it more believable that he could do it in one day instead of those MCs who were able to kill literal bosses on their first day. He wanted to be a little above average, and not get into trouble all the time... though the pressure to get stronger is quite the motivator...
Plus... how was he supposed to know if he was THAT special? for all he knew, he could just be a small experiment for the Original Gods, for their entertainment, and that there were probably even more people more talented than he could ever be...
Turning in the two quests, he a few large bronze coins as a reward, somewhat surprising him before he calmed down.
"It's quite good for just gathering some plants for a few hours... gets me dozens of days worth of food... though in terms of gear, I need to change." David looked at himself, it was quite dirty as he did step into some mud, and there was also some sand that sneaked up into his armor, making him feel slightly heavy.
David quickly went back to the inn, ordered dinner to be put on his doorstep, and immediately went to the shower.
"...Hah... much better..." he cleaned the last few specks of sand off of him and slowly opened the door and grabbed his dinner.
As he was eating, he was processing all the thoughts he had today and decided to do them tomorrow as it was already night time with a crescent moon out, shining some light, showing the large number of stars in the sky.
"Hmm... money should be on top of the list before I do anything crazy..." Although David was ready to spend money, he also wanted to learn more about goods and stuff like that in case of being scammed and for hassling for some cheaper prices.
"Maybe I should look for a party to join? Seems kinda lonely so far." David placed a hand to support his chin, looking at the stars as it reflected off his eyes.
He cleaned up his plate, going downstairs, and left it on one of the tables that literally had a sign of "Leave your plates here!"
Going back up to his room as it was quite late now, he went to his bed, wondering if he should try and spice up his life up and... cause trouble.
"Hmm... I'll think about it, maybe the system might even make me do it..." David closed his eyes and fell asleep.
