Waking up at the first light of morning, David moaning in complaint, as if he just wanted to sleep more, like his last life.

"Ugh... I need a real bed..." David looked at the rough ground he was laying on. How in the hell did he even sleep these past few days is something he'll never know, but a good skill to have... he guessed?

He stood up, and cracked his neck, and destroyed everything around him, just in case something could be traced back to him. He went for the exit only around a couple of minutes away.

Seeing the bright light, David covered his eyes since he was used to the darkness, it did take a bit of time before he could get used to it.

...Finally walking out of the cave, he was surprised at the area around him.

What he saw was a dense forest all around him, the leaves of the trees were either green or yellow and they were huge too, though they were considerably smaller than the General Sherman, only around 220 feet tall and its trunk size around 30,000 cubic feet.

(A/N: The general sherman is a tree species considered to be the biggest tree species in the world. Averages around 274.9 feet long, and its trunk volume in cubic feet is around 52,508.)

"Damn... that's pretty big, time to find a place to evolve in..." David immediately ran to find a space that had some space so he could evolve.

Navigating around the forest, the {Mini-Map} was slowly clearing up, showing a large patch of a plain around the place. Going in the direction to see if there were any enemies, there were no red dots anywhere, meaning it was a green light for him!

Arriving at the small plain area, David didn't sense anything wrong. Trusting the system, he decided to evolve here.

"Seems like it's not safe enough, my tutorial quest isn't done yet..." David scrolled through his interface, clicking on the evolution button

"Wait what? No choices at all? Tha-ARGH!!!!!" David screamed and clutched his body, rolling with the grass as his body began to glow.

David felt that his body was constantly changing, it was burning, it was cool, it was painful, yet numb at the same time.

His body convulsed constantly as he felt his entire body slowly breaking apart into dust.

'How in the FUCK am I supposed to survive this?!?' David yelled while biting on one of the bat fur clothes he had lying around so he didn't make so much noise, attracting other monsters to his area.

He was continuously sweating, and so was the change in his body begin to show visibly.

His somewhat apparent scales now turned into regular skin, though they seemed to be packed with great defense, even better than before, as if it was an exoskeleton. His skin color was even lighter than before, only a little bit darker than what would be considered pale.

His exterior body parts like his tails, wings, and horns had also gone through some changes as well.

His tail seemed to truly resemble a dragon's scales now, as everything about it was more apparent, his scales became a weapon itself, as if they were thorns that could pierce through metal like nothing. The actual spikes had now grown somewhat, making it look "scaled", making the entirety of the tail look like a massive curved bat that could still kill you in one hit,

His wings had become larger, as the material of his wings had also strengthened as if it was constantly being reinforced by mana. The top parts were covered in shining scales and the ends were sharp horns that could be used as a weapon alone, without doing any "wind attacks" using his wings.

His horns, however, received the least amount of change, both pairs became slightly larger and darker as well. If he were to head-butt someone, they would actual receive large amounts of damage as his horns were large enough to pierce all the way to the other side of a human's torso, if they were flat on the ground.

His markings, appearing throughout his entire body as if he had inscriptions all over his body, like a body tattoo. They even became white and with their slight glow, it seemed as though they were pulsating.

His eyes which were originally yellow had now turned silver, and with his pupils returning back to a human, he still had an extremely cold look... if he wasn't on the ground suffering. Even his hair had become darker, and longer too. It was swerving to the right, covering one of his eyes as it flew everywhere while he was still going through the process of evolution.

What was only around a short 20 minutes felt like weeks of torture on David, as he opened his eyes again, they were bloodshot.

What was worse was that it wasn't subsiding and that since they needed to reconnect everything together after breaking everything in his body, nerves would reconnect as well, bringing unimaginable pain towards David.

In response to this amount of pain, the bat fur was actually bitten off, and his wings and tails were flapping everywhere in distress as their nerves, bones, and muscles were finally back.

After another agonizing 15 minutes of reconnecting everything together so David could even function properly, his convulsing body slowly calmed down, and he was finally allowed to breathe properly in what felt like a year of suffering to him.

"...Huff...huff...Kuh! Damn evolution! Nearly killing me!!" David complained, but due to the pain he just went through, his voice was hoarse and he needed nutrients... and fast.

Sitting upright, David felt that his entire body was now somewhat foreign to him as if he understood it was his, yet... it didn't feel like it at all.

Pulling out some contents of leftover roasted lizard and rat meat, David was satisfied after eating all the leftovers he had.

"Tch... still need water though..." David pulled out his {Mini-Map}, seeing that there were only a couple of clean water sources he could drink from.
