*Swoosh~*
Gluri jumped from his spot, landing about a meter away.
He looked at David with a wry smile, "Is this how you treat your teacher?"
David deadpanned, "I'm sure while I was training to perfect the basic techniques, you were using that time to control your clones to start abus-teach the other students a lesson." David answered.
[Host's (New!) skill, {Staff Proficiency} has leveled up!]
Gluri felt as if someone had found out an important secret of his, "Ugh... how did you know?" Gluri sulked.
David didn't let Gluri just stand there, and began to rush him with attacks using what little he had learned in around... 40 minutes or so?
*Whoosh~ Swoosh~ Boom~*
David skillfully used his techniques, and Gluri, who obviously had several decades of experience, could also counter him skillfully while talking with him.
"Because... of your... mana... fluct... uations!" David had thrown another thrust.
As David was rushing him, he could feel the foundations that was being set up, being refined. His body could move better, less wild, more flexible, even more relaxed, especially in a fight.
'Maybe... no, I need to set up my foundation until it's considered quite good, even by the system's standards.' David started to focus more on his target, Gluri.
He relaxed, steadied his breathing, dodged the counter Gluri threw at him and went with the flow of how his body was designed to be.
'His form changed!' Gluri's eyes widened.
He could sense the change, even if it was minuscule. The movement of his eyes, the tightness of the grip, the reaction speed, breathing, and several aspects were changing... in a good way.
'Is he making his own style on the spot?' Gluri narrowed his eyes.
Gluri suddenly released a strong, and oppressing aura down on David, causing him to slow down, allowing him to be kicked.
*Boom~*
The sheer force Gluri kicked him in would've thrown him across the colosseum, if not for the fact that David had barely caught up, blocked with his staff and switched into a horse stance.
Gluri lowered his foot, "Oh? You can already switch stances in such a quick manner? Impressive." He commented in surprise.
*Woosh~*
David smiled at the compliment, yet he didn't stop his attacks. He swept the floor, throwing sand everywhere.
Gluri closed his eyes before it could into his eye.
'Tch, again!' David rushed Gluri.
David continued to rush Gluri, but this time, it was more refined, flowed better, and were even more precise. So much so, that Gluri was hit a few times.
The occasional hits dissatisfied David, 'Doesn't count if he closed his eyes, even if he is sensing me using mana.'
A sweep...
A thrust...
A swipe...
Again and again, David was constantly refining his foundations.
David jumped back and held his staff behind him, "Mr. Gluri, the sand storm has dissipated, we can spar now." He spoke.
Gluri opened his eyes with a flash of amusement, "Oh? You think your foundation had gotten strong enough where you're able to spar with me, huh?"
David shook his head, "I do not, but I feel that it would develop faster if I sparred with you." He replied honestly.
Gluri smiled at his answer, 'Honest, not too arrogant, nor humble, a characteristic of a real genius indeed!'
His smile slowly turning into a proud grin, "Quite confident that you can last long eh?"
"As a teacher who is supposed to educate and help his students learn, while also being someone who's fighting 15 students at once. Yes, yes, I'm pretty sure I can last at least a minute or so." David gave a small goal.
"Sure... let's begin."
Gluri pulled out another staff from his space pouch.
"Won't your hair get in the way?" Gluri asked.
"It didn't when I rushed you... should be fine, for the most part." David replied.
The two wasted no time and both began charging at each other at the same time.
They swing at each other, Gluri reaching him first, forcing David to block his swift strike.
'Tch. He's still so fast!' David complained in his head.
'Since he's already seen my real form, might as well use it!' David grew some small horns on his head and a tail that appeared behind him.
The pants he wore had ripped, but with some magic, it repaired itself, making an adjustable hole for his tail.
'Transforming again?' Gluri's eyes gleamed a strange light.
While Gluri was still in an attack position, David's tail had swept at him, throwing him off.
Gluri reacted, stabbing his staff into the ground and pushed into the ground, throwing him even further into the air.
'Overhead strike!' David saw some small mana fluctuations in the area around him.
Gluri had started to fall down, in the position of an overhead strike. From the amount of mana he used, it was like teleportation, but he instantly arrived in front of David.
David's pupils shrank, and instead of blocking, he threw a strike as well, trying to push him to the right.
*Boom~*
David had successfully parried his strike, making him fall onto the sand, rolling once before jumping back up.
Gluri smiled, and David could tell that his mana was running low, so he didn't waste any time.
The two continued to throw a fury of strikes, clashing with each other.
Gluri had the advantage, being more experienced in both skill and battle experience, forcing David into a defensive play.
From the constant pressure with Gluri's assault, David's form was starting to break, yet improve at the same time.
The movement and reliance of his eyes, his tail's movements, to match the two and flow with them, using a weapon as long as he wasn't doing too well.
*Boom~ Boom~ Boom~*
Although the staffs seemed to be made of wood, they were more than strong enough to survive the attacks of a middle peak tier three and below... for some time as well!
Dust clouds made it harder for David, who was used to using his eyes for combat, but also served as some decent training using [Mana Control] to sense the area around him.
Gluri smirked and started striking him in several blindspots.
*Thwack~ Thwack~ Thwack~*
"Damn!" David fell onto the floor from his blindspots being constantly assaulted.
"How long... can you... keep up?" Gluri said, strike after strike.
David opened his eyes, 'Seems like I need to really make rapid progress. I'm not getting beat up like that, AGAIN!'
An aura containing two different kinds of aura had slipped out of him.
