New Knowledge

"Monsters... flying?" Stephan's astonishment was palpable. "But they're so massive... how could they possibly fly?"

"Did you know they're actually silicon-based organisms?" Jack casually tossed a bottle of Coke to Stephan, then took a swig from his own. "I read it on a vending machine flyer. Fascinating stuff."

"Of course," Stephan replied, nodding knowingly. "I've come across some analysis articles. Only silicon-based life forms could birth creatures of such colossal proportions. If they were carbon-based, the weight would likely crush their skeletal structures, making basic functions like breathing nearly impossible."

Jack continued with his impromptu theories, weaving a tale of intrigue. "Ever since the first monster wreaked havoc in San Francisco, I've been delving into monster lore," he claimed. "I suspect these monsters aren't natural beings at all. They're probably man-made weapons, crafted for combat! Real extraterrestrials?"

Stephan's disbelief was evident. "How... how could that be possible?" he stammered, unable to comprehend Jack's assertions.

"Why not?" Jack countered.

"And here's the kicker," Jack continued, gaining momentum. "Since the first monster appeared, their threat level has only escalated. From level one to level two, and who knows? We might soon encounter level three, four, or even five monsters!"

"I've pored over data from the Monster Research Department," Jack confessed, meeting Stephan's gaze head-on. "Hey, as a future Jaegar designer, a little hacking know-how comes with the territory, right?"

"To sum it up, no matter the source of the data, my research indicates that monsters can only grow up to level five in size. That seems to be the limit their bodies can handle," Jack explained.

"But here's the thing, despite their increasing size, they're emerging faster and with more combat experience each time. Have you considered what this might mean?" Stephan pondered aloud.

"They're using us for military training?" Stephan ventured, a chilling thought crossing his mind.

"Wormholes don't just appear naturally. I'm certain of that. The energy field that shielded the nuclear bombs during the wormhole destruction plan supports this. But how could these monsters, with their primitive brains, know how to open wormholes, create energy shields, and evolve so rapidly and strategically? And who's to say they won't evolve into flying monsters in the future?" Jack's words left Stephan deeply troubled.

"Of course, it's all conjecture. I haven't encountered the real deal myself, and the data from the monster research department is incomplete," Jack shrugged. "But one thing I'm certain of: tall walls won't cut it. Jaegars are the only truly effective solution."

"But now we're facing technical hurdles with Jaegars, and the cost of materials is becoming an issue too," Stephan grimaced.

"That's precisely why I'm here," Jack interjected. "If you hear anything, let me know. What's your mobile number?"

Stephan provided his number, and Jack promptly dialed it on his phone. "Alright, let's stay in touch. I'll be waiting for your call!"

Jaegar Designer Headquarters

"Michael, struggling with that question?"

"Ah... It's a technical puzzle I've been grappling with lately... I threw in some subjective questions," Michael admitted.

"You're being a bit harsh, aren't you?" another member chimed in.

"Anyway, he's not a 'genius'. What if he actually managed to answer it?" Michael defended.

"Aren't you setting him up for failure?" someone else added.

"How else can we gauge his abilities? It's not the first test, so the score doesn't matter. It's about our overall assessment... I just want to see if he's got what it takes! Honestly, I doubt there's a true genius out there!" Michael reasoned.

"But what if there is? Won't you... be embarrassed?" another questioned.

"I didn't outright tell him he couldn't do it! There's always a chance of being proven wrong! And if a genius does emerge... well, I'll gladly eat my words!" Michael shrugged.

"Hey, that makes sense!" the other member conceded.

"Of course it does!"

"I might throw in a few tricky questions too! Who knows, maybe the genius among us will spark some inspiration!" someone else decided.

And so, this pattern of behavior became increasingly common among the group of Jaegar designers.
