Gordon The Thief

"If that's the case..." Jack gestured towards the people on the ground, a mix of confusion and concern on their faces, "Can you lend me a hand here?"

Seeing the assortment of wallets at their disposal, Jack couldn't help but appreciate the resourcefulness. He'd always been a fan of making the most out of what's available.

"Haha, well, I guess it's a go then..." Gordon chuckled, initially hesitant but weighing Jack's request against the fact that this group of individuals was no stranger to criminal activities. Taking their money felt like poetic justice.

Gordon wasn't rigid, not anymore at least. Life's beatings had molded him into someone flexible without compromising his principles.

Besides, they were planning to rob Jack, and since that attempt failed spectacularly, it seemed only fitting to turn the tables and relieve them of their ill-gotten gains.

Gordon justified his actions and swiftly approached the fallen group, skillfully extracting their money. As he checked their pulses, relief washed over him knowing they were alive.

Jack, despite his power, hadn't indiscriminately harmed innocent lives. But, Gordon couldn't shake the feeling that Jack might have a history of taking lives.

Handing the recovered money to Jack, Gordon observed his reaction.

Jack glanced at the cash and casually remarked, "I'll leave it with you for now, Chief Gordon. I might need your assistance with something later on."

"Sure thing!" Gordon exclaimed, his suspicions confirmed. He had a hunch that Jack was gearing up to reveal a plan.

After a brief contemplation, Gordon asserted, "First and foremost, I won't partake in anything unlawful!"

Jack assured him, "No worries. We'll handle all the necessary formalities; it's all above board." He patted Gordon on the shoulder and headed towards the exit.

Gordon was puzzled, "What?"

"We're going through the onboarding process," Jack clarified, turning with a bemused expression, "Can't you tell? My ID is yet to be activated."

Gordon, lost in thought, realized Jack had a point.

"Jack wanted to join the team? What to do?"

Gordon felt a pang of anxiety. Jack's ID, though questionable, could be verified once they entered the office system. How would they navigate the onboarding process, and what ulterior motives could Jack have? Gordon was uncertain and slightly uneasy at the prospect.

.....

"This is your ID. It's a bit of a bummer, though. The folks in the warehouse have clocked out for the day. Your guns and

uniforms won't be making their way to you until tomorrow." Gordon handed Jack a shiny, brand-new ID. A look of surprise and awe still lingered on Jack's face.

Little did Gordon expect that Jack's ID was the real deal, legit and all, verifiable in the system. It was a revelation! How could this be?

Gordon's assumptions led him down a rabbit hole of paranoia about Jack's identity. In his mind, Jack had to be playing a part, a mastermind behind some conspiracy. Sure, the ID was in the system, but Gordon couldn't shake the belief that it was all a result of some hacking shenanigans on the other end!

So, the burning question arose: Why did Jack go to such great lengths to infiltrate the police force? Was he a drug lord or a spy for a gang, on a mission to snag firsthand intel from the police station? The more Gordon pondered, the more he trembled with fear and suspicion.

"If that's the case, I must..." Gordon's thoughts were interrupted by Jack waving his hand. "Gordon, I've been calling you. What's going on in that head of yours?"

"Ah... ah?" Gordon snapped back to reality. "I was contemplating... your future accommodations!"

"Oh, got it," Jack nodded, wearing a puzzled expression. "But why do I get this feeling that you're up to something not-so-good?"

"Hahaha, you're reading too much into it!" Gordon chuckled nervously.

"Well, now that we're colleagues, call me Jack, and I'll call you Gordon. It's simpler," Jack suggested.

Glancing around, Jack inquired, "By the way, which team should I join as the new recruit for handling cases?"

"Just stick with me!" Gordon responded promptly. Whether it was concern about Jack's identity or his commitment to the force, Gordon intended to bring Jack into his group for real-time oversight.

"Okay," Jack nodded, curious. "Who else is in our team?"

"Um, no one else," Gordon admitted, feeling a bit awkward.

Typically, the cops work in small groups, but Gordon, being himself, was an exception. His refusal to join the corruption made him an outsider, especially since higher-ups were involved in illicit activities.

News of Jack becoming Gordon's deputy spread through the office, causing quite a buzz. Colleagues speculated on how long Jack would last with Gordon, setting up bets to predict his departure.

The office, particularly during after-hours, became a hub for rumors and gossip, fueled this unexpected partnership.
