Power (Pt.2)

Isla stands next to Lucian's infirmary bed.

"I've spoken with the Duke and your family will be taken in as guests here. They're inside their rooms now. As for the other refugees, once their wounds are treated they'll have to get back on their feet." 

Lucian nods.

"Now how is Iris in danger?"

Isla shifts to a serious expression.

"The Duke has her caged below the castle." 

"Expected." Lucian replies.

"Do you know why?"

Isla shakes her head.

"No, as of right now it's most likely just because she's a beast. If you give me some time I can try to figure out if there's more. The Duke has extended an invitation to you, to have dinner with him."

'Dinner? Is he using Iris as a chip to gain favor with me?'

"Can you look into what they're doing with her for me? I understand that it could just be that she's a dangerous animal, but it sounds like something more." Lucian replies.

Isla nods.

"I'll do my best."
