A Cute Devil

Well this isn't a story about a damsel in distress Neither is it about a princess in a red ball gown Rather it is about one hard, nonchalant, and feisty lady determined to get what she wants. Of all the things in the world, the only thing she wanted was to get revenge; to kill the murderer. Turns out the murderer was a murderous beauty.... Just like an accident.... I shouldn't spoil your read, so read to know how the plot unfolds, meanwhile, I'll get typing... ***** The first step Mia took after the door was open made her bump into Mr Hugh. She wasn't really tall so her head collided with his hard chest making her almost fall backwards, but he caught her by the waist. A two seconds eye lock was shared before Mia stepped back. Within those two seconds, she had to fight the urge of punching his face. How dare he touch her? She looked at him and her mind screamed "murderer" She breathed in and got into character. She lowered her head in a bow inwardly promising to kill him for making her bow to him. "I'm sorry Mr Hugh" "Her voice is too innocent for her outlook" he thought. He wanted to smile and tell her 'its okay' but then he remembered that he was CEO Hugh. "Next time you might not be so lucky" he said and walked in "I don't need luck but you do" she said inwardly and smirked ******

Who is she?

As Mia sat at the backseat of the car, her mind flashed through yesterday's incident.

She had fought with anger; anger of the past.

She was actually venting her pent-up emotions; her murdered parents, her uncle that she killed, and the other guy...

She couldn't bring herself to sleep last night, all she had wanted to do was just cry the pain out but she couldn't. She rolled over and over on the bed then a question fell into her mind.

Why did she help Anton?

Why did she fight for him?

She could have died while fighting but she didn't even think of it before fighting.

She wanted to kill him, it didn't make sense that she saved him.

Finally she settled that she was the one to kill him, not anybody else; and she was going to give him a cold death.

She managed to get some sleep but not without a murder tape playing in her head which was called a nightmare.

She had not had any of her usual nightmares for a while but the fight had triggered them. Again she tried sleeping but woke up sweating because of another murder tape.

She couldn't fall back to sleep. She didn't want to.

So she stayed awake until an hour later before she decided to take a bath and go prepare breakfast. That was something to get her mind off the past and if she was being honest she had grown to love cooking.

She was surprised when the kitchen door opened and Anton came in with his morning look. Quite hilarious.

And she was sure he hadn't realized it. When he did he was embarrassed, his face showed it.

The car went over a road bump shaking Mia from her thoughts as she held the lunchbox beside her to prevent it from falling over.

Now she had gotten herself this.

At first she was annoyed about it but later realized that a golden opportunity had been set before her but that nosy guard just had to ruin everything.

She went into the mansion to prepare lunch but first, the study room.

As she was about going up, the door clicked open and she changed her focus back to the kitchen.

Looking behind her, she saw a guard following her. It was that same guard that always gave her a stink eye, and of course she returned it.

She went into the kitchen and shut the door; he stood right outside.

Annoyance was written over her face as she prepared Anton's lunch.

Why wasn't luck on her side today?

She could have gotten to know the truth today and end everything but this guard...

When she was done cooking, she put the turkey sandwiches in a lunchbox and left, the guard following behind her.

A lost opportunity. She sighed.

She added this guard to her 'to kill' list; so nosy.

The driver pulled up at the garage of Hugh's Empire and Mia stepped out.

She was in a navy blue jean and a black shirt on which was inscribed 'I rule my world' and her hair was in her usual ponytail.

She introduced herself to the guard and he confirmed before letting her in. She walked in confidently and found her way to the front desk where the receptionist also confirmed before directing her to Anton office. It was the last floor. She got into the elevator and pressed the last floor's number.

"How many I help you?" Anton's secretary asked looking at her up and down in irritation immediately she got to her desk.

Mia gave her a stink eye before responding.

"I'm here to see CEO Hugh"

The secretary almost laughed. Was she joking or what?

'She's dressed so plain and simple, what business does she have with the CEO?' The secretary thought in envy because truth was she looked beautiful in it.

"Do you have an appointment?"

"He knows I'm coming already, he told me to. Can you inform him of my arrival?"

She sure had guts, the secretary concluded. She was annoyed at the way this lady referred to CEO Hugh. Casually.

"I'm sorry but you have to book an appointment with the CEO beforehand"

"Oh for goodness sake just call him and ask"

"He's in a meeting right now"

"But you can still call him right? I have to get going"

There was a certain tension between both of them, like an unannounced tug of war.

The secretary clenched her teeth and asked

"What's your name?"

"Natasha Donald"

With that she made the call.

"Sir there's a lady here requesting to see you"

"What's her name?"

"Natasha Donald"

"Tell her to wait outside" the line went dead.

The receptionist gave her a look before speaking.

"He said you should wait outside. I told you he was busy"

She walked to the cushion beside Anton's office without telling her a thank you.

It was as she walked out that the secretary noticed the lunch bag in her hand.

Mia tapped her leg impatiently and sighed. She was annoyed.

It was past twenty minutes already.

Robert came out of the office and saw her sitting.

"Chef Natasha" he called getting her attention "what are you doing here?"

"Good day Mr..." She had already started before she realized that she had forgotten his name.

"Robert. Shan Robert"

"Good day Mr Robert. Mr Hugh assigned me to bring his lunch"

He wondered what was wrong with Anton, what was the need of her bringing lunch when they had a cafeteria. Unless he had something up his sleeve.

"Okay he's busy right now but will be done in a moment"

"Can't I just drop it with the secretary or someone?"

"I don't think you can because Mr Hugh didn't say so. Just be patient, he'll be done soon"

She nodded and he left using large strides.

Twenty minutes later, some people came out of Anton's office and two other men entered.

Robert came back with a document and was surprised to see her still outside.

"Isn't the meeting over yet?"

"It is but two men stepped into his office for a meeting or something" Her tone was flat depicting her annoyance.

He walked past her into the office. He signalled Anton to wrap up the meeting seeing that it was just mere employees.

"Is there a problem?" Anton asked Robert immediately the meeting was dismissed.

"I believe there is one. Your chef has been out there for approximately an hour and I'm very sure you know it but you refuse to give her attention. Why?"

"Nothing" he focused his gaze on his laptop and began working.

"I'm talking as a friend now" Robert said and slipped into one of the chairs opposite of

"Fine. I want her to see how important and busy I am and maybe she'll respect me more"

"Does she disrespect you?"

"No...not really"

"Then why? Or rather you want her to like you because you like her too"

"I never said I liked her"

"Your eyes say it though"

"I just want to know her more. She seems interesting, you know."

"And you think this is how you get to know her more? By shunning her? Sorry to say but you're a fool"

"Hey..."

"I mean it Anton, this is dead stupid. If you want to woe a lady you should have come to the ladies' man" he chuckled

Anton laughed.

"You've been single for two years now and you want me to accept advice from you? No thank you"

"Says the man that is always approached by ladies. You haven't had to ask a lady out that's why you don't know how hard it is. The rejection, the looks and ...ugh"

Anton laughed.

"Jokes aside though, chef Natasha has been waiting for a long time"

"I'll let her in immediately you leave"

"Some advice to win a lady, give her flowers, chocolate, poems and money"

"I bet Nat might hate all those things you mentioned. I don't think she's a normal lady, she's dark, dangerous, feisty, stubborn and interesting; a great fighter too"

"Probably a weirdo I guess" Anton shot him a glare, he grinned " And wait, Nat? Really? Your choices are bizarre. Why not call her Tasha?

"I do want I want and besides Tasha is a common name" he shrugged

"Okay" he raised his hands up as if surrendering "but did you give her anything to appreciate her heroic behavior last night?

"I didn't really think about it"

"Such a fool. She fought for you man" he teased and glanced at his watch.

"I'll leave soon but let me give you some lady advice. Try asking her what she likes and..."he paused "Do you know when her birthday is?"

"No..no I don't"

"Its in two days time fool"

"What? And how do you know that?" He asked quizzically

"I checked her information for you remember? And I clearly remember her birthday being the 13th of October. Check her info"

Anton searched her name in a folder on his laptop and her information was displayed on the screen.

"You're correct"

"This is your chance to get her to warm up to you"

"How?"

"Get her gifts, maybe an outing or something, anything...we'll talk later" he rose up from his seat when his phone rang and he saw the caller's ID.

"Okay...thanks man" Anton smiled

"Welcome bro" this was only between them both. The next minute they both become professional.

"Send her in" Robert gave a slight nod.

He heard a small knock on the door

"Come in"

"Good day Mr Hugh" she greeted when she got to his desk.

He nodded in response.

"Sorry for the long wait, I had some urgent matters to attend to"

"No problem sir. I'll just set your lunch down and leave"

"No"

"Huh?"

"We'll leave together. Okay?"

"I don't..."

"You'll stay. Its an order"

"Okay sir" she said after some cusses in her head

"I'll leave in an hour, I have some work at home, so what do you want to do for an hour? A tour?"

"It seems okay"

He made a telephone call and a young man walked into the office minutes later. Anton gave him orders which he nodded to and Mia left with him.

Anton ate his lunch with a smile plastered on his lip.

Exactly an hour later, Mia and the young man walked in with light expressions.

"I'll be going now sir" he nodded

"Hmm"

"Hope to see you again Miss Natasha, it's been a pleasure"

"I enjoyed every bit of the tour Mister More, thank you" her lips curved up a small smile.

Anton raised his brows as he watched them.

'What exactly is going on here?' He thought

"Its all my pleasure miss Natasha" he curtsied and left.

"So...?" Anton couldn't help it

"Huh?"

"Just forget about it" he placed a call to the driver and stood up to go.

They walked out; abreast. His secretary, who just had to be a lady kept ogling and it could be concluded that she had some funny ideas in her head.

Anton gave her a nod and they walked on into the elevator which felt suffocating with both of them in it. Thankfully, two employees walked in after bowing to them.

The employees who were talking about something fell silent and stood in front. Both had a similar thought in mind.

'Who is she?'

The elevator dinged and they all got out. The first floor seemed like the busiest but actually it wasn't. All employees stared at them with the same thought the other two had but Anton couldn't care less.

He would have even held her hand to get more questions in their head but he knew Mia was likely going to disgrace him.

Mia kept her head high as she walked, no doubt she felt underdressed but who cares? She wasn't going to let her self feel low; she never did.

But she didn't see the step up ahead and almost fell on her face but Anton was quick to help her by wrapping his arm around her stomach.

Mia's eyes was slightly bigger than usual as she stared at the bright tiles that her face would have been on.

Anton raised her up and asked

"Are you okay?"

"Yes"

'She didn't say thank you' Anton thought 'She didn't seem up for a change in manners'

"What are you all looking at?" Anton asked annoyed at how gossipy his employees were.

They immediately got back to work.

As Mia took a step, she felt a vein pop out and let out a low groan; unwillingly.

Anton didn't waste a second in lifting her up in his arm and taking large strides towards the door.

The reason for the large strides was not because she was weighty; she was very light and it was concerning, he had to take large strides because she might choose to embarrass him in front of his employees and he couldn't risk it, he was close to the door already so he reasoned that he might be able to walk out without any drama, and he did.

Mia was still blank as she stared at the side view of Anton's face, her hands interlocked behind his neck unknown to her.

Her mind was blank. She wanted to think, to understand what she was feeling at the moment but she couldn't, all she knew was that she was being held by Anton, the supposed murderer and her 'boss' and she was feeling something walking about in her stomach and her frantically beating heart.

'What is all this?' She thought to herself somewhat annoyed by this new feeling.

'Why did she even let him hold her?'

'But I hate being touched' she told herself, confused as to why she didn't feel the usual irritation she felt when someone touched her.

"Mr Hugh put me down" she demanded after putting everything together in her head.

He looked at her and gave her a sweet smile that made something 'ding' inside her before putting her carefully inside the backseat of the car and shutting the door.

Mia was surprised because she didn't know when they had walked out off the building to the car waiting for them, directly outside the door.

He walked round the car and got in, sitting beside her.

Mia wriggled her leg a bit and the pain seemed to have dissapeared. It was actually usual.

They both stayed quiet through out the ride home each drowned in thoughts.

One sentence hung in Anton's mind

'It's in two days time fool'
