"Are they seeking death?" Kevin peeked out of the hole and looked in the direction of the gaggle of beasts that were slowly disappearing into the distance, leaving only the standing bull, who seemed to be waiting for something.
At first, Kevin thought that the beast had noticed him and was already preparing to retreat before getting killed, but after seeing a group of people hiding on the other side of the road, Kevin immediately understood the situation.
The beast most likely noticed the group's presence since they didn't bother to hide their demeanor that much.
'Humans sure are greedy,' Kevin thought before preparing to retreat.
The group, which appeared to be hunters, remained stingy despite their shock at the current circumstances. After seeing such a huge bull separated from the main group of beasts, their sought for profit overwhelmed their instincts as they decided to confront it.
Little did they know how strong one of Valaar's ten beasts really was.
An enormous puff of hot smoke shot from the bull's nostrils as it turned to face the group of hunters, who were already set to attack.
Bright yellow color covered the entirety of the bull's horns while Kevin already began to creep back.
Although he still felt pain all over his body, Kevin only increased his speed. He had already been trapped in this hellish place for a considerable amount of time, and the danger was only rising.
It was now or never.
Kevin ran through the broken bonds of the building, some of which were comprised in a blazing fire, while not even bothering to look back.
A loud blast followed by the screams of the hunters, reached Kevin's ears as he proceeded into the distance not disturbed by the turbulence.
He had to get out of this place as fast as he could before the bull would notice him. Summoning Hulu and hopping on its back, Kevin's pace of retreat increased until eventually, he disappeared out of the beast's scope.
'I'm lucky those hunters showed up, or I would have had to spend a lot more time hiding,' Kevin thanked the hunters in his head before heading off towards the school.
For some reason, Kevin felt uncertain anxiety on his steely heart, and trusting his own instincts, he ordered Hulu to proceed quicker.
"He-help me"
"AHHH WHERE ARE YOU DAD"
"MOMMY"
Various screams for help reached Kevin's ears after he walked further into the city. However, Kevin didn't even pause for a second and marched through the crowd unperturbed.
Kevin was a selfish person and only cared about the people close to him. If needed, he would easily sacrifice the entire city for the sole life of his girlfriend Sophia without even considering it.
'When will the reinforcements come?' wondered Kevin while looking around at the endless amount of dead humans with some of them missing their body parts, which were scattered all over the area.
Even though Kevin had seen many scenes like this before, it was still unpleasant.
With caution, Kevin headed straight for the path, where the hustle of the beasts was slowly wrecking chaos.
Kevin had to somehow push his way through the ordeal without being noticed and the fact that there was presumably one of Valaar's beasts in this crowd, made the situation even worse.
However, Kevin had a plan, a very reckless plan that may or may not lead to success. But this is not the time to be doubtful about your own decisions.
"Come out, Rum."
As the sentence ended, a huge creature rose from the ground, sending a shiver down the spines of the already terrified inhabitants, who immediately ran away, screaming in panic.
Rum's skin was completely covered in shade, making him look even more intimidating, and coupled with his immense size, reaching that of a Titan, he looked truly terrifying.
Kevin immediately felt the mana store near his heart rapidly diminish, yet only a smile curled on his face.
"Get ready," Kevin encouraged before placing his hands on Hulu's back. Rum and Hulu's speeds were similar despite the difference in realms so they moved in sync.
The only problem being the fact that Rum's body was so gigantic that the ground shook with every step he took, which wasn't so good since enemies would easily notice the disturbance.
But that didn't really mess up Kevin's plans, as the group just kept on running, passing through the countless amount of grappling or either dead citizens.
After a few minutes of intense running, the ordeal of the beasts could already be seen in sight. Kevin scanned the area, looking for any unusual monsters that gave off an ominous aura.
Fortunately, no beasts of Valaar were spotted anywhere, causing Kevin to let out a wry breath of relevance before continuing forth.
"Rum, go off" Kevin smiled at his servant as the latter nodded. The bear curled into the familiar ball that sent a shiver through Kevin's body as he remembered the effort he had to put in to stop this attack. After some preparation, the bear surged straight into the crowd of beasts.
Numerous red eyes looked suspiciously at the incoming ball of fur, and when they saw a human advancing right behind it, they immediately blasted ahead.
Rum's speed was increasing with each passing second, with Kevin hardly catching up from behind.
'Maybe this wasn't such a clever idea,' Kevin cursed inwardly as he used the last bit of mana he had to summon Wolf, who he instantly jumped upon, leaving Hulu far behind.
Initially, Kevin wanted to simply rush through the ordeal of the beasts by using force, which might seem stupid for some people. But sometimes, simple use of strength can work much better than various useless schemes.
With Wolf operating, Kevin promptly caught up to the Rum as this time he stayed closely behind its back.
Various attacks, including poison shots, elemental drives, and even simple punches landed on Rum's body, yet all advances were easily reflected as the bear rolled forward, tripping every enemy in its path while Kevin followed from behind with a smile on his face.
More and more beasts began to turn to mush until finally, Kevin was well ahead of the calamity. With a smile of success, Kevin unsummoned the bear, who was already on the brink of disappearing due to Kevin's low mana.
"Faster, Wolf" Kevin encouraged with a slight tinge of panic. Even though he managed to force his way through the ordeal, it only made the beasts angrier as they were now chasing him at full speed.
Some of the beasts, such as leopards with golden fur, were especially fast, but Wolf didn't lose to them either.
After absorbing the soul stone, not only did his size grow, his abilities enhanced as well.
"This certainly wasn't my brightest idea," Kevin whispered, seeing the numerous beasts charging furiously at him from behind, "Wolf, lose the trail!"
Hearing Kevin's command, Wolf's body instantly expanded with the dark fur lengthening until comprising every bit of its body. Using [Enpowering], Wolf's speed boosted immensely, and even Kevin had a hard time staying on its back because of the spouts of strong wind brewing from the front.
Despite the sudden boost of pace, some beasts still managed to keep up with Wolf's momentum, leaving the big part of the monsters far behind.
Slowly but steadily, the beasts closed the distance until even managing to touch the servant's back, causing him to explode with an even more violent breeze.
'If we go on like this, the beasts will definitely catch up with us, I need to think of something,' Kevin thought as he eyed the surroundings for any possible escape routes, yet his view was completely obscured by the still-viable buildings, in which numerous people were peering out of the windows in fright.
Kevin exhaled deeply, imagining the gruesome outcome of these people.
Humans tended to hide whether there is a sign of danger rather than actually fighting for their own lives, which in most cases resulted in death.
However, Kevin held no pity for such people.
"Left," Kevin ordered as the servant immediately turned to the side, heading straight into the dark valley. The beasts behind were unable to stop their advance at the right moment, so they slid their paws a few feet before charging into the valley as well.
However, just as they entered, a few cobwebs shot down from above, causing them to stick to the floor. The four golden leopards that chased after Kevin in a bloodlust were naturalized within a few seconds.
Although they tried to break free from the spider web's embrace, it was impossible to even arch as if the spider webs were made of some kind of metal.
"I knew I didn't see it wrong," Kevin smiled wholeheartedly while taking a look upwards, where the familiar elderly gnom was stuck between white cobwebs.
"Kevin? What the hell is happening in town? And why are you wearing a mask?" Alf sputtered out a bunch of questions before slowly lowering himself onto the ground, by diminishing the treads around him.
"Beasts from the Forest of Death have escaped and are slowly advancing, turning the city into a bloodbath," Kevin quickly summarized the content of what was going on, deciding not to say anything about the demon.
"!!!" Alf's expression instantly became shaky as even the expensive-looking champagne bottle fell from his hands onto the floor, creating an unpleasant noise.
Alf was about to say something, but Kevin interrupted him:
"Anyway, I don't have much time, do you happen to have any healing potions?"
"I don't," Alf countered with a deep breath. He still couldn't grasp the current situation. After all, now that almost all the main forces are on the front lines, such a sudden attack will surely be a huge blow to humanity.
"That's too bad...anyway, I will be taking those" Kevin jumped away from Wolf's back, leaving Alf and his servant looking at each other in consternation.
"Kevin...is this your god power?" Alf eyed Wolf's body intensely from every side, seemingly very interested in it, "Isn't that a humanoid wolf? But why is it black?"
However, no answer was heard from the other side as Arf turned to Kevin who was mercilessly cutting open the leopards' bodies and taking out the purple ores from inside of them.
"Hey, I didn't give you that sword to be a butcher," Alf said.
"You're funny old man, take care of yourself, I'm leaving," Kevin replied as he stuffed the four glowing orbs into his pockets before jumping back on his servant's back.
"Wait up, Kevin, I have some news for you"
