New Servant

In a dim corridor that seemed to lead straight to hell itself, Kevin was running at full speed while occasionally turning his head back to check whether the enemy was still chasing after him.

However, with time, Kevin's heartbeat stabilized after finding no enemies as he muttered:

"Did Okura and Oliver manage to stop the demon? Something is definitely not that simple here..."

Various thoughts rushed through Kevin's head, keeping him stuck in his own world as he didn't even notice that he reached an unfamiliar staircase.

It was a span of creaky stairs, which were covered in the dust that had accumulated over time. However, a few deep marks and scratches on the walls worried Kevin as he extended his hand towards the curb, where a light gush of purple liquid dripped.

"I'll have to be more careful from here, it seems these beasts stormed through this place some time ago," Kevin squeezed the purple blood between his fingertips before taking a step towards the stairs.

With careful strides, Kevin advanced while looking ahead vigilantly. If Kevin gets caught by the ten beasts of Valaar, then it would be game over for him.

A certain death with no way to escape.

Kevin made slow but careful progress, and after a few seconds, the end was already in sight. Kevin ducked on the stairs and crawling, stuck out his head forward to get a better look at what lay ahead.

However, the sight that presented itself to Kevin was quite disturbing, as his hand even slipped unintentionally from the spot.

Two huge bears with stuck-out fangs were looking around the spacious area in unison. Both of them exuded a strange unease that Kevin clearly felt with all his instincts.

'This is bad...these two are at least on the seventh level of Human'

The situation worsened once again. Fighting two bears in an open area is a clear disadvantage for Kevin, but he has no other option.

Going back would be even more problematic because the fight between Okura and the demon might have already reached its climax.

Or in the worst case, Valaar has already killed both of them and is now charging at Kevin at full speed.

'I need to calm down,' Kevin calmed his increased breathing and began to cautiously look around the sprawling grounds, searching for anything that would help overcome these beasts.

'It seems there is no other way,' Kevin whispered before stealthily summoning Huru from behind him. Kevin simply glanced at him as the latter nodded.

Huru rose from his plentiful position and immediately charged forward, trying to attract as much attention as possible.

The bears didn't expect anyone to be hiding around them, but when they saw the rapidly advancing dark creature on their left, they immediately reacted and began to chase it.

Although the bears were stronger than Huru, they were not faster, precisely because of their heavyweight, which disturbed their body balance.

Seeing the bears running to the side, Kevin instantly rushed towards what seemed to be yet another set of stairs.

Without being careful this time, Kevin stepped onto the clay stairs. However, that was a bad decision.

A loud growl from a beast reached Kevin's ears as he saw a hint of heat vapor forming in the air.

It was another bear, who revealed itself from the abysmal darkness, looking down at Kevin from above with reddened eyes.

Sensing the inexplicable danger emanating from the bear, and in conjunction with the disappearance of part of the mana, Kevin's face turned ugly.

'Since there's no escape, I'll have to charge through,' Kevin thought before blasting forward. He had to think fast, otherwise, the situation would become terrible if the bears came behind as well.

Bear eyed Kevin's advance with wary eyes before growling all over the area. However, to Kevin's surprise, it didn't charge forward immediately, showing the difference in intelligence between the stronger realms.

The bear curled into a ball, hiding its face in its own fur, and began to befall at Kevin from above. The passageway was too small so the bear had completely covered it, which left the only escape option.

To run back.

However, Kevin can't do that, or else he'll be dead for sure. The only way to get out of this horrible situation is to stop the bear from going any further.

Two dark figures appeared behind Kevin as they stepped onward.

[Ability Sharing] Kevin muttered before joining his servants in the front. With his increased strength, Kevin's confidence also reached its peak.

Along with his servants, Kevin met the advancing bear by stretching his hands forward.

The bear's solid fur collided with Kevin's hand as a loud tremor echoed through the area. Excruciating pain reached Kevin's hand as he was slowly pushed back.

'I was too naive,' Kevin cursed when he saw that not even their combined power was enough to stop the incoming bear. Instead, the bear seemed to be gaining speed with each passing moment until its fur suddenly hardened.

Kevin hadn't expected the bear's already solid hair to tighten even more. But it was too late for any apprehensions. The hair pierced through Kevin's hands, instantly covering them in crimson blood.

Kevin was slowly losing the feeling of his own limbs until finally, he couldn't bear the pain anymore.

Kevin jumped backward, leaving his two servants alone. It wasn't long before the bear broke through, forcing the servants to vanish instantly. Kevin once again felt the familiar waning of his own mana as he gritted his teeth in anger.

*Growl*

Loud breathing from behind made Kevin's face turn even fiercer as he turned around, only to see the two beasts already standing nearby while exhaling at an alarming rate as if getting excited.

'There's no other way, I'll have to fight them head-on,' Kevin resolved his mind, preparing to charge towards the oncoming bear duo. Time was ticking and Kevin had to act before the rear bear caught up with him.

Kevin unsheathed his blade and, after summoning Wolf and Huru once more, charged at the beasts. However, the bears only grinned as their breathing intensified.

One of them curled up into a familiar ball and began charging towards Kevin with incredible speed. Kevin has already predicted such an outcome and prepared a counterattack.

After commanding Huru to leap into the air, Kevin hopped as well, and using his servant as a platform, he jumped over the incoming fur ball.

The bear immediately stopped, when he felt Kevin disappear from the spot and looked around. However, Kevin was nowhere to be seen.

Confusion spread across its face as it glanced towards the other bear, noticing that it bloodthirsty looked into the air.

Kevin was falling at a rapid speed towards the startled bear from above while extending the sword into the air preparing to swing. Using the [Empowerment], Kevin slashed at the neck of the confused bear, leaving a deep cut there.

*Growl*

The bear's eyes turned even redder as it focused all its attention on Kevin, who was trying to stab his blade out of the monster's fur.

However, even after using [Emopowering], the blade didn't bulge in the slightest, once again showing the gallant bear's toughness.

Kevin was so focused on the blade that he didn't even notice the blow coming from the side. Yet, at the last second, Kevin managed to turn his body 180 degrees and deflect the blow with his legs.

Kevin's legs collided with the bear's heavy stroke as he gritted his teeth in pain.

Before getting sent flying, Kevin managed to hear a slight crack in one of his legs, leaving an even more distressed expression on his face.

*Boom*

With a loud blast, Kevin's back crashed into the back of his servant, who he managed to summon just in time before hitting the wall. Of course, that didn't really help as Kevin still felt like he had a few ribs broken.

With an inflamed grimace, Kevin looked at the enemy, where a group of three Galland Bears with red eyes stood, joined by the other one a few seconds ago.

'Sh*t...I don't have my weapon, knee and ribs are broken, and I'm even having trouble feeling my own hands.....is this perhaps...the way I'm going to die?' Kevin's eyes slowly grew dim as he realized he was losing his own consciousness.

However, just as his eyes were about to close, Kevin suddenly stood up.

'I can't die here....I have Sophia waiting for me'.

With this thought, Kevin's eyes regained their usual sharpness as he eyed the arriving bears once more. This time without fear or doubt, Kevin strode forward as he summoned his servants, who had the same determination gleaming from their abysmal eyes.

"Attack," Kevin ordered while beginning to rush towards the bears himself, right at the one who was still bleeding from the earlier attack.

The Galland bears didn't wait in place either.

Each of them rolled into the cursed marbles once more. However, the heavily bleeding bear didn't even attempt to do so because of the dagger that was still stuck in his own skin.

A slight smile curled up on Kevin's face seeing the development of the situation. Though the bears advancing from the sides posed a great threat, Kevin would be able to use his servants to stall them for some time and focus on the injured foe in front.

"Stop them," Kevin ordered once again as Wolf and Huru immediately stopped and increased in size accordingly. With determined eyes, they spread their hands towards the incoming bears, trying to stall them as best as they could while Kevin continued to charge forward.

The feeling of pain and ache throughout his body made his speed slower than before, but he managed to keep moving forward while gritting his teeth in pain.

The bleeding bear, seeing the human coming towards him, prepared to advance as well. However, because of the injury on his neck, his movements were even slower than before.

That's the reason, the bear decided to stand on both feet so Kevin wouldn't be able to reach its neck. But what the bear thought would be his advantage turned out to be a liability against a cunning opponent like Kevin.

Kevin began circling the animal at the fastest possible speed, causing the latter some headaches. For someone like the Galland bear standing on two legs like a human was one of the hardest things to do, because of their shifted center of gravity.

Finally, the bear couldn't hold back anymore and dropped to the ground as Kevin acted immediately. He jumped on the bear's back and, using all of his left power began spraying waves of punches at it.

Though the pain was immense, Kevin endured it and continued to strike until finally breaking through towards its skin. As soon as Kevin landed a blow to the dermis, the bear began to roar in pain as he tried to throw Kevin away, moving his body from side to side.

However, Kevin grabbed the tight hair on the bear's body and continued to hit as his hands were slowly becoming redder and redder.

The beast couldn't take the pain anymore and turned around, revealing its almost hairless belly.

'The weak spot,' Kevin smiled after finally seeing that his plan was working. He grabbed the stuck sword and instead of trying to pull it out, Kevin began to spread it even further.

*ROAR*

A loud cry left the beast's mouth as it punched Kevin from above.

'Stupid beast,' Kevin thought before jumping backward.

The bear failed to stop its attack in time and landed the blow on its own body. The strike itself didn't do much damage to the beast, but the sword plunging deeper into its body certainly did.

Kevin watched the congealed hairs on its body slowly soften until finally, they looked completely harmless. The bear didn't even manage to let out a wry cry before its eyes rolled backward.

"I really did it," Kevin exhaled a deep breath of relevance before his gaze suddenly sharpened, "Obey, Rum!"

As soon as the word left Kevin's mouth, the bear's body began to slowly diminish as if getting burned by the invisible fire from the hell itself.

After only a few seconds, a huge creature knelt before Kevin, with a clear affection gleaming towards his owner. A smile appeared on Kevin's face as he promptly commanded it to stall the other beasts.

Although Kevin was interested to take a look at its parameters, he would still have plenty of time after. Now isn't the time for that, it's time to get the hell out of here.

The bear creepily smiled before shifting its gaze towards the other bears, who were already done with their opponents. Kevin didn't even glance towards the beasts and began to retreat towards the staircase at the maximum speed, he could explicit at the moment.

Even if Kevin does have someone strong enough to stop the beasts, his mana is also reaching its end, and along with the severe injuries all over his body, the situation is still deadly.

Luckily, Kevin has saved up some of the potion, which was given by Okura earlier.

Without much thought, Kevin drank it, not leaving anything this time.

Kevin instantly felt his internal organs and broken bones slowly heal. However, it still wasn't enough.

"I will need to ask Sophia for some healing," Kevin muttered before stepping back onto the already destroyed staircase and proceeding forward.
