"Cough...cough," ruby blood rushed out of Kevin's mouth, worsening his already pale expression, "The injuries are more dangerous than I thought"
Kevin exhaled as he sat down on a staircase with an exhausted smile. His whole body ached incredibly.
Kevin felt like he was going to pass out any second.
In fact, if it weren't for the potion, Kevin would surely be lying somewhere on the terrain by now. Still, he managed to climb a few floors of the endless stairs because of sheer determination.
"Poof...I have to keep going!" Kevin stood up once more climbing on the higher floor with clear devastation in his eyes. Kevin wasn't sure if the end was near yet, but he tried to leave as quickly as possible because the beasts from behind might already be coming here.
Kevin's mana was also nearing its end, and without a break, Kevin would only be able to summon the servants a few more times.
Speaking of beasts:
[Servant: Rum]
[Cultivation: Human Stage 7]
[God Power: Hair Consolidation]
"It's quite embarrassing to be weaker than your servant, but it's still exciting"
Although the bear was strong, the mana required to summon it was double if not triple that of humanoid wolves. But it's still awesome to have someone of such high realm in one's armory.
After all, normal humans had to go through years of hellish training and suffering to even reach the seventh level of humans.
Even though the path of cultivation was usually started by humans at the age of 16, when the body starts to show the maturity of both the mind and body, while beasts could evolve at any moment and quickly become stronger, it was still impressive to have such a strong creature at one's disposal.
It also showed how broken the whole thing with this "Necromancer system" is, after all, such a power shouldn't even exist in the world in the first place and now it's in Kevin's hands. Although he's still confused as to how he got this system, it's probably related to the fact that he's not from this time.
There are still many unanswered questions regarding his situation, but Kevin just needs to become more powerful and in the future, the mysteries of the whole time jump should also be explained.
"Anyway, I need to go back to reunite with Sophia," Kevin directed his gaze forward as he strode forward again. Even though Kevin was worried for Sophia's safety, everything should be fine with Oda guarding the school.
But Kevin is still trying to move as fast as possible, simply because he wants to meet her sooner. Even though they haven't seen each other for a few days, Kevin has already missed her a lot. It was the first time Kevin has felt like this, and it only made him elaborate his momentum.
The unfamiliar giggle in his own heart, an increased heartbeat, and the sweet memories of his own girlfriend, completely fueled Kevin as he increased the pace even more, no longer caring about the injuries.
In fact, because of the adrenaline rush, Kevin no longer sensed any pain at all, instead, he felt full of energy. With that energy, Kevin began to run.
This may seem stupid for some people because even if Kevin no longer feels pain, the injuries still exist and they could worsen after such momentum.
Kevin, however, thinks the other way around. He's felt like passing out before, and if he were to lose consciousness here, underground, in a hidden passage, which was unnoticed by the inhabitants for decades, the rate of survivability would be slim.
Therefore, Kevin decided to use the sudden adrenaline rush to his advantage and get out of this place as quickly as possible before the energy ran out.
Kevin continued to move forward at maximum speed while maintaining his memories of his beloved Sophia, which gave him an even greater boost of stamina. The previously struggling Kevin now looked as if he had just awoken from a deep sleep.
"A...light" Kevin muttered, watching the unyielding darkness grow brighter with each step taken. But instead of continuing to walk, Kevin slowed down.
"Now comes the most troublesome part, if any of the beasts of Valaar are here, I'm basically dead," Kevin sighed before placing his hand on the hilt of the sword.
Step by careful step, Kevin moved onwards. Sweat formed on his forehead, despite the cold wind that was brewing in this section.
"Water?" thought Kevin, feeling a slight gush of liquid under his boots. Kevin looked ahead, only to see that the previously sunny place was slowly regaining its natural darkness.
Kevin immediately ran forward, thinking the exist is closing like before, and after a few seconds, he reached the end of the staircase. There was a deep hole, which was covered in the familiar purple liquid that was slowly dissolving due to the abundant rain.
A few splashes of water fell from above onto Kevin's cheek as he looked up warily.
"Rain?...Not a good sign" Kevin gripped the hilt of his sword before cautiously climbing towards the ground by using the roots that were scattered around it.
With the last remnants of his mana, Kevin summoned Hulu, whom he ordered to survey the perimeter above. After all, one can never be too cautious.
Hulu nodded and promptly reached the ground while looking around vigilantly. Fortunately, there was nothing in the vicinity, only the endless sound of rain pelting the ground.
Kevin, sensing his servant's composure, climbed up as well. However, what he saw made his face turn ugly.
The place was entirely covered in enormous trees and bushes.
'I have only been walking upwards and didn't make many turns...then this place must be a forest of death' Kevin thought before straightening his back, 'It seems I'm pretty deep in the forest too'.
Although Kevin was in the area that was said to be the most dangerous place in this city, it only put a smile on his face. He was pleased with the fact that those powerful beasts of Valaar were not guarding this area.
"Hulu," Kevin called out as the servant turned his gaze to his master. Kevin climbed up on the back of its body and signaled him to move north.
Kevin didn't know the current destination and because of the dark clouds he couldn't determine the path based on the sun, so he decided to just guess and hope for the best.
The humanoid wolf made prompt progress, dodging the endless amounts of trees scattered throughout as Kevin tried to stabilize the bleeding, coming from his fetus.
Although Kevin appeared to be fine, it wasn't the truth at all. The various injuries scattered across his body, with the most severe being the broken ribs, were giving Kevin a hard time. The only reason he still hadn't passed out was because of sheer determination and hope.
"Sophia...I wonder if she's okay"

"Sophia, come back, we need to evacuate before those beasts get here," the teacher called loudly.
"Sorry teacher, Kevin is plausibly still in his apartment, I have to help him," Sophia countered as she donned some strange combat gear that was dyed in white fully. If looked closely, the gear was of really good quality.
"Sophia...I understand you, but the chances of Kevin being alive are too slim..." the teacher exclaimed unwillingly.
However, the determined expression on Sophia's face did not bulge in the slightest.
"Take care of yourself, teacher" Sophia replied, before turning her head towards the window that was getting hit by the heavy rain.
'Tch...I can't let her go...Oda clearly told me that Sophia has to be with the main group,' the teacher cursed as he turned his head back.
The whole class stood in place with a pale expression on their faces. The earlier transmission, which was cut off a few minutes ago, showed the endless amount of beasts rushing out of the Forest of Death and immediately beginning to spread chaos throughout the town.
Everyone was already predicting the gruesome outcome of their families and friends. The only ones who weren't so terrified were Martin and Sophia because their families are strong enough to defend themselves.
Or so they thought this way.
'I can't leave the whole class to help Sophia find Kevin, but I can't leave her alone either...what am I going to do?' the teacher wondered as he cast a sideways glance at the already moving Sophia.
"Teacher, let her go. I'm sure she'll be fine...it's Sophia after all," Martin spoke in a confident voice.
Sophia and Martin were rivals from the beginning of school, always fighting for the first place. Naturally, they trusted in each other's strength.
"Martin...the beasts out there are much more powerful than you thin-- ", the teacher wanted to explain the real danger of the current situation, but a sudden breaking of the window stopped him from continuing.
"SOPHIA", the teacher yelled loudly, but Sophia was already out of sight.
He hadn't expected her to suddenly jump out of the window, so it caught him by surprise.
With a few wrinkles on his forehead, the teacher looked beneath the window. However, Sophia was already far away from the school.
"If something happens to her...I will be dead for sure"
