"This..." Kevin blinked twice, not wanting to believe what was happening in front of him. Nine different beasts appeared behind the demon's back as he finished his sentence.
The giant bat still holding Adam's dead body joined the group of beasts, causing the group to turn even more ferocious.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?" Glen wanted to charge forward after seeing Adam getting dropped to the ground as if some useless trash. However, the sudden change in gravity stopped him from continuing.
"If you want to die, go ahead," Okura stated while placing his palm on the hilt of the katana, "Everyone, I understand that you're angry, but this isn't the time to be controlled by your emotions. The opponents standing before us aren't some puny weaklings. They are the nine beasts of the Valaar, one of the ancient demons that were declared dead long ago"
"HAHAHAHA, so I wasn't forgotten" Valaar suddenly called out as he extended his hand towards Adam's dead body, "However, your words hold no value. In the end, no matter how knowledgeable and powerful, humans are just worthless quibbles, which will get annihilated by the superior race."
"Big words for someone who was destroyed at the hands of humans," Okura countered.
"How dare you irritate our master, you weak human?" a disgusting worm hissed loudly, preparing to rush forward, but Valaar didn't let it go any further.
'I need to get out of here,' Kevin cursed as he looked around for signs of possible escape, to no avail. The situation was dangerous at the moment, not just for Kevin, but for everyone in the area.
Even if Okura and the chairman were strong, would they be able to defeat such a mighty demon combined with these nine fierce beasts whose strength probably reached that of a monkey?
"Open your pores," Okura muttered before continuing intensely to watch the movements of the demon, who was slowly reaching towards Adam's face.
No one had ever seen such a serious expression on Okura's face, forcing them to swallow even harder. They did as they were commanded as solid layers of the white aura spread around their bodies.
Kevin felt their powers grow as he involuntarily recalled the familiar scene of glowing Titan's body. A slight smile curled under Kevin's mask, finally letting a hint of hope emerge.
But the next move the demon made, caused all the hope to instantly vanish.
Valaar grabbed the head of the dead Adam, causing a dark cloud of smoke to envelop his entire body, "Humans, your struggles are pointless. Once I kill every single one of you, I will wipe out the entire city"
Once the sentence ended, the smoke around Adam's dead body dissipated. However, the golden-haired man's body was replaced by a familiar creature, an ape.
"WHAT DID YOU DO?" Clara, no longer able to control her emotions, shot a fireball towards the beasts, which shone brightly all over the darkness.
Yet, the attack didn't seem to scare the group in the slightest. Valaar pointed his finger forward as a tiny dark orb formed on the edge of it. Without much thought, he shot the sphere forward, causing the attacks to collide in midair.
However, despite the bigger size of Clara's attack, the dark sphere pierced right through the fire, proceeding towards the shocked Clara.
"MOVE" Okura pushed the startled woman aside as he swung the blade forward, shooting out a white blade towards the incoming attack.
Both strikes crashed in the air. The air trembled, mana towered as a shockwave spread through the vicinity.
However, this time, everyone managed to stay on their feet after opening their pores. Kevin thrust his sword into the ground and somehow endured to stay on the ground, as well.
"Excellent, it seems that over the years I've been gone, people have managed to get stronger," Valaar grinned, showing his black teeth, "But is that enough?"
Another dark orb formed on the edge of Valaar's finger, but this time it was many times larger. A shiver ran through Kevin's body, sensing immense danger the orb posed.
"Formation 3" Okura took a step back.
Everyone's faces instantly became determined as they began to form a circle while Kevin stood in the middle of the group. Valaar shot the sphere towards the group at an incredible speed.
Bud, who was in front, spread both of his hands forward, forming a translucent yellow shield between them. Kevin thought Bud was just seeking death by wanting to resist this attack head-on, but the resolute expression forced Kevin to hope for the better.
The dark sphere collided with the yellow shield as cracks formed beneath the floor. Veins burst open on Bud's hand, gushing a frightening amount of blood around.
The white robbed person, who was next to Kevin began casting various healing spells to keep Bud conscious. Finally, the orb began to slowly dissipate as if getting absorbed by the yellow shield.
As the orb was slowly diminishing, Bud's facial expression also retained its usual color. Kevin stared at this scene with astonishment, finally understanding the true value of the special type god's power.
"Interesting, you managed to stop it the-" Valaar was about to attack again, but suddenly the gravity around the group changed.
Okura, who was already flying behind the group, shot out a sharp white blade that was many times stronger than before as he shouted, "NOW"
Oliver and Clara instantly stepped forward. Both of them placed their hand into one space surging an immense amount of mana there.
A huge tornado of fire formed beside them before getting shot towards the group of beasts.
Kevin watched this scene with a smile, an attack from both sides while being harassed by the frightening gravity of Okura is indeed a good plan.
"Snake, take care of this whirlwind," Valaar ordered before extending his hand towards the incoming blade. A dark dagger actualized itself in the demon's hand as he struck forward with a smile.
On the other side, a green snake leaped towards the tornado, not really bothered by the increased gravity. It suddenly increased in size as it threw its calls around the fire tornado, slowly calming it down.
Kevin stared at this scene in exasperation, understanding that he should have listened to his instincts and run away before, but it was too late now.
Valaar slashed at the incoming blade with incredible force, once again spreading chaos in the area. After such an impact, even the monsters near Valaar couldn't stay in place as they were sent back flying throughout the field.
Soon enough, the battlefield resumed its usual configuration.
Kevin looked around, hoping to at least get some good news. However, Valaar stood on the spot as if nothing had happened at all.
Suddenly, the dark dagger in his hand shattered into many pieces.
"Maybe, I'll have some fun," Valaar smiled while another black dagger formed in his palm, "I'd be embarrassed to fight humans with my full strength."
"Scatter my children, destroy this filthy city, spread chaos, leave no living creature alive".
All the beasts that were previously sent back by the force grinned with a sinister smile as their eyes glimmered red. They all charged towards the destroyed entrance.
"STOP THEM" Glen rushed towards the beasts, expecting to stop their advance.
"Where do you think you're going?" a creepy demon appeared right in front of the transformed Glen.
Valaar struck his dagger towards the shocked lion instantly piercing right through its pasterns.
Okura tried to stop the attack, but it all happened too fast.
A few wrinkles formed on Kevin's forehead as he watched this scene from afar. The thing that concerned him the most were the beasts that were already disappearing into the distance, rather than the dying Glen.
"Sophia," Kevin mumbled slightly while gripping his sword.
With a side glance, he looked at her father, whose expression wasn't the best either, "I need to get out of here before something happens to her"
"YOU MONSTER" A dominant aura spread through the area as Oliver and Clara stepped forward in unison. Endless agony shimmered on their expressions, seeing another friend of their die.
"That's why humans are so weak," Valaar withdrew his hand from Glen's dead body, who slowly regained his human form, "To truly become strong, a human has to squander all useless emotions, don't you think so, strong human? I'm sure you could have saved your friend but you didn't because it would have put you in a difficult position"
"However," a strange dark aura began to envelop Valaar's body, "That was foolish....even now you have zero chance of winning"
