'What the hell is this?....I have to run, f*ucking run,' Kevin cursed in his head as he saw abysmal dark armor forming around Valaar's body.
The armor was made up of many huge pieces of darkness and a T-shaped helmet that spread anguish all around the place to the point that even Clara and Oliver didn't dare make any sudden movements.
As for their groups, all of them had already spread out throughout the corners of the room, as even the ever stoic giants of the Whitebrows guild have buried themselves under the dead bodies of the beasts.
It would be considered a move of a coward, especially for someone who had taken the path of cultivation. However, in the face of an inexplicable danger, a person will do whatever it takes to stay alive.
That's just the simple nature of humanity, and Kevin is definitely one of those who would run away and leave his "dear" comrades to fight alone.
But Kevin won't do that now, precisely because it's many times better to stay close to someone who can possibly stop this monster than to try to hide.
"Kevin, we have to help Okura somehow to get an advantage in this fight," Clara grinned when she saw the immobile Valaar.
Kevin glanced at the sweating beauty, whose hair had been already turned into a mess over the course of battle. Under normal circumstances, Kevin would never think of attacking this monster. But now, with no way to escape, it was only natural to offer at least some resistance.
"What's the plan?"
Clara glanced around the entire group, and when all she saw was Oliver, Bud, and a white bereft person, her expression darkened. She never expected her own teammates to run away with their tails between their legs.
However, it wasn't time to second guess herself.
It was time to act and grab for the opportunity to stay alive.
Clara began whispering her plan to the rest of the team as they nodded in agreement. Only Kevin was left with doubts, after all this plan is hard to execute and requires a high level of chemistry between the team, which they certainly don't have.
"Humans, you disgust me," an eerie voice reached Kevin's ears as he shifted his thoughts to the demon.
Suddenly, one of his hands moved towards the left, where the four-man team was hiding. A dark laser instantly shot out from his palm, leaving not even a trace of the guild members.
Clara's expression instantly turned heavy while the others helplessly let out a small gasp. Even though they had decided to run away, they were still Clara's friends that she had spent many years with.
But this time, she managed to keep her emotions under control and not rush forward, already knowing what a cruel result she would end up with.
"Why isn't Okura doing anything?" Bud suddenly mumbled after seeing how Okura didn't even try to stop the demon's actions. He just stood there calmly, holding his black katana.
No one answered Blud's question, or rather, they didn't care. Okura had already lost their trust after not even trying to stop Glen from dying.
'Because he's trying to stall for as much time as possible before reinforcements arrive, and he probably doesn't even care about us' Kevin abstained from saying those words aloud.
This time Valaar moved his hand towards Kevin's group, finally forcing Okura to flinch a little.
As Valaar was about to launch another lethal attack, Clara stepped forward. Her hand glowed red as she announced, "Now."
Oliver formed eight giant wind spears in the air, which instantly flashed with red color once again fusing both attacks together.
Valaar merely eyed the advance with disinterest as he shot a laser beam at the group. However, Bud stepped forward, spreading the yellow shield to stop the attack while Oliver's spears were sent at full speed towards the demon.
Valaar was already beginning to form a dark shield with his other hand, but a sudden change in gravity caught him by surprise.
The gravity was so strong that a crack appeared on the dark helmet of his.
*BOOM*
Both attacks struck as dust covering the entirety of the area. Kevin vigilantly eyed the surroundings while supporting Bud, who was trying with all his might to stop the orb of darkness from advancing.
While the white deprived person was casting [Healing] on Bud's body with explicit struggle.
Suddenly, the wind blew away all the accumulated dust once again revealing the contents of the battle.
However, what Kevin saw, sent a shiver down his spine, as even Bud's shield cracked a bit.
Clara lay on the ground with her skull cracked wide open while Oliver and Okura braced themselves on the ground.
Valaar was standing on the spot with his limbs covered in crimson blood.
'F*ck...even Clara died....I'm so weak' Kevin cursed inwardly.
Once again the situation worsened with another of the chairmen dead, and as it seemed Oliver and Okura had also suffered some injuries.
"Heal them," Bud said while placing his hand on the bleeding waist. Though he did manage to stop the attack. he also sustained some life-threatening wounds.
"No, I will heal you first," countered a feminine voice anxiously.
"Marita, this is not a request, it's an order from someone of higher rank, please, we must help Okura first if we want to get out of here alive."
Marita wanted to say something, but at the sight of the moving Valaar, all her doubts vanished.
Golden light spread out in her hands.
[Heal] she muttered as the light burns on Okura and Oliver began to heal at a rapid pace. Their expressions brightened as well, but when they saw Valaar's gaze shift to the focused Marita, their complexion instantly worsened.
No matter what, they can't lose their healer, or it would be truly impossible to stall this monster without any support. That's why Okura didn't care about waiting for the reinforcements anymore as he fiercely lunged forward while swinging his sword at the demon's neck.
However, just as the attack was about to land on him, Valaar disappeared.
Kevin immediately felt a strange unease in his heart.
Trusting his instincts, Kevin summoned his servants and distributed them around the group accordingly.
However, Valaar appeared in the most unexpected place, right in the middle of the group. Kevin only managed to catch the demon's creepy smile before he was sent crashing into the wall with a powerful kick into the bondmen.
Kevin reacted quickly, summoning Wolf behind his back to avoid being shoved into the partition. However, the blow alone was enough to knock Kevin unconscious, he only managed to stay awake through sheer will.
'My ribs are broken,' Kevin cursed in his mind.
Bleary-eyed, he glanced forward, only to see the demon standing right in front of him with a carefree expression on his face. Bud and Marita were already nowhere to be seen, but Kevin suspected they had been sent back as well.
"Boy, drink this," Okura suddenly appeared beside the struggling Kevin and held out a strange potion of purple color to him. It was the first time Kevin had seen such an angry yet hopeless expression on Okura, which made him even less hopeful of leaving this place alive.
Kevin took the potion without hesitation and after lifting his mask slightly, he drank it. The previously broken ribs slowly began to regain their firmness as Kevin's facial expression recovered its natural color. It was a special kind of water that was infused with healing mana, becoming the popular [Healing Potion].
"Kevin, as soon as I attack him, you run away,'' Okura declared with seriousness shimmering from his eyelids.
'Why does he care so much about me? I don't remember being close friends with him' Kevin wondered.
Although he doesn't understand what's going on in that man's head, it doesn't matter as long as he manages to run away. However, there is one problem.
Bud.
Even though Kevin is a selfish person, he can't just let his girlfriend's father die. After all, it will definitely leave a deep scar on her heart.
"I know what you're thinking, don't worry, the reinforcements are already here, you don't have to worry about Bud and Marita, everything will be fine"
"Humans, your resistance is futile, no potions will save you from being destroyed" Valaar once again boasted some nonsense while Kevin finally decided to believe Okura's words and prepared to retreat.
After all, the beasts that escaped were probably already spreading chaos around the city, which caused Kevin to feel some unease about Sophia's safety.
However, everything should be fine with Sophia being at school as Oda should be able to handle any of these ferocious beasts.
"Get ready," Okura said, nodding at Oliver, who stood in place with eyes filled with killing intent. Almost all of his friends had died in a matter of minutes.
He was so furious that the nails had already penetrated his palm from clutching too hard. And now all that anger was accumulating on the demon.
Kevin wasn't sure why Valaar was so slow to attack, after all, he could have already destroyed the team with that kind of power, but he just stood there on the spot as if waiting for something.
After some thought, only one possible theory surfaced:
"He's toying with us," Kevin frowned before racing towards the broken entrance at the maximum speed.
As predicted, Valaar appeared in front of Kevin, blocking his path with his bloody dagger in the hand. However, before Valaar could attack, Oliver and Okura charged at him from both sides.
Valaar blocked both incoming blows while Kevin proceeded to rush towards the exit without even looking back.
Valaar would not let anyone escape his wrath, especially not with such a simple method. He formed two small dark needles in his mouth and shot them towards Kevin at full speed, aiming at the head.
Okura wasn't fast enough to prevent the demon's action while Oliver didn't even notice them being shot out.
Yet, only a smile appeared on Kevin's countenance. He already suspected that the two of them would not be enough to stop the demon so he watched the Valaar's movements closely.
A black creature rose up behind Kevin and immediately disappeared after being pierced by the needles. Kevin doesn't really like to use his servants as meat shields, but sometimes you just have to go with the flow.
'This....how did a human get this power?' Valaar whispered as his expression suddenly turned solemn. Immense danger spread out from the demon as strange fluctuations of energy ensued.
Valaar seemed to be excited?
"COME HERE, HUMAN" Valaar broke free from the Okura's gravity and leaped towards the entrance, where Kevin had already stepped into.
However, an unexpected kick landed on Valaar's face, instantly sending him back. The force of the kick was so powerful that the helmet, which was thought to be indestructible, shattered into many pieces before vanishing into nothingness.
Valaar glared angrily into the air, wondering who dared to block the path of his, a superior demon.
It was a senile man that stood in the air like some sort of deity, looking down at the demon from above with clear disgust on his face.
"You sure took your time, Pops," Okura sighed deeply once again regaining his concentration.
"Sorry-sorry, I never would have thought that some disgusting demon would be hiding underneath my city."
