Purely from an emotional perspective, not philosophical as his psyche is still developing. He would see a dream and get attached to the sense of living, then see a situation that would show him how terrible death is as it is both painful and signifies the end of what he has known and enjoyed to some degree.

Psyche is more in realistic, his personality is decades old of earth's conditioning about morality and such.
